Thanks for the remembering date Don. Went to the BT Tower for lunch with other 50 years of service employees, with wifey. Nice day out and nostalgic conversations with the other employees, most are carrying on working, nutters. Daughters flat renovation finished, mates bathroom finished, holidayed in Buxton and Prague a week each. Now going to attack my Pug 205GTI restoration when the weather's ok. Also need to go on some sort of fitness regime, I put in weight all too easy, cycling, walking and swimming are what j like best.5 points

Hello Community, my name is Udo and I leave near Cologne in an area called "Bergisches Land". Recently sold my Lotus Elise, that I had for ten years and purchased a "built" version of Westfield SEIV FW through CCK in Germany in August. So far I was able to drive allmost 3 months with great joy, including a long weekend in the Dolomites. The car is great fun and I am enjoying every meter and hour, I am able to spend with it. As the Westfield scene is fairly small here I was thinking to look for forum membership in the home of kit car scene, which UK definately is. The car is equipped with the 2l Zetec and provides great fun, allthough some minor tweaks with gearbox oil leak and some water ingress during rain session in the Dolomites, but the winter is long and the will to improve as well. Did spent time already with build reviews here and liked the way, members help each other. I hope I will make it to UK once for some local events, but available time is always a factor. Regards, Udo2 points

I've just submitted my MOT certificate - one of my fears about buying a Westie was that it would just sit in the garage collecting MOT certificates with very small mileage increments. Perhaps it's the "new-ness" of the Westie experience, and maybe it's the draw of some rather entertaining runs over the Peak District, but I seem to have done rather more miles than I thought I would...2 points

This is the man who stated that he would lead the country no matter what the result of the Brexit referendum, then resigns very shortly after the result went the wrong way for him. I wonder if he's bored because when he applies for a job, they remember he has a tendency to not see things through despite commitments to the contrary. I wouldn't employ him either...2 points

Here’s my suggestion. Mrs May stops being called to the EU at short notice. Write this message. Dispite our efforts, and our close friendship, we feel at present we are unable to reach an acceptable relationship. With regret we therefore intend to leave without a deal in March 2019. If the EU have any further ideas or suggestions they are welcome to visit the UK to discuss them. As always we look forward to a continuing friendship with the people of Europe and confirm that those EU members who currently live here are welcome to stay. Goodbye.2 points

So, something new I had thought to do. In real truth its just an excuse to go and drive my car to meet other members and chat cars and stuff. I am obviously not starting this thread at the right time of year, but hopefully I can meet up throughout the future years, at different places and talk mainly cars in an off the cuff interview with fellow members and people who are involved with WSCC . You can tell me to sod off if you want and if you think I am going to Dufftown for an hours chat @Gary Taylor - Scotland AO , however much I would like to, Skype may take a precedence to driving. I hope it may answer a few questions of aspirations and dreams that people may have within the club. I will try my best to get the first one done later today, so watch this space.1 point

Sorry to hear Paul. My neighbours mum died on his birthday last December, which seems spooky as well. Even after 26 years, you still miss them. And I am now 48 , so spent more time on earth without the old man than with sadly. Still hope you had a fab day with the family though.1 point

It looks like its designed to channel air into the rear diffuser for the ground effects, either way you broke it1 point

Oh God, I remember those Fiesta's, I remember a customer giving me a ride in one, while I was round doing an install, he'd only taken delivery of it the day before. We got back, and just sat there with me trying to think of something diplomatic to say, and feeling embarrassed. After a moments awkward silence, he just looked at me and said something to the effect, of "b*****k*, it's crap, isn't it!" Saw him again on a follow up visit a week later and it was gone! He eventually bought (some years later) a Delta Integrale Evo, and took me a ride over the Cat and Fiddle run. To this day, and including some pukka super cars, that is still the fastest and most fun/exhilarating run I've ever had on those well known (to me) roads. We laughed about that old Fiesta for years though!!1 point

Went and had a chat with Andrew at toybox yesterday. Nice guy, gave me loads of information and let me sit in a few of the cars. Even offered to take me out in a few if I wanted at another date. Although I'm still not totally sure what I want i'm more clear on what I don't want. My thinking now is to get something around the 10k mark and have some fun working on it over the colder months. On that note, I've started the clearing out of the garage in preperation. The new door was fitted last week as and I just need to get rid of all crap that's accumulated in there over the last year through various comings and goings in our life. Time to be quite strict and throw out/sell anything that I'm just not using anymore. It's a double garage so apce shouldn't be an issue I just need to arrange it all in an orderly way.1 point

The 'main' idea of this was to meet other members, but just happened I was asked to let my car be photo'd outside their shop, so thought I would try this on A Plan first . Carlie 'is' going to be on here probably next week, if I link the thread to her, so please be polite and nice . You can edit your posts if you wish. I do have a list of potential members , in my head currently , but as I said, weather and time of year is against my plan. I just am trying something new. Something to develop into a more interesting thread and focus on individuals involved with the club . There is a lot of members here but only a few attempt to try different things to write about especially on these dark miserable non driving months.1 point

Foot rests complete. I decided against the carbon unit from Rusty as I will leave for another day. Too much work to remove the ally panel by the pedals on the drive. I gauged the position with 2 numbered pieces of masking tape on the tunnel (1 removed) on a drive and noted where my foot was comfortable to get the angle and height1 point

