I went for sidescreens and SBFS half hood, complete with easy in (grandad ) zips, complete with a its own bag. Very pleased, quick to put on, effective in heavy rain, with advantage that if rain stops you can just unzip, end drive on with a targa top! Does draw a bit of moisture in from the rear, on the move, but not uncomfortable. I've got full carpets, and on a recent 3 day outing in heavy rain and occasional drizzle, we stayed dry, and carpets survived well. Just a bit damp behind seats in each rear corner. Soon dried home in the garage. I use a Walker St Claire cockpit cover whenever I park up, particularly effective over the half hood. Havent had any problem with the hood flapping onto my head, mind you my 250 has a taller windscreen. You can see the grandad zips here:-3 points

I can't fully comment on the direct difference between half and full hood but can comment on the half hood, as it's all I've got and I've no intention of getting a full hood. I've used the half hood in a variety of weather conditions and it's been excellent. I've used it with both wind deflectors and doors, while it offers good protection with wind deflectors it won't keep you fully dry with my right side slowly getting damp. Generally when I've used it like this it been as an emergency so to a degree I've been a little damp to start as I've had to put it up in the rain but at least it's very quick to put on and in general it's always with me. When used with doors it does a good job of keeping the rain out in the very wettest of conditions you can feel some dampness around the neck area but nothing to bad and having the back open does keep air flowing through the cabin. I used it last while traveling 60 miles or so on a very wet Sunday to travel up to Outlon Park for the gold cup with no problems at all both my passenger and I were fine and arrived dry and warm (with the half hood and doors on the heater is far more effective in keeping the cabin hot) what I realize now is that the open rear may not be an issue when moving but it can be when stationary, depending on the wind direction. so I now need to get a shower cap. The half hood and quite often doors are also very useful when travelling long distances at high speed on motorways or dual carriageways, as they stop the buffeting, turning what can be quite a trying journey in to one that's no bother at all.3 points

Reluctantly for sale is my 2009 Westfield 2.0 Sport Duratec Yellow & Black (The best combination ) 2000cc Ford Duratec Engine MT75 Gearbox Limited Slip Diff KMS Throttle Bodies & ECU Simpson Custom Made Bonnet Exit Exhaust System Alloy Radiator Long Range Fuel Tank Team Dynamics Pro Race 15” Black Alloys with Toyo R888 Tyres Westfield AP Racing 4 Pot Front Brakes Westfield Rear Anti Roll Bar Race Technology Digi Dash Savage Switches LED Rear Lights Carbon Fibre Dashboard Carbon Fibre Boot Lid Carbon Fibre Rear Panel Carbon Fibre Aero Screen Carbon Fibre Tunnel Top Carbon Fibre Half Doors Carbon Fibre Side Panels Carbon Fibre Sill Strips Caged Full MSA Roll Cage JK Composite Seats Procomp Shocks Cobra Immobiliser FIA Cut Off/ Kill Switch Removable Momo Steering Wheel Oil Catch Tank Wide Track Front Wishbones Detachable Rear Arches Lightweight Gel Battery 4 Point Westfield Harnesses High Level LED Brake Light (I think I have covered everything) The car was built by me from Westfield supplied parts and registered on 1st March 2009. It has covered 8750 miles and has been serviced every year regardless of the annual mileage. I have always used synthetic oil and replaced the filter. It has always started on the 1stturn of the key and has never let me down in all the time I have owned it. It has evolved over the years to the current setup, and I have enjoyed every moment of ownership The car is track focused but equally suited to touring, having done 2 trips to the LeMans Classic. The car was rolling road tuned at NMS in 2013 and got 160BHp at the wheels. The car is in excellent condition however there are a couple of minor cracks in the gel coat and some stone chips on the rear arches which are to be expected on a 9-year-old car. The powder coating on the lower front wishbones needs touching up. MOT due 14/03/2019. The car is currently on a private plate which will be changed on the sale of the car Very reluctant sale due to not having the time to use it. I am sure I will regret selling but at the moment it seems like the right thing to do. I am located in SW Birmingham (B31) 10 mins from M42 J2 or M5 J4 £12,750 ono PM me if you have any questions or call me on 07790 779787 I haven’t advertised the car elsewhere at the moment, I wanted to gauge interest from the WSCC collective. I will add more photos when I get time Thanks Paul2 points

Peaky Blunders! As this may possibly the last run out for an evening meet of the season, we're doing something different this time, with a run through the Peak District, starting at the Manifold Inn, at Hulme End, in the Manifold valley, running through some fantastic parts of the Peak District, past Rudyard Lake, then back across to the Swettenham Arms! The run should take around an hour and a half, or just under, according to the sat nav(!) So we need to leave the Manifold Inn reasonably promptly, 7.45pm at the latest. This will get us to the Swettenham Arms a little after nine pm. Anyone that can't make the full run, is very welcome to join us at Swettenham for a drink and a natter. So, just to be clear, this month, we will not be at the Golden Pheasant!1 point

Sadly, we can't get any data out of the Omex 630 ECU. It's partly locked. I've been asking Omex for over a year to unlock this, with no success. Are you committed to an Omex ECU?1 point

Looks like everyone is holding on to the good cars then! It's the end of summer soon, you don't need your Westy any more, sell it to me1 point

ZK or FW body style shouldn't affect the fitting of your wind deflectors as they use the same scuttle.1 point

