  1. Im lucky to have secured a spot on the last ever track day 8th December, got it for free for winning one of their sprint competitions Got the confirmation through, the Noise section made me smile (see below) Well no worries about the council shutting them down :D Should be quite a spectacle Noise This is and unsilenced & unrestricted event. Please feel free to be as loud as you want, in fact we encourage you to help us make as much noise as possible for out last track day! We may noise test some vehicles on the day but only in the name of curiosity and amusement.

  9. Maurici's Z4 looks good in that colour but normally I find the Z4 Roadster's rear end looks as if it has had its bum kicked, but that one in gunmetal doesn't somehow. I love the Z4 Coupé though. My son has one that's currently bobbing about aboard a container ship in the Indian Ocean en route to Sydney. Olliebeak's Z3 is a very unusual colour too, in fact I don't recall seeing one before. I love mine - it's a 2.2i Sport - but the six pots in the larger sizes (2.8, 3.0. 3.2M) are appreciating now. Hopefully my six pot will follow! A Z3M Coupé is very expensive these days. My son's: and on its way earlier this month:

  10. Self employed so spend most of the time in my 2016 Transporter. 54k miles and just over half way into the lease. Really hate driving this thing. We have a 2017 Abarth 595 that the wife uses for work and nipping to the shops/gym etc. Cant remember the last time i drove it. Only brand new car we have ever bought. Pic from when we picked it up. We ended up with this as i wanted a car as i was tired of using my Van for everything. Started looking at 911's and Granturismo's. Wife got involved and we ended up with what she wanted. And the family car. 2012 ML350. This was the wife's when she did mobile work as she needed lots of space for the all the crap she had to cart about with her. Wife no longer does mobile work so it does the baby duties now. Currently for sale if any one is interested. Hoping to replace it with a Maserati Gran Turismo. The last time i tried this we ended up with the Abarth above so should be interesting.

  12. I’ve just got my indoor cover and am over the moon with it. Fits like a glove and is excellent quality, elasticated edges for a tight fit, storage bag and also has straps if you need - they even provide little silicone covers for the plastic clips to avoid any scratches! highly recommended www.everycarcovered.com

  13. I’m aiming to be there for 0730, or a little earlier. Sounds like there will be a decent number of us there... a club garage sounds like a good idea!

  15. Yeah, I test drove an S4 a little while ago when I was considering getting something a little more practical. It was very fast, comfortable, looked great, but was somehow a little dead and boring compared to the BMW. Though undoubtedly it would be faster in the real world for much of the time, certainly with cold, wet roads @Thrustyjust has a point.. BMWs are crap in snow/ice, though winter tyres make a huge difference!

  16. She seems to spend a lot of time there Gary. There is a limit of 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' Lets you have plenty of V6 tinkering goodness, so thats a bonus though

  17. Glad to hear you will be adding a bit of ally sheet around the feet area. Regarding the fuel tank, I remember on my original JW, I used an Atco lawnmower tank which I think held about a pint and was gravity fed, with a little stop dangler at the bottom. I also remember the car being one that you wore, rather than just sitting in it. I'm really looking forwards to seeing it finished and running, which I am sure will be a new experience for you.

  18. Agreed it’s not really evident which wheels are driving most the time on my bmw... a long stab at the traction control button does remind me but then I think about the possible damage. The idea of driverless cars sounds futuristic.. everyone’s running about trying to develope them but has anyone done any market resource. Will anyone actually want to buy one. It strikes me as a very expensive taxi back from the pub.. even then you could be done for drunk incharge of a car!

  21. Originality is important to me for both rebuilds so I've steered clear of anything that wasn't available in the 1960's. It's always an option for whoever owns the car after me to do something different but in theory a reasonable gauge of aluminium should work equally as well as carbon but at the expense of a bit of extra weight.

  22. Have a great day guys, its been emotional. Favourite Rockingham moment for me was taking a new girlfriend (now Mrs H) for her first track day experience. Showing off how good a racing driver I am, stuck it in the gravel at Gracelands on the outlap.... I thinks that's the day Barny blew his first engine up too.. Of course, I'll always have the sideways wet laps enjoyed while tightly squeezed into Barnys sh*tter. Good times.

  23. Getting stuff sorted out for Sunday's last blast round Rockingham.. Looking at my photo albums, I've done eight trackdays there, and a couple of my son's race days. I remember my first visit, April 08, there was snow on the ground, icy first thing.. The sighting laps were on a damp track, and tbh, I was struggling to keep up! Hadn't a clue where it went. Thankfully the sun shone, and it turned out to be a good day. It's going to be sad driving out through the tunnel for the last time.... It looks like the weather should hopefully be better on Sunday, than it was April 08.

  25. If were into towcars, this is our old Volvo dragging the Westie to IVA . Not a 'great' experience. Bit like driving like a grandad on the roads, with allow intergalatic space to get out of busy roundabouts and sticking to 75 on the motorways Replaced by this one last year. But not fitted a towbar on this one. Volvo wanted £900 ............. so just didnt bother.
