  2. Myself, Gary and @tex decided to go down GlenEtive in Scotland late at night for an adventure....not in a rude way either. We did mile upon mile of twisty, single track road by candlepower. We had a great time.

  3. First 'proper' ride out (shakedowns and going for MOT don't count) since the winter upgrades. Glorious weather in the Peak District yesterday.

  4. So I've owned the car less than a month and upgraditis has started already... MSA roll bar was first up, not a job I would like to do again! Certainly it would seem to be simpler if fitting as part of a full build so you could assemble before the body is fitted to make an accurate jig. Anyway, you work with what you've got! A slight frustration was that the rear tub is fitted with a different gap on the off side and this resulted in having to cut into the boot box area, but it all gets covered up nicely so no great issue other than messing with my head when I was trying to measure up! The other issue being that whilst you can measure all day long you cannot predict exactly the angle the bar will finally bolt down onto the chassis... Luckily it all turned out pretty ok. Still to fit the grp covers. Given this is my first time working with grp I’m quite pleased with results. There was a dire moment when first testing the bar position and it got stuck with one bolt plate over the body and one under - tolerances were a little too tight! Suffice to say holding that bar for myself for too long wasn’t going to happen so I had to give it a bit of abuse and luckily nothing snapped. And I've fitted a removable winter hand warmer, just need to get a furry knob to go with it now... Anyway, a few pictures, including a shot of the two simple yet effective cardboard templates.

  5. Today at the Ponderosa parked next to a Seight in a lovely colour. I didn't see the owner but I did see it purr out the car park.

  10. If your not on a TF day you could always (sacrilege!) back off a bit on the long flat out sections, but for me, for TF, I'd take the M5. Going to the hassle of trailering the Westie there I'd feel under a lot of pressure to do as many laps as possible...(one last lap syndrome...)

  11. What speed is the Busa maxing out at? I can’t help think you’ll spend quite a bit of it bouncing off the Rev limiter in 6th?

  12. Tied up with "things" on the sunny days this week! No plans for Friday, but grey start to the day. Sun appeared 3ish, so jump in the Westfield and we had a nice run down to Lyme Regis. Walk along The Cobb and an ice cream for tea, what more could you want. Nice run home as the sun was setting. Wall to wall sunshine this morning, so after walking the dogs, decided on another Westie trip to Dorset, this time to the village of Pallington east of Dorchester. Our destination was a place called "Sculpture by the Lakes" which friends had recommended. Fascinating place, a number of sculptures, mostly cast bronze in a lovely setting around, and in some lakes. Guy called Simon Gudgeon is the artist, his wife has created the gardens and lake settings, very creative couple. Very relaxed place, got its own cafe with good food and drink, they encourage visitors to relax and take their time wandering around. A few photos of some of the sculptures. Interesting place to visit, I'm not exactly an "arty" sort of person, but I enjoyed it, and was fascinated trying to work out how the sculptures were made. They're hollow, thin wall bronze, and think lost wax casting must feature in the way the sections are made. Can recommend this as a pleasant place to spend a relaxing rew hours if you happen to be in the area. Rounded off the day with a gentle chug home to Somerset.

  14. Spot in the money Ben. I’ve said it before but if I was building again it would be a Mazda. Engines and gearboxes are cheap enough to be almost consumables. On top of that it doesn’t cost a huge amount to get 200+ bhp with a supercharger or 300+ bhp with a turbo as @KugaWestie can no doubt verify.
