  1. As some of you will know, life after the Westfield for me is in the guise of a dedicated cheap track car, which is a 2002 Mini Cooper S. I bought it a few weeks ago. It has already been modified with a reducer pulley on the blower, an uprated air intake system and an alleged tweak on the Ecu. The guy I bought it from reckoned it is running 210bhp. I don't think it it is quite that high, but no doubt will find out at some point. I took it to the speed series celebration at Shelsey and discovered a seized rear brake caliper, so I replaced the rear calipers, discs and pads with new. I took it to Blyton and totally shagged the front brakes. It is an R53 model, and the front brakes are a known problem for track use. I thought I would test this known problem to see if it is true, and can confirm it is . I went from a progressively softening pedal to melted caliper seals and no pedal at all. The recommended upgrade is the facelifted R56 discs and calipers, which I now have in stock ready to fit. Blyton was a real test of the car for me. If I didn't enjoy it on track, it was destined for sale. If I liked it, it would be a keeper and a little project. You all know I like a project, so it's a keeper.

  2. I had a strange thing happen to me today. Someone threw a jar of Omega-3 capsules at me and they hit me on the head. It’s okay though, I was lucky. I only received super fish oil injuries.

  3. On another note, just seen my signature. Did I write that, or has some tricky nefarious being been at my account???

  6. 7's are quite strong little cars and once this is stripped down may well be not as bad as it looks. If you can convince your insurance company for new then all good, but if not then you may find a repair is not to difficult. Here in Australia, whilst we can source chassis's, we do not have the luxury of the factory down the road and so have become adept at repairing the space frames. From the photo this looks like a readily repairable frame. Cut the damaged bits out and replace. It would have to be much worse than what it appears in the photo for us to write the frame off.

  7. I have recently noticed my Westfield branded sausage type air filter has a rip in it :-( I don’t intend to cut the bonnet so just looking for an ‘as new’ replacement. Would prefer the Westfield branding, only for vanity reasons. See price Westfield ask can be sourced cheaper elsewhere. Anyone got one at reasonable money? https://parts.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=165 or kitcarspares.... https://www.kitspares.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=_8_58&product_id=1287&car= Thanks, Andy

  9. Siltech repaired my chassis. Looked a lot worse than this too.

  10. A new chassis is just box section welded together. it’s a lot of work changing a complete chassis and not cheep. But i’d just replace sections as long as all the pickup points are in the right place, quality welds, extra plates at joins at high load points.

  11. Nice So it can be done. @kenton That's exactly why I want a screen and half hood to get out for longer trips abroad etc. @IanK (Bagpuss) Good shout, i'll check that the weekend see if the connectors are on the loom still for wipers. Thanks all for the info.

  12. From the picture it really would be a new chassis, I’m not doubting anyone’s ability to straighten it with the right equipment, but given that this area includes the suspension and steering pickups and the time involved. I think it would be more time and cost effective to re-chassis her, not to mention your own peace of mind

  13. Haha, been there & had the sticky car. That’s another bonus for having leather seats!

  14. Today we went to Blackpool, mummy, mummy barf! Our 2 year old threw up 30 mins in. Car 6 weeks old. M6 shut due to HGV hitting a bridge. After another 30 mins managed to pull off and clean up. 3 hours later we got there. Only took them as I had a truck to sign over to new owner. Further 3 hours to get home (all windows open). Child seat out, stripped and all parts soaking. Oh the joy they bring!!!!!!

  15. Terry the WSCC is affiliated to the MSA, this provides certain benifits to all the members not just those competing in the speed series. If the club or members don't abide by their rules then ultimately it is everyone in the club that looses out.Do you want to be the person that spoils it for the rest of us?

  16. Due to a lack of response and a lack of certainty on the weather, I don't think it is worth heading out towards a thunderstorm, especially after all this great sun we have been enjoying in our cars.
