  1. I will be travelling up to Stoke on Trent on 11/10/18, from Birmingham but can also get anything from the Westfield factory, as long as it can fit into a VW Tiguan. I will be making this journey occasionally over the next few months so if you need anything transporting either way feel free to ask.

  3. I'm sure you could charm them into extended, as you were so shocked by your incident you were unable to type for 24 Hours Alternatively @Greenstreak-Andy D has a spare pair in maroon that could be painted to match Rita?

  4. Oh absolutely, even over the summer season, when more Westfields are out to play, members, (and prospective members alike) are always welcome at local meets, regardless of whether they have a car yet, let alone a running on the road car. - If there’s a run out planned, have a word with the AO, we can almost always find you a passenger seat in a Westfield, for the run. (Though bear in mind, occasionally, some runs aren’t circular, so it might not always be quite so practical.) Winter season, with fewer cars at meets is the perfect time to chat through winter upgrade plans - and new build advice. Don’t forget there’s also a raft of local knowledge to take advantage of, not just about the cars themselves, but about local specialists and services, be it Tyre fitters, MOT stations or rolling roads and geo specialists. Equally, you will often find local members happy to loan out things like engine stands and cranes, or the occasional specialised tool. Just as usefully, if there’s something really throwing you, many a time, a local member or two have called round to help throw a second and even third set of eyes on a problem. Though in truth, genuine problems are fairly few and far between. Most “issues” simply need a slight change of tack, or different approach. (Obviously, this is aimed at others coming along and reading the thread, rather than the original poster, who I’m pretty sure will be attending his own area meets! )

  5. Came across this event yesterday and (as I'm a bit of a rally fan) wondered if anyone from the South West would be interested in a meet on Sat 20th October at Wiscombe? Weather dependant for me as I have no weather gear but will keep my fingers crossed for no rain. http://lombardrallybath.co.uk/spectators-where-to-watch/

  6. I only wear a crash helmet in the winter when the wind chill is too much to handle.Absolutley love the raw feeling ,foam lined chopper glasses ,ear plugs snood and cap a must .Nearly all flies deflected up to roll bar but the odd strike ,stings for a few seconds .Not for everyone I know but to be honest I find the helmet a bit claustrophobic . I always make the kids wear a helmet though .

  7. If things go well at Lymm we should get to Chapel about 9.45/ 10.00, don't know were Ferodo is but we are going to do the loop down to Edale then up and back down Winnets Pass then onto Ladybower, there is a car park just after the turn off for Edale on the left we will wait there

  10. To be fair I missed it out and then edited to say red. I obviously wasn't quick enough. I may well part out eventually if people express an interest in the bigger parts but a sale of the full set is my preference.

  11. Have been in a similar situation over a fitted wardrobe years ago. The whole point of going with that particular supplier was their reputation installation wise. However the team that did it didn’t seem great, and once done presented an invoice for the balance (the installation) from a different company. At the time, there didn’t seem much alternative but to pay. Then the sliding doors started jamming after tracks buckled/moved, and ended up going through the same rigmarole. The small claims court decided that while I had paid the sub contractor, I had been put in a situation where with the work done before I found out they weren’t the original contractor, I hadn’t had much choice. And that I had commissioned the main contractor to do the work, supply the furniture and fittings etc and that the duty of care was with them. I “won” my case, (and did hear later that the original contractor had then taken the subby to court! )

  16. Yes, well done Howard. Less than 2.5 points separating the first 3. Looks like the scoring format is working well, despite the criticism from some quarters in recent years.

  17. Worked extremely well for me doing my build thread, as other have said put up as many photos as you go as the combined eyes here saved me on several occasions spotting mistakes or better ways of doing things. I'd suggest reading as many builds that are close to what you intend to build to see the process others have followed, and use them as a template to guide you. The supplied build manual (if any as I did not have a 250 one) as a basic guide to the sequence, and I'd recommend sticking to that if you can as for example if you put the engine/gearbox in before the wiring loom you will likely end up taking it out again. Be interesting to understand what you have ordered, and intended use for the car, as the collective wisdom here can often help? I'd also HIGHLY recommend getting along to your local area group get togethers where you will likely find a like minded group of people who in my experience have also become good friends, you don't have to have a WF to be part of the group, as it took me best part of a year from my first meeting to getting my WF on the road.

  20. Perhaps Karcher have gone down the same road as Dremel: drop the price (and consequently the quality) and take the flak?

  22. When I built my Westfield in 2009 the kit came with discovery rears calipers on the front and gulf calipers on the rears. When I fitted the Hispec just bolted them on with out changing anything else and they work really well. I use the D'S 2500 Ferodo pads

  23. Less metal, recycled parts and limited mileage. Westfields are greener than a Prius over their respective lifetims, I'll wager.

  24. County Court test is one of reasonable-ness rather than beyond reasonable doubt. I agree that close examination of the various names, addresses and written (text or whatever) information including invoices, brochures, websites and ANYTHING you can gather to support your reasonable understanding of what you were getting and which shows the retailer to be behaving unreasonably is the path to follow. I also agree that your claim is against the retailer I had a similar issue with my sprint car (when it was still used on the road) where the sump was badly damaged by raised ironwork in some badly lit and unsigned road cold planing. I contacted the council who tried to pass me on to their subcontractor. My (successful) argument was that the roads are the councils responsibility from start to finish. My final point is that there are often "incentives" to think about. For example you may say that if the floor is fixed to your satisfaction and within an acceptable timescale (say, 30 days) you will waive claiming your out of pocket expenses, whatever they may be. If they don't then the claim will include you out of pocket. This is reasonable and in fact generous and a County Court Judge would I hope look favourably on this.

  29. Hi Paul, A friend of mine had a similar issue with flooring, he posted a you tube vid to highlight it. They eventually went to mediation and settled out of court.
