Im actually very happy with my current setup... i do have worthless mk1 mx5 as a daily... and a subaru legacy as a tow car. But that means two cars, two insurances, two road taxes, plus... the hassle that they are quite old, and despite they have been reliable till now... i know ocasionally will broke down and i will have to take care of it. I live lije this because i simpky HATE modern cars. I cant deal with them... electronics and buttons and sensors and **** all aroun the systems... till i felt in love with the beemer. That was a "sensible" solution to have a one for all, new, reliable and with warranty... hassle free for a few years. Buying the beemer and still have to keep the subaru for towing is a nosense... No matter how good can be the beemer, it wont be more fun than the mx5 XD. The only point of all the operation was to go back to a sensible 1 car solution. But clearly... wasnt meant to work.

FreeWHEEL controlled IVA compliant dash. if you added a BeamSTOP to the FreeWHEEL and got the FreeWHEEL changed over to the “Dave” firmware you could do something similar using any momentary style switches, mine are from Caterham, but Savage work too. Then you only need one button for headlights and sidelights, plus a main beam/dipped beam button. Likewise, you can have more than single speed wipers, (the Savage wiper button is just on/off if I recall). My wiper button steps through intermittent, slow, fast, off with each button press. The above is using two transmitters, one for the dashboard buttons, and one for the wheel.

Ha well I'm not speaking from much experience as I've only had mine a matter of weeks myself but listening to that induction roar and engine scream puts the biggest smile on my face. It's a decent halfway house between 2 wheels and 4. Couple of my friends have car engined sevens though and they're great fun too, so I'm sure which ever way you decide to go you'll be pleased

No idea, but I'm confused by the registration date. It says first regd. Jan 1970. But that is some years before Westfield was founded!

Here's what I did: The dash is formed from aluminum with carbon-look 3M 1080 wrap. The gauges are VDOs. Some construction details here, here, here, and here. I used the Miata's stalks for most of the switches. There are some LEDs over the steering column for the idiot lights.

Fitted when I bought the car - apparently its from PlaysKool. The finish isn't brilliant (could do with a Carbon-look hydro-dip), but the quality seems good - its quite solid

And having seen Ian's setup working in the flesh so to speak, this really is a cracking system too, though using the Arduino requires some programming and electrical skills, it's a great project, for those interested.
