Hi Folks Thanks to everyone for supporting the day on the hill and the celebration dinner! What a great job Steve Robinson did as guest speaker! I have had some great highs and a few lows during my 9 years in the Speed Series It was a great pleasure and privilege to be able to organise this memorable 21st Anniversary Event! I can only echo Marto's comments that we get some newcomers to the series as a result of this experience! Best wishes Graham5 points

So the annual pilgrimage for the clan to applecross was this weekend and after getting everything organised the clan assembled at applecross campsite from far and wide, with 12 Westies and a bmw .... i know he could have worked through the night but ..... , huts were claimed and tents erected and after the usual banter the barbie was lit , re lit and “encouraged” after a wee while the clan were fed and watered and a great evening of banter, tales and plans ensued with the tailenders heading off to bed around 12. here it has to be noted all out thanks even Bobs were given to Lorna for preparingall the barbie goodies, it was appreciated by all saturday dawned overcast but dry , so up ready and off to the walled garden for breakfast before heading over the pass heading for the wee glenelg ferry, on the way John’s nose “was put out of joint” a bit .... Daryl went to pull out of a junction, alas john had checked it was clear and also pulled out to find not empty road but...... the resultant tap saw the application of some duck tape and he was able to carry on however poor Daryl had to be recovered, after a wee wait until all were situated, and Bruce heading off to a pals, the 10 westies and a bmw headed off and it was on to glenelg for the ferry, two trips of the wee turntable ferry saw us all together and up over skye to the “blue shed” tea room at Erbol After a wee spot of lunch it was back over the bridge and with some needing fuel we would regroup at Loch Carron from here some went back over the pass to the campsite while five more adventurous went the long way round Shealdag, food ordered and cars parked we all made our way down to the inn where some good food and drink were had including a wee cake and candle for Brians birthday and the clan were indeed in good voice as all wished him happy birthday. A sadder occasion followed where Rab gave his last AO speech of thanks which was received with the Usual thanks , not that he will be disappearing Sunday dawned with some lovely weather for the drive home, so huts and tents emptied cars and van packed we gathered for breakfast at the junction cafe before heading home all full of enthusiasm for the next one All in all a great social weekend where names are put to faces, friendships renewed and begun, tales told and plans hatched, a fantastic route for saturdays run....... So from ALL of us a big thanks to Bob for organising , Lorna for the food, Johns son in law {sorry didn’t catch his name) for driving the support van , to Dave and Natalie for coming in the bmw even though the westy was sick and to Daryl who despite his mishap stayed for the weekends craic if you missed it you missed a good’un , bring on the next clan gathering ..........4 points

Hi Adge I was linked into the the hill radio during the day. This was my first experience of an insight to the other side of our sport and how diligent the marshals, medics and course control are! The one's we had at Shelsley yesterday to me were really top draw! I shall be putting our gratitude in writing to them all tomorrow! Thanks for your nice comments Graham4 points

A fantastic day and night at Shelsley, what a brilliant way to celebrate 21 years of the Speed Series A huge Thank You goes to @graham frankland for organising this event. I know personally how much time, effort and stress went into putting this together, so well done Graham great job. I would love to know if any of the non Speed Series members who drove the hill yesterday have been bitten by the bug and now want to have a go competitively????4 points

Home now from the coast.6 of us met at the Fox and Grapes and left for Sewerby, we had a goodrun with not much traffic and arriving at the Ship Inn to meet up with @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AO and @matthew902. Fish and chips followed then we headed home without @The Cheese, who was so in the zone, went out the car park instead of going down the coastal path. I'm sure we'll see him sometime!3 points

Just a quick post to give a thumbs up to the Westfield team. Today I emailed Ian Galloway at the factory with a technical question. He sent 2 emails back in next to no time with the answers I needed1 point

A while back @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AO put a post on Facebook asking for someone to paint a clear body for a radio controlled car, I saw it when I'd come in from the pub and replied saying I'd have a go. I've never painted one before but thought it can't be too difficult. I got the body from him in April, and got straight on with it yesterday. Clear bodies are painted from the inside with the detail done first, so after watching a couple of YouTube videos and asking in a local radio controlled shop I gave it a go.1 point

Sorry I missed out on this, but we're away on a family holiday, so couldn't be avoided. Glad you all had a great time, and I'll see some of you on the V8 cafe run next Sunday if I can get my new exhaust fitted in time.1 point

Just on the off chance , a month ago there was a thread 'rear upright wanted' - someone found a pair of uprights for him, so there must be one upright sitting around, 50:50 it is the side you need.1 point

What a fantastic and well organised day and many thanks to those that made it possible. A fantastic venue at a very reasonable cost IMHO. personally, got 6 runs in and thoroughly enjoyed myself, along with my son, but the edge was taken off it slightly with an alternator issue. My thanks go to the various peeps offering help, especially to Tim Pennington and Ian. ended up breaking down on the m5, fortunately pulling into a service station at just the right time, and then being recovered back home around midnight, so thank god for breakdown cover lol....as I was 140 miles short of home at the time.... Absolutely loved it though and will do it again in a heartbeat if the opportunity arises. What a great club this is! Mart.1 point

You have to look at everything in the fine print to see the value. Some cover parts as well which can be a saving others only certain parts. For myself, we have it serviced every other year and have never had to replace a boiler in any house we have lived in, most were 20 plus years old when we moved. The upside of having cover is you get quicker turnout usually as they have more than one engineer to come out when they are busy.1 point

What a fantastic day. I was looking forward to it for months and it was even better than my high expectations. Thanks to everyone involved including MAC. Efficiently run the whole day through.1 point

I think these policies are a rip off, sold by scaremongering. Firstly you shouldn't have to insure it, it is a quality product that you have paid good money for, and a reasonable expectation is that it lasts 6 to 10 years, maybe more. You should be able to rely on the protection of the Consumer Rights Act. If in the first 5 or 6 years you were faced with replacing it or a significant repair bill I would expect Worcester Bosch to help you out. So I would ensure it is serviced and leave those premiums in a 'contingency' account , if the boiler does last 10 years you are £2000 or so better off, worst case you have to replace it in years 6 to 10 , by which time you have the price of a boiler in the bank. You might be surprised how often reputable companies react positively when a product doesn't meet expectations, bearing in mind that you will be in the market for a replacement at some point. I had a Sony laptop approaching 4 years old that stopped working, I wrote a very polite letter explaining that it had fallen short of my expectations for the brand. They didn't have access to the parts to fix it and very promptly offered me 25% of what it had cost me to put towards a replacement. This is consistent with the Consumer Rights Act, they give you a refund but deduct a sum for the fair use you have had.1 point
