  2. Haha - yeah why not. Have to rebuild it first - the bottom bracket is seized in and foobar'd - pretty sure all the bits are there somewhere, including the Judy's with what must be very hard elastomers by now. "Judys hard elastomers" defo sounds very wrong!

  5. As usual, meet at McDonalds, Ollerton, NG22 9DT 9.30am, Saturday 22nd September for the short drive to the GBS factory, or meet us there at 10am. Lashings of free tea, coffee, cake and biscuits are on offer by the factory for a small donation to charity, normally the air ambulance. There are lots of interesting cars and people kicking around to have a look at and chat to. Afterwards, if anyone has the time, we will be going for lunch at an interesting new venue, only a few miles away, I expect to go there about 11/11.30am. The weather is forecast good at the moment, but should that change check this page to see if we are still going before you set off. Just a side note, if it is your impending 50th birthday you might be expected to wear old granny's clothes, complete with nail varnish and pop socks, it's not compulsory though Anyone joining us for fun, frolics and cake?

  8. With new parts (they are all Chinese from just a few manufacturers) you'd be around £400 - £600 depending on what you choose and what else gets upgraded along the way... Oh, and unless your budget is large (well over £1000), in my view you'll always get a better finished result by converting a nice base bike, rather than buying a new complete ebike. Plus you then have the option to ride above 15mph with assistance off road...

  12. The rating of the incoming fuse is about the capacity of the supply, not your own consumer kit, so that probably explains the variable costs. Nowt if the supply is up to providing 100A, up to £1100 if they need to run a bigger feeder (assuming its even feasible). Certainly, updating your own side of things with a re-wire sounds wise though..... FWIW, we have an 80A fuse on the incomer and not had an issue. Peak demand I've seen from time to time has been around 9kW (40A), so well within the 80A we have and also the 60A you have. If you had a 7kW EV charger (32A) and had the oven, microwave, kettle, MIG welder, vacuum and 60" plasma telly on all at once, you might push your luck When we moved in here we had an old CU with 6 circuits I think it was. House had been rewired at some point in the not too distant past but the CU had been left. Our supply is overhead (TT) so came in through a big RCD anyway. Now have a new split-load CU with 2 RCDs and many more circuits, mostly just for convenience.

  17. I'd prioritise a new RCD consumer unit, earth bonding and checking the shower wiring above everything else, personally. 60A is plenty enough to kill or start a fire...

  19. The snow clearing lady was my post. I don’t know who censored the post as I have not been informed as to who removed it or why it was removed. If it caused offence to anyone then I apologise and would have removed it myself if asked. Blatman’s very seductive green lady must have passed the board of sensors, I’ll try and Photoshop the snow clearing lady to make her green. Or any other acceptable colour.

That is a quite repeating topic… that to be hones was solved in an experimental way once for all several years ago when a former sprint competitor and engineer, well known for some of us, took his caterham to MIRA’s wind tunnel. The session wasn’t quite enough to actually find the magical receipt for a seven shaped car, but drawn quite a lot the lines to follow in the future. To add up to Dave’ comments, From memory (I’m too lazy to search the link) those were the outcomes: There is only two ways to improve the aero of seven shaped car: Reduce front lift. Reduce overall drag. Guidelines for front lift limit: Reduce AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE the amount of air going straight under the nose: IE Splitter. CSR style front cycle wings were beneficial to reduce lift straight from the wheel. Front canards around the nose. In fact, some somehow big front wings were done… and at the same time were diverting the air off the turbulent area (wishbones and shocks) so it helped with the drag. Mudflaps should be avoided by all means to avoid front lift Gidelines to reduce Drag. Front cyclye wings as near as possible to the tyre. Side doors/half doors (depends if you are in windscreen or not) Windscreen off Reduce positive pressure in engine bay, wich it means flared sides, limited underside air entrance and NO V8 scoops… Full flat floor (includes sealing transmission tunnel and engine bay and rear tray) From memory too, I remember that a rear finn difusser didn’t make ANY difference on lift. It was tested in loads of different positions, heights and car rake… It was a reason for it that I can’t recall it… Probably the nature of the full turbulent air going through the car, doesn’t helps to have good quality air in the rear undertry. And if placed there with the wrong slope, or without being spaced, yes, it creates a parachute/balloon Then… going back to the original topic, Just put it there. You won’t notice it anyway… and carbon looks soooo sooo nice!!

  21. Went to my local car show yesterday - over 800 cars/bikes. Plenty of variety too from Austin Sevens to big American V8s and a Westfield. I didn't get the Westfield owners name but it was really nice chatting to you. Mark

  22. Well, I had the sad experience of watching my baby being driven away to a new home this morning, so that marks the end of my current Westfield build and ownership experience. Who's to say it won't happen again, but for the moment, I shall not be renewing WSCC membership. That said, the new owners have strict instructions to take over my membership, so there will be some new faces soon. I'd just like to say thanks to all of you, especially those in the Cotswold group and those of you who shared track days at Hullavington and Abingdon with me - all of whom have made the whole Westfield ownership experience a real pleasure. The fun, friendship, banter and advice during the build and after and the motoring fun over the last 7 years are a testament to what a great club, this is and what a nice bunch of people you are. We shall meet again, I'm sure, but until then, thanks and drive safely. Mooch

  23. Here’s mine, my first Westfield and god, I love it!! Few little things to make it mint .... like she’s on the original software (alpha webcon ecu) and spins over a bit before she starts up, once starts it’s like it’s on carbs for couple of minutes, missfires when you try to rev it but I just let it warm for couple minutes and then it’s 100% smooth and sounds epic! I’ve also got a split upper balljoint boot which got through the mot somehow before I bought it but that’s just arrived from Westfield are these the same as another classic car like a cortina or anything just so I know where I can get them in the future? (In on alloy uprights with standard ap front brakes)
