  1. It's the 1st July, have you flipped your calendar over yet? That photo was taken at an outdoor centre in the Lake District and the kids were great 'my daddy's got a R8' yes maybe, but does he welly it round the Peak District? I bet not. Well, we have Westfield's and today they were wellied around the Peak District. First we met in Matlock, there were Andy, Andrew and Mad Dog Pete, Rob, Scott, Nigel and his eldest Lee, and a Kinder Surprise. Your display in Sainsbury's was rubbish, but it did get better, in fact professional photographer Lee even organised the parking later, so we will look forward to some less 'snappy' photo's. Matlock A hot Bag Puss Lined up at the lights ready for the off Straight up Winnats Pass, only it's not very straight. My engine temperature was just touching 100 at the top of there and when we got on the level it was not coming down, I was ready to switch off I can tell you. There is a hairpin left and up hill straight after, I was thinking 'come on get down'. Winnats Pass Winnats Pass facing back To arrive at The Rambler Inn for lunch in the shade. Paul joined us here for lunch, he was overjoyed to see Maverick back in action. Apparently Paul used to go on runs out with Andy's car, Maverick, and it sounds like there are lots of juicy stories to be told. Lee has lots of real photo's to add later, but for now you will have to put up with my snaps Lunch arrived and the feasting began, it was just too hot today for a Sunday lunch Then it was time for 'Bonnet's Off' every engine has a story and it needs to be told We all set off together up Mam Nick with it's wide open views Paul and Andy were heading back North, I am not sure where Ian and Rob went but they were heading back South, leaving just the 4 of us to seek out some cake. The roads were fantastic and we had a good run, until we followed a tractor all the way up the Elton Essess, unable to overtake until the top. Chaps, we will do them again, slightly faster. Arriving at the Stone Centre back near Matlock, and our naughty little parking area. The cake arrived as we cooked in the sun. Home time. That just left Andrew and Pete to follow us on a back route, avoiding any queue's in Matlock Bath, with Scott heading South and Nigel and Lee heading for petrol. Another fantastic day out with great company, lots of different engines and their quirks, thank you for coming everyone. It's Blyton Park next weekend, so there won't be any action in the Peak District until the weekend after.

  3. Good afternoon ladies and gents, I have been floating around the forums for the past couple of months and have more recently joined up as a fully fledged member of WSCC on the back of my first Westfield purchase (I have been too busy enjoying the car until now!). A little bit about the car then, I believe this was built over the space of about 10 years, it's a 1992 SEiW kit that was first road registered in 2002 by the original builder. Unfortunately, he passed away 6 months later (Very unfortunate because it's a true credit to his engineering career through his attention to detail) and has since changed hands 3 times prior to the sale to me. I bought it of what I can only describe as a true petrol head, Ian who was replacing his current vehicle with an all singing megabusa built for the track along with numerous motorbikes in his piston-filled haven of a garage. It's a 1660cc Crossflow (711m block) on Weber's, has been fully dry sumped and has had the rear disk conversion. The bodywork is in absolutely fantastic condition for it's age and really does want for nothing with a few miniscule gel coat cracks near the rear wheel arch. I have had the car for approx 1 month and have already covered circa 500 miles of sun drenched driving pleasure. The only change I am going to make in the near future is to change the steering wheel out for a smaller quick release unit, as I do think it is on the large side. The car also came with a full set of minilites which I am thinking of changing over too, but will shod them with new tyres and look to do that over winter. I am based in Bury, Manchester but am often in Leeds if anybody fancies a blat for a beer and some stunning scenery then hit me up. I shall also be attending some of the meetups so look forward to seeing some of you at those. Pics: All the best, Brad

  4. The coupe versions of Fulvia’s are a beautiful Lancia, especially in rally trim. Be a sad day when we can’t talk about gorgeous cars on here; we’re not that sort of a club! Such an unusual engine too, narrow angle V4 of only 1300cc in many of the coupes. (I think they were even smaller capacity originally). Really renown for their handle I g and performance in the day, winning rally’s in the early seventies. Effectively a great grand daddie of the Stratos, 037 and Delta Integrale! And if none of those cars stir your soul, you are truely beyond hope!

  5. I know I'll probably get hung for this, but that is one sweet Lancia! The Westies look top notch too, but that Lancia....

  6. We left early o’clock filled up and off to tomintoul to meet David ,then over the lecht and through strathdon to Alford and cross country to fennels at inverurie here we met Brian who had travelled up from the borders and popped over to have breakfast with us , Steve in his lovely caged, aero megablade was already there, unfortunately we had a couple of call offs as well. there was some quite nice nd varied machinery there too aero 8, Porsche’s , Ferrari, a works Audi Quattro who said i get 400 miles on a set of tyres !!!!!!! And the cutest Alfa junior you have seen. so breakfast was consumed and the world put to rights, Steve decided that he would head for Home as he was still sorting a few issues on his car so David, Trina and myself headed out round strathdon in glorious weather before stopping at corgarf for tea and cake. As we pulled in there’s another westy sitting thre , so we chatted to the couple who had it enthused over the benefits of the club and shared a few ideas and stories, hopefully they will join up . then out and back over the lecht to tomintoul where we said goodbye to David and headed back down the glen home, as we got home we met blue and Maggie who had popped out for some gin in their caterham so again stopped and chatted before heading round the corner home all in all a cracking day with good compan and good roads, to those who couldn’t make it maybe next time

  8. Great to meet everyone for my first Westie run out today - seems I picked a brilliant day for it - eight brilliant cars, a great route, superb lunch stop and a huge tractor..... I turned up at Matlock with something over three quarters of a tank, but by the cake stop, the fuel gauge was sitting at zero going up hills and not much more pointing down. A trundle down into Cromford to the nearest petrol station found it open, but with no fuel so we carried on down the A6 for a few more miles and found a BP station, where I put over 18 litres into my 20 litre tank. A remap is in order anyway to sort the spitting back through the throttle bodies - maybe it will sort the fuel consumption - surely 22mpg is a bit heavy for such a light car, despite having to give it some welly to stay with a certain lady driver..... Lee should have some photos sorted in the next few days - I'll post them as soon as I have them

  14. Great to meet everyone today and thanks @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AOfor a great day out. After following Paul to the A57 the sat Nav decided to take me on a mystery tour that included going up Mortimer Road ... stunning route with lots of tight bends and fun bits. Stopped for a cigar by one of the lakes and then melted on the way back home. Really need to pack sun cream next time!

  15. I remember when those rally Quattros first appeared on the scene, amidst the Escorts and Asconas they looked like space ships from the future, bristling with high tech! They still look great, to me, but how funny to see them with (now) tiny wheels, and odd overhangs, still not much to beat the sound of them crackling through the Forrest’s, in that funny off beat, five cylinder way.

  29. I have now been given the information on where we park for this years show. If you look on the map we are on Blue 4 which is right on the back of the old pits/paddocks. Not so good for watching the racing but good for a nosy round. We have a lot less cars this year and looking at the map everyone apart from the Porsche's have moved around. SC18 Light Blue Zones v15.pdf It should be easy to get to so rather than driving around the Jag drift experience you stay on the main drag and go over the big bridge and turn left at the island. We have different neighbours as well. See you there.
