Hope these help..... I used a laser pointer fastened in line from the top rose-joint, using a piece of plastic pipe, and pointing to the centre of the bottom joint to mark the centre of the brace bar and it's angle in the boot. Once marked up it was a case of easing the slot up to the right size for the 50mm OD plastic drain pipe (B&Q). Any questions, ask away3 points

I got to work at about 9am, and was unloaded by 9.15. By 10.45 the spongy brake pedal was a lot better, so happy with that now. I spent the next couple of hours chasing an electrical gremlin around my trailer wiring loom. This is now fixed so another result. I then spent the afternoon stripping out the front seats, carpets, sound deadening, seat belts, plastic trims/heater ducts etc. I then fitted the new seats on runners and then the new harnesses. Passenger side was first2 points

Glad my roll bar shows up at least Excellent navigation. I sort of kept recognising where we were then you turned ! A good test of my suspension and made me remember a tinted visor doesn't work too well in the dark and my 4 inch headlights are for day time use only...... Great fun.2 points

As a new member I thought it would be appropriate to introduce myself. I'm Rob and a recent 'ish' convert to the Westfield world which I am far loving. I bought her from a former member (Gadget if anyone knows him) earlier in the year and have been busy upgrading her ever since. I sold my Stage 4 SC VX220 as I struggled to get on with it and it was a huge money pit that was bleeding me dry.. I also had a brief time owning a 7 three years ago I thought I would go Westfield.. I have decided not to use her on the road so its going to be a Sprint/Hill Climb Track day only car. I've so far added an aero screen, sorted out the wiring and lost of other bits, (more to do) had a full geo, fitted an SBD exhaust, forged Red top on tapered Jenvies, flowed Costcast head, dry sump, dropped the gearing from 3.9 to 4.7 and new wheels and tyres.. Its not back yet, and its taking ages, but I guess you cant rush these things... I will need to upgrade my gearbox this winter and not sure where to go in terms of what to use.. I would love a Sequential but they are out of my price range after the engine work, so maybe a Straight Cut Type 9? I'm running 15s as 13s wont fit over the VW Golf rear callipers, but to be honest I found it fine at Blyton and Donni (with the old stock Red Top) so I'm going to stick with them. I met a couple of really nice guys at Shelsley Walsh last week (John and his immaculate cream Red Top) and some very helpful guys on the FB group so I certainly think I made the right choice buying my first Westie. :-) Thanks Rob1 point

A cracking run last night, thank you to all those that joined us, I must admit I was nervous about how many we'd get at the Manifold Inn, (cracking food by the way, if (when) we do similarr again, and like me, you don't really have time to get to the meet and have tea first). I think Ian and I had both been of a similar mind; we were doing it, even if it was just us and we met everyone else at the Swetty Arms!! As it was, with Ian, Jon and I in the cars, pluse Matt and Steve on the bikes it was great. (even if apparently the roads were just to "roady" for the poor bikes, in the dark.1 point

Ditto, good to meet up for a chat with you and your nephew(?) Carl, we get out quite often that way, especially with @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AO and the Peak District crew. I know you plan on pulling the engine over winter, but some of us do do carry on through the winter, with just the odd short break off the road where the odd winter upgrade/maintenance demands it, so do keep an eye out on the events section, and you should be able to fit more runs in around your continuing restoration.1 point

from North Oxfordshire. An eight hour tour home (including the old Severn Bridge so I'm guessing you enjoyed the Welsh Borders and Forest of Dean also) is an inspired way to settle into Westfield ownership - Well Done! Simon1 point

If I could think of a way of justifying this as a pinned post in the FAQ section of a car club, I would do!! That’s amazing, I’ve spoken to Decorator’s and builders etc over the years on how to get that infernal stuff off cleanly and safely and no ones ever come up with a way! Thank god I’ve none anywhere at the moment, but for the future Geoffrey, thanks, that’s a cracking tip!1 point

Well I popped to Screwfix this morning and brought a bottle of zinffer's DIF and a tiger tool guessing I've got nothing to lose apart from £20 if it didn't work and I needed to rip it all out So after 15 minutes soaking the woodchip I set to it with the scraper and boy was I amazed the woodchip just peeled of and I didn't even damage the backing paper of the plaster board . So now the woodchip is of I'll get the plaster board plastered before I carry on . So thanks again @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AOfor the top tip1 point

I completely agree with you there but she is tolerant with the Westy up grades and my weekends away watching Motorsport1 point

This is my 2nd Westfield and night and day difference between them. So pleased I took advice from people who know. Had almost 6-7 weeks now and the car has been out 3-4 times a week, even today, had a little run out and got a bit wet, but then was fun drying and cleaning the car. Was only a little shower. The purpose of the post - was just to encourage anyone on the fence of a purchase to just go for it! Almost 2000 miles and not a single glitch :-) love making it shine!1 point
