  1. Doing a full body swap in a day is stressful but satisfying! Although I seemed to pick the same RAL code as my recycling bin...

  3. I was a member of the RAC for a few years and found them to be great. I have since joined Grinder on the internet and now whenever I break down in a lay-by there are a few helpful chaps turn up within 15 minutes. Very efficient.

  4. As a new member I thought it would be appropriate to introduce myself. I'm Rob and a recent 'ish' convert to the Westfield world which I am far loving. I bought her from a former member (Gadget if anyone knows him) earlier in the year and have been busy upgrading her ever since. I sold my Stage 4 SC VX220 as I struggled to get on with it and it was a huge money pit that was bleeding me dry.. I also had a brief time owning a 7 three years ago I thought I would go Westfield.. I have decided not to use her on the road so its going to be a Sprint/Hill Climb Track day only car. I've so far added an aero screen, sorted out the wiring and lost of other bits, (more to do) had a full geo, fitted an SBD exhaust, forged Red top on tapered Jenvies, flowed Costcast head, dry sump, dropped the gearing from 3.9 to 4.7 and new wheels and tyres.. Its not back yet, and its taking ages, but I guess you cant rush these things... I will need to upgrade my gearbox this winter and not sure where to go in terms of what to use.. I would love a Sequential but they are out of my price range after the engine work, so maybe a Straight Cut Type 9? I'm running 15s as 13s wont fit over the VW Golf rear callipers, but to be honest I found it fine at Blyton and Donni (with the old stock Red Top) so I'm going to stick with them. I met a couple of really nice guys at Shelsley Walsh last week (John and his immaculate cream Red Top) and some very helpful guys on the FB group so I certainly think I made the right choice buying my first Westie. :-) Thanks Rob

  5. Car is now SOLD £12000 to we buy any car. One down, one to go, just the MX5 to sell now, which is a bit more difficult because I am actually in love with it

  7. Usual quality from Mick. Pre-preg and autocaved carbon. NEW and NEVER ASSEMBLED. Those bits were meant to be sold as a package with the car, but the buyer wanted the car cheaper, so, I keept the carbon. I want what I knicked of the price. £600 Only collection from Crewe. No offers on this, for less they will go to the new car, and good luck finding this parts for sale again. Sold as a package. If there is consensus to split the bill between two buyers, then is up to you to arrange it. (weights are only for ilustrative purposes... the items are quite big to make an accurate weightin with my scale)

  9. Longest day for us today driving wise, we started off at a brisk pace disembarking the boat as nakkib's 5 pints of Stella didn't agree with the boat and let's just say the cabin floor and walls were redecorated heres Nakki still a bit tender after 250 miles..

  11. While @marcusb is toeing it down to his first overnight stop to meet us in Switzerland. We, terryathome and Caroline have made it from Turin part way up to Switzerland stopping over at Lake Como. We are well up the mountain to the east right at the bottom on the lake. Can I choose hotels or what, it's fantastico. Hosts speak Yorkshire and a cable car 100m up the road so we can go on the rant downtown. Where are you Marcus, the beer is cold and the weather is in the 30's again. Love Terry, lol

  18. Thanks @IanK (Bagpuss), the hoop looks like the way to go. As long as the clearance is enough to get past mot in Aus then that's what I'll do. I think the regulation in my part of the world is for 100mm ground clearance at any point within 1m of an axle. But I'm sure I'll be able to come up with a temporary solution to get it over the pits.

  23. @Shane2me I couldn't find any better pics to show the hoop under the gearbox, so I've taken some fresh ones for you:. Note these were with no driver in. I suspect the hoop will be circa 10mm lower with me in (I'm about 70kgs)! Side view ground clearance to hoop = 83mm View from front showing hoop in respect to engine sump Sump clearance from side 90mm seat mount studs to floor clearance circa 115mm Battery tray bottom to ground clearance circa 145mm

  27. I have recently bought another Westfield hopefully I will have more luck with this one ! My last car caught fire so the car I have bought this time has a plumbed in fire extinguisher, given that I already had a freshly rebuilt nice specked Crossflow engine spare in the garage I thought it would be rude to buy anything other than a Crossflow engine car. So my membership has been renewed. My new car comes with a trailer so once I have picked it up if anyone needs the use of a trailer in the North West please give me a shout ( you are also welcome to store it for me ! )
