This is my daily And believe it or not, even with a supercharged V8, on a steady run I can easily get above your 30mpg criteria. I love it. It’s a running joke between all my car friends how I change cars so often, but I’ve had this a year and no plans to change it. Can only see me doing so when an SVR comes into budget They sound great, go very well, look nice roof up or down, nice inside, dealer support is good, some good specialists out there to keep costs down.2 points

You are probably pulling 60 % round the edge of the fan and 40% through the radiator currently.1 point

Thing is, a “computer error” is an easy cop out. But if you have dozens more booked on than the maximum allowed, surely you should get back to the last of the late boomers and apologise with a full refund and maybe a discount code to smooth the waters. The cynic in me says it’s convenient to “discover” the problem on the actual day long after the money is in the bank. I booked in August, so there must have been time to work out the numbers! I’m sure 60 drivers equates to making a profit, so 120 and you are more than quids in - making the offer of a free place on a date in December very easy to cover especially when most won't bother taking it up.1 point

+1 for coolex . speak to Alistair he's really helpful he welded mounting brackets on mine I only had to tell him what make and model the fan was I was so pleased with there service I called them again when the radiator on the V16 Cummings generator (which is about 6ft x6ft ) needed removing and rebuilding and once again they came up trumps1 point

If anyone wants to speak with someone who does know what they are on about and can give advice, call George on 07830 750 950 and say I put you onto him. He runs http://www.roadtrackraceparts.com and his stock is held within the ASH building, so he's there all the time. He'll do you a good price and you'll get the same or better service than buying direct from ASH1 point

+1 for Auto Silicone hoses (ASH), but you need to know what you want, especially at the trade counter, they are not the people to ask for advice, but great if you have a shopping list. http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/ They are in Mirfield which is just down the road from me, so very convenient AutoSiliconeHoses.comAP HouseHolmebank Business ParkMirfieldWF14 8NA0844 800 51991 point

I purchased hoses from Auto Silicon hoses (ASH) 1 meter of each - 8mm, 16mm & 32mm plus a 90 degree elbow reducer 35mm to 32mm I also purchased a Coolex Radiator, but did not have the fan mounted on it. I'd advise having it done though as I'm going to get it shipped back to them over the winter to get a fan mounted direct to the radiator. I did have cooling problems while on track before but with the coolex and a ducted nose it's been great, the only remaining issue is that it can get very hot while moving slowly or stationary, which is why I'm going to get the fan mounted on the radiator rather than on the Westfield supplied mount which leaves a gap between the fan and radiator and therefore reduces its efficiency.1 point

The profile of the mounting points is slightly different, newer compared to old, but to be honest, don’t let that put you off; even the “correct” profile isn’t a perfect fit. If doing some work on them anyway, I’d just re-shape them a bit, if necessary. Great idea by the way, the old AA Composites style screen seemed to work well as a compromise between quick windscreen/aeroscreen change over.1 point

Just had the brakes on my car apart, for discs (new grooved) and pads (mintex1144) clearance is about the same as your car before and after and it's been fine.1 point

As above regards clearance and the pads I would derust that disc whilst you are fiddling about with wheel off and give it a thin coat of paint1 point

Calipers looks ok,if you can spin the disk and it's not touching the calipers that's ok. I think the pads will be ok after you have bled them all up. Start furthest away so N/S/R outer first then the inner then O/S/R outer then inner. N/S/F outer then inner then O/S/F outer then inner. I bleed twice then use on the road for a few weeks then bleed again to get all the micro bubbles out. Hope this makes sense.1 point

Polo rad can cope pretty well with a Zetec. Did Le Mans in 40 plus deg one year and the Zetec was spot on Sat in that temp for 2 hrs getting into the car park and temperature was controlled. So, I would question the original being efficient or slightly tired. Is it holding temperature when at speed ? Also on how the fan is on the rad. is it right up to the face ? How good is its operation ? Something like a Spal fan will move more air and control temperature better than a standard one. Just some thoughts.1 point

Proper exhaust that for track days too Mine now on its 2nd year annual service. Gearbox, engine and diff oil. Bleed clutch and brakes , topped battery up as low ( daft place with heat to stick a battery behind the rad !!) Changing the gearbox oil from Comma ( silkolene) to Valvoline GL4 has been a revelation for shifting . Also put fully syn Fuchs GL5 in the Mazda diff and it all runs sweeter.1 point

The Intatrim seats I’ve seen and tried have been excellent quality, he does some really great work on general trim too. However, I would try a sample of the sort of seat you fancy first. They use quite a different construction technique to the Westfield Sports Seat on some of their seats, and those that have got used to the Sports Seats don’t always get on with them. (The Intatrims, or at least those I’ve tried, don’t use the sprung, foam soft bases on a tubular steel frame, that is open to the back and underneath, like Westfield - which gives quite a deep feeling, soft seat squab. They seem to mainly use a moulded, (GRP?) seat shell, with the foam upholstery over the top of that. Gives a nice light, strong construction, but can mean the seats feel quite firm by comparison. Some love that, some don’t! Just depends on your personal preferences and what you’re used to. Oh and if you like using your car all year round, he does a heated seat option, which whilst it might sound a luxury, I’m told by everyone that’s gone for it, is superb for winter motoring!1 point

Whoever was the first owner of my factory-built car, he ticked every box on the options list. When I got it, it came with a full hood and bag, tonneau cover, wind deflectors and bag, and a perfect-fit indoor dust cover that I can only describe as a 'onesie'! The cover is made from a heavy sweatshirt material, so can stretch and breathe, is thick enough to protect from small knocks that seem to happen in your garage and is so well shaped there is a bulge for the spare tyre.1 point

First test with the new engine and wheels at Blyton yesterday. Had an issue with the tyres (AR1's) that I couldn't get warm as it was freezing and a snapped ARB.. Still very happy with how it performed.1 point