There was an Aux power connector if i remember correctly (Purple I think) in the under-dash loom, but i would recommend fitting an in-line fuse in there somewhere as a precaution. On my build journey I was always going to fit something for my iPhone, so i built in a 6-way plug that carried full live 12V, Switched 12V and a lighting 12V along with grounds so I could be selective post IVA with expansion kit. If your going to mount under the dash on the tunnel you could roughly follow what i did with a bit of sheet aluminium (about 1/2 way down this page) and bolt to the dash hoop at the top. i used 50mm wide Velcro on the bottom and it has not moved at all. would be a good time to fit a USB plug at the same time if you can fit one in, plenty around on eBay etc.1 point

A few of us went to a small local show at the Kirklees light railway show site on Sunday, weather was really great and we had a row of 3 of us on display with lots of people coming up for a chat as you can see I took the opportunity to get my bonnet off, as usual, but kept getting people asking why i had put a diesel in a kit car as the engine plate has 2.0 GTDi on it, which made the rest of my fellow Westie guys laugh and take the p***, which was actually very funny. Ford ECOBOOST 2.0 GTDI (GASOLINE DIRECT INJECTION TURBOCHARGED ENGINE) Big thanks to Craig for all the micky taking and the pictures1 point

We'd hoped there might have been a few more last minute takers for this, that had been hanging on to see what the weather is like etc. But the numbers don't currently stack up, I'm afraid. Don't forget, this is open to all, not just the Cheshire group Thanks John, yes that's a great point, the units are very close, on the same, quiet, (at weekends), industrial estate.1 point

Date is the problem for me, I'll be in Spain. Great idea, don't know why it's not better supported. If you run another one (please do) then ask local AO's to publicise the event, either at club meets, blats or by text message. Westfield World too. Next spring would be ideal, after winter mods and fettling. Presume the units are close enough to avoid the need for road tax if SORN'd, and some members have trailers that they don't mind sharing. All in all, a great idea, just needs a bit more publicity.1 point

Yep, I've got the SBfS shower cap, too. It's excellent, though it is more tailored to the car, compared to the enveloping Walker St Claire style, which is also excellent.1 point

Can't answer that one for you I'm afraid, as in the previous answer, there's no right or wrong way of doing it. Some like either solution, others just don't get on with one, but are fine with the other, if you see what I mean. Do bear in mind though, that wind deflectors and half doors will do a really great job of keeping the bad drafts away from you at speed, even deflecting a lot of rain or spray, at speed. But they offer zero protection from the sides when you slow down enough and for anything much bigger than heavy rain. But the deflectors do offer a fantastic "open/exposed" driving experience without all the buffeting at speed.1 point

Half Hoods are very good, if getting in is tricky with a full hood, SBfS offer the Easy In option, of a zip up opening in the hood, so you can climb in and out, much more like normal. With side screens on, and a way of attaching the hood to at least the top rear corner of the sidescreens, you stay remarkably dry and toasty inside, even in heavy rain in the depths of winter! Mind you, if the wind catches you right when you're moving slow, you can get a small amount of spray blown in over your shoulders, or from behind, but this is unusual. The boot box does need a lid or tonneau cover though, or you'll quickly acquire a portable aquarium whilst stopped at traffic lights etc. One point though, and I'm not sure how it affects the Easy In's, is that most find they need to make a pair of roof supports - typically just a pair of rails that sit on the top of the windscreen at the front, and the RAC roll bar at the back. Without these, half hoods can have a tendency to flap at speed and hit your head. Amusing at first, but on a long run, gets quite uncomfortable, fast. As for when parked up. You really need a shower cap type product of some sort, the half hood on it's own is not sufficient to keep rain out from all directions.1 point

As regards having back issues, and a full cage; it might not be such a problem. Many, and I was one, get into a Westfield with full cage by climbing the side of the cage, getting legs over the top (above the driver's seat) whilst sitting on the side of the cage, and then lower oneself into the seat. Much easier than trying to climb in through the side, under the top of the cage, particularly for those with bad backs or who are on the larger side of average! Getting out is the same, but in reverse.1 point

Didnt know about the Granton show until too late today. I couldnt make Boness due to work but I could have made Granton. A friend told me about it after he got back.... He was one of my helpers in getting my engine replaced and said he spoke to the owners of a few Westfields. Few photos he sent me. Anyone here?1 point

Glad you all enjoyed it.. We were at Grantown Motormania today, so couldn't be with you, but we were at Bo'ness yesterday and got soaked in the afternoon. Fantastic event though. Will definitely be back next year. David1 point

So after the early start and some interesting navigation into Bo’ness we had a great day out and despite a couple of call offs had 5 Westies and Jim’s tiger on show. The weather held and keeping the stand manned still left plenty of time to go and visit trade / food stands, ogle the many classics on show, drool over the classic racers and generally talk Westies Many thanks to all who came in car or on foot ( have to start looking at the for sale ads Matt ) a long day as left at 4am and westy in bed and me indoors at 10pm and just over just under 350 miles, lol, but wouldn’t have missed it1 point

440 on the drivers side and 430 on the passenger side. (The diff bulge isn't that bad and I've never heard anyone say the seats don't fit because of this) The end of the foot well is 5mm smaller on the passenger side as well 230mm rather than 235mm.1 point