Anyway, Round One. Today I have paid a visit to Carlie at A Plan. Now some of you have already known of this visit , from the 'banter' I was given on another thread. So, over toast and tea for breakfast, I had to quickly scribble a few questions to ask her when I popped in. I was asked to bring the Westie down to the shop, as they wanted a new picture of another car , hopefully to be used for their adverts for next year. So, apparently , I was heard a way off before parking up . Nothing like making a bit of an entrance, I suppose. I was asked to park out front , so can push the car to the right spot. So, after a few photos involving Carlie avoiding the traffic on the A4 and the photoshoot of a lady expecting ( yes, you read it here first) and never thought I would see a pregnant lady clamber into the car for a photo !, we headed indoors for interrogation. So Carlie , what is your job title ? I am an insurance consultant and marketing manager for A Plan. How long have you worked at A Plan ? I have been here for 2 1/2 years now Age ? Yes, I know , not I am not printing it !! Current Car ? I have a Mini Cooper JCW Convertible . Dream Car ? I wouldnt mind a 60's Mustang , one day !! Any stories to tell in the insurance world ? Just the usual stuff really. We do seem to have people who seem to think their cars are worth far more than they actually are, which can be interesting , when we discuss it with them. Pints or Halves ? Er............... Pints Future Things ? Being a mum and also wouldnt mind having a kit car myself. Weird cravings in you current state ? I seem to have a liking for Olives, even though I have never liked them Carbon Fibre ? No, not at the moment. The only bits I can find for the Mini is black and I want red stuff to match the rest of the car. So, I hope with the mods you do inform your insurance company ? Oh, yes, of course I will So, with my hurried questions answered, I bid farewell. I believe you will be seeing Carlie at the awards event soon, so make sure you offer her a chair or she will bring the big bouncy ball hidden under the front desk to give her comfort. Oh and thanks for chocolates and cuppa. Very kind of A Plan, who are great people and lucky to have them locally and also as a main sponsor for our club.1 point

I really try not to say much on Brexit as others have said its so divisive, this is worth a watch you can see the embarrassment on the people its aimed at, there seems to be a lot of sense spoken in my humble opinion and its a real shame that article 50 does not clearly lay out how to truly exit rather than open negotiations. Its a sad inditement to the EU, it should not be frightened of countries exiting and joining if it truly is to the benefit of all. I'm not saying it is or isn't. I do agree any negotiations if given timelines goes down to the wire and I hope that sense prevails1 point

A trading partnership is fine. The EU are trying and have been tying to get POLITICAL union in through the back door of trade. This is not acceptable. Kinnock was mentioned. I'll mention Mandelson and Farage as well. All of them soundly rejected by the UK electorate yet they become EU politicians. This is the very opposite of democracy and if it happens with those we vote out of office I'm sure it happens with politicians from other countries too. In other words the very people we deliberately reject end up being in a position of power and largely exempt from the will of the people. The British government handled this all wrong. The UK is the 5th biggest economy in the world https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/04/the-worlds-biggest-economies-in-2018/ We trade with more countries under WTO rules than we do with the EU. We should have said "We're out. If you want us to trade with you, come up with a deal or we'll spend our money elsewhere." And at the end of the day is Germany really going to say that they don't want to sell us BMW's, Mercedes, Audi's, Daimler, Bosch, Siemens etc etc. Hardly. We need to hold out nerve, stare down project fear, keep calm and carry on. The core of the EU are much more concerned about contagion. If they make it easy for us to leave then they will be faced with several other countries wanting to do the same. The harder they make it for us the more unattractive leaving looks to other countries who may be on the cusp, and that is political cynicism of gargantuan proportions. I'm old and I spend a LOT of my working time in Holland, France and Germany and I'm a confirmed leaver. No deal is fine by me. WTO rules will work the way they always have.1 point

The EU has some good points to it but many bad ones and over the years countries who are nett contributors have been paying more and more in to the pot to prop up the countries who economies are basket cases. As Stuart has said the corruption is almost beyond belief and when you cannot get audits signed off by anyone it shows the level of problems. All the EU had to do was to make some concessions to Cameron to fend of the rise in UKIP and there would never have been a vote offered, but as it was they felt that the UK people would never vote to leave. Once the vote was announced, my brother who has lived in France for over 20 years, told me that politicians there were rolling around with joy. If the UK voted to leave they must be punished as other countries must not see that leaving is easy. If they vote to stay all previous concessions won would be swept away as they could treat us with contempt in the knowledge that we will never leave. Both sides lied, project fear being one and the land of milk and honey full of money from the other side and to be honest somewhere in the middle is the truth. So here we are and the issue for me is we either support democracy or ignore it, the people voted on a single issue and the leavers won. The EU has deliberately made it a difficult negotiation and are using the potential return to bloodshed in Ireland as their ace up their sleeve. No one wants a return to that but no PM would allow a part of the UK to be treated differently. May is in an impossible position and this has been driven by divisive people on both sides in this country and those in the EU. I am sure a deal will be done but will it be what people voted for or a fudge? What has happened is that no one in the EU wants the UK to leave as we are a nett contributor, business knows they export more to the UK than we export and we will get access via World Trade terms but even that is being made difficult by some. Will it be done by next year who knows, will we get a second vote I doubt that otherwise you go against the democracy and trust will be even further eroded in the state of politics. I hope both sides come out with some pride and we continue to work with and live by our EU neighbours who in the main are like us, good people led by self centred people who want power more than anything.1 point
