  1. Spax for me, can't tell you how good they are yet as not fitted them but I have had them done in a custom colour and they look like a quality product for the money. I thought I would diverge from the usual protec option with the MD of Spax being personally interested in Westfield, as in having one himself. Thanks @Damperman.

  4. As an aside did you see Buttercups facebook entry which shows how all the planes assembled for the flypast... Just amazing!

  6. Not sure to be honest, this will be something to confirm in the morning. Personally I don't see why not but it's not up to us.

  7. Newly made 200 CAT link pipe by Mark at Wunoff. Wanted to be able to run the carbon exhaust all year round, pinched the idea from the factory S2000 secondary pipes. Gary

  10. And having seen Ian's setup working in the flesh so to speak, this really is a cracking system too, though using the Arduino requires some programming and electrical skills, it's a great project, for those interested.

  11. I know set ups like mine can sometimes be a wee bit tricky to get your head round, so for anyone that does fancy having a go at something similar - and bear in mind you can use what ever type of momentary switches you fancy, not just the round billet type, (in fact, I still have toggle switches for main beam, indicators and the horn, all in the standard Westfield positions, it’s just mine work the FREEwheel). Do feel free to give me a call to talk it through, if that’s easier, for you. 07769 908575. (It’s my work phone number, so already “out there” in the world and the web!)

  12. What is the "Dave" Firmware ? Also I thought the freewheel included the blink and beam stop so I would not need to add extra modules? Those Caterham buttons look great did you purchase them direct from Caterham.

  13. FreeWHEEL controlled IVA compliant dash. if you added a BeamSTOP to the FreeWHEEL and got the FreeWHEEL changed over to the “Dave” firmware you could do something similar using any momentary style switches, mine are from Caterham, but Savage work too. Then you only need one button for headlights and sidelights, plus a main beam/dipped beam button. Likewise, you can have more than single speed wipers, (the Savage wiper button is just on/off if I recall). My wiper button steps through intermittent, slow, fast, off with each button press. The above is using two transmitters, one for the dashboard buttons, and one for the wheel.

  15. Simple - have a clean cycling tour and a drugged cycling tour, where they can take whatever they like. It would be entertaining.

  16. There is much man wasn't designed for. Walking upright for example. But with training and preparation much can be achieved. With regards to the cycling, Froome was found to have a high level of salbutamol. I'm betting plenty of others had high levels too along with who knows what else. So if we were to take the little leap that most of the front runners were doping, Froome still beat them all. Maybe if they were all clean the result would have been the same but without lawyers. We'll never know. Surely though, whoever is prescribing the meds is as culpable as the athlete for taking them? How does one get a 2 year supply of (insert name of drug here), finish it in three weeks and then get another script filled? It's hard enough to buy a box of 24 Nurofen Plus without the pharmacist treating us (well me today) like some sort of opiate addict. Isn't there supposed to be checks and balances in the drug prescribing system? I'm sure there is a suitable painkiller for that. Just don't take too much of it. But if you do, remember this... I used to work for Sky

  17. What is your gripe Richard? You say you were intending to get there about 10, so 8.45 or 8.30 makes no difference at all to you as you would have missed the briefing either way. Yes the safety briefing is important, and I am sure everyone will listen

  18. I retired from full-time at the end of 2012 and from part time in October 2013, after 30 years with the same company and a big job with lots of travelling for the final 10 years or so. Some mates (the working ones) said I'd be a vegetable in 6 months; well I may be but I'm a very happy one! At first I did think "Oh, sh*t, what have I done" but that feeling didn't last for long and I've never looked back since; in fact I wish I'd gone sooner. I absolutely love it and my recommendation to everyone is get out as soon as you possibly can. And IMO, the most unfair question you can ask of a retired bloke is "So what do you do all day, then?". I'm up at 7 every day, I've never watched a minute of daytime TV, I'm never bored and usually busy. But ask me what I do with myself all day and I can't give you a 'meaningful' answer. As Kurt Vonnegut said, "We're put on this earth to fart around, and don't let anyone tell you any different". Enjoy it........

  19. If you want to buy one and keep for a long time without battery issues then get a good one. Cheap are rubbish on batteries and frustrating. I converted to Milwaukee many years back and batteries are still good. Unlike the Makita , Bosch etc. We have Dewault and Snapon at work and they are good. Cheap ones cost more in the long run. Or at least do with the frustration factor, short life - flat battery effect !

  20. There's plenty of time to purchase a recording device! I couldn't be without one, you can learn such a lot by watching what your doing wrong afterwards.

  21. Get this. I have an Omex 600 which is some super fancy special commision version, where you cannot take the map from it once saved.... So I contacted Northampton Motorsport who did the map and they didn’t save it either.... Spoke to omex who said if I replace my chips with the standard items I might be able to get the map from it. So I’ve bought a new ECU to pull apart in the hope I can liberate the Map and then rebuild the new ECU so it might work. Wish me luck.
