Speaking to Bob at the support van. Says that he'll meet us at Onich Hotel .. .. hopefully! So, it's Kilmahog for 10:00 sharp and it was suggested that we don't stop at the Green Welly and make straight for Onich. Bob has asked me to collect a fiver per car whilst we're there to fuel the van at Fort William.1 point

Donington's 98db drive by is really weird. I've known a few people having trouble with it.. but it's really hard to say who will trigger it and who wont. Last one I did, there were a couple of race BMWs absolutely screaming.. they sounded fantastic, and loud! but apparently under the noise limit. A bike engine Legend had no trouble also..???1 point
-
No noise issues at all - I have the Westfield exhaust - 2" I think, revving up to 7k No one had an issue, but they did labour the point in the briefing that anyone breaking the limit would need to make 'mechanical changes' to be allowed back on which they basically said, you won't be let back on! Think it was an 89Db limit FYI I will be looking at more dates to try some other places and would be good to be on a track with some similar cars and not feeling like a micro machine :-)1 point

Car can be viewed this weekend at Shelsley Walsh Event Well after much deliberation, the time has come to admit I have lost my mojo and as a result, the car can finally go up for sale. And I mean it this time! I did the trackday at Blyton last year and enjoyed myself, but the effort to get there is much greater than the pleasure I get from driving. Westfield sei wide circa 2004 with the following spec Carbon panels with the exception of the floor. Super light weight bodywork, with detachable rear arches all fitted such that it can be stripped off the car in less than 10 minutes. Safety Devices full cage. Grp drivers seat with bulkhead restraint, carbon low back passengers seat. Momo steering wheel. Aim Mycron gold LCD dash and data logger. Geartronics gear indicator. Bespoke dash panel. X16xe Vauxhall engine giving 214 bhp on nms rollers, Forged pistons, steel rods, head ported by Guy Croft, SBD cams, valve springs, followers verniers, Pace dry sump kit with bespoke high capacity tank SBD 4 throttle injection kit, with ITG filter. All fuel lines in aeroquip and aluminium tube. Sprint fuel tank and auxiliary track day tank. High capacity pump and filter Small alternator run from same belt as dry sump system, Ducted radiator (carbon), Helix 7.25 organic clutch with hydraulic operation Elite 5 speed sequential gearbox, 3.92 LSD diff recently rebuilt. Force racing wheels and kumho tyres Bespoke light weight wiring harness with mini fuses and relays. DTA P8 Pro ECU with traction and launch control, all wheels have speed sensors. Wunoff exhaust silencer on modified TLE manifold. Wilwood front brakes, antiroll bars at both ends. Protec double adjustable dampers all round. Quick rack. Car is Road legal, and will be sold with 12 months Mot. It's a reluctant sale, as I know once it's gone I will want another one just like it! As a guide, this car cost more than £20K to build……. Looking for £13,500. Contact Paul 07973 5047851 point

I must pride myself today on finding NO COW POO, let's hope it lasts hey! We met at Matlock where the blinking toilets were shut, so it was a quick scoot to the shopping outlet. In future we will meet at Sainsbury's where there is petrol and a pee. Andy and Sue, Martyn and Sue with Paul and Pat in the VX. At Matlock Paul let me have a little drive around the car park in his VX, for which I feel very honoured, it is harder than a Westfield to get in and out of and you see nothing out of the rear view mirror, it felt a positive drive, it was lovely . It certainly looks the biz too. We sliced a route through the centre of the Peak District, meeting the Spire Classic Car Run coming in the opposite direction, so lots of waving there then. Up the very fine Winnats Pass, just look at that empty tarmac begging for my 4 new tyres, of which I am exceptionally pleased with, exceptionally. Then it was a slow run down Mam Nick to take in the scenery Arriving at the Rambler Inn at 11.55am, just before it opened, meaning an empty car park and pub, simples. A table for 8 soon became a table for 10 when Chris and Mo arrived. The feasting began The view of the Great Mam Tor Ridge from the car park. Bonnets Off - the view of the great 2 litre Zetec in Andy's car, complete with a gold rocker cover. We could have another caption competition with this photo! Paul went next with his turbo 2 l which he has just changed the cam belt and water pump on, it's service day tomorrow, he keeps a nice car there. Andy and Sue ready for the off We set off for more of those views over Mam Nick, those hills, those twisty roads, all lacking cow poo. We were now a 5 car convoy, with Chris and Mo. We arrived at the cake stop and parked in our designated area To the grand finale, the cake, but someone couldn't wait, so we had an empty plate on the table didn't we Paul? All the ingredients for a great day out - driving, bonnets off, eating, scenery and great company, thank you to everyone for making it happen. It's Shelsley Walsh next weekend so we hope to see you all back in the Peak District the weekend after.1 point

I’m looking at my phone and @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club SecretaryHas a film to watch on his eyelids. You’d be better placed asking @westyjord87 where his Ibiza special shades have gone1 point

And video number 1... Wow. Very moving. Its funny, I remember some of the conversations in the early days when you were trying to get certain pics, but just hadn’t quite found the technique. You always did have a great eye for the shots though, landscape especially. Boy does it now show in your videos, it’s not just the individual shots though, you’ve really developed a flair for putting them together into fantastically evocative pieces. I just wish we could put moving pictures in the Club Mag, so that more people could see!1 point

So I did the event and am pleased to say it was amazing!!! The car held out brilliantly without any issues - although it's confirmed I do need to fit a swirl pot (any recommendations on the swirl pot and low pressure pump to go for on a 2.0 Zetec black top??), and was an absolute blast to drive. I got consistently quicker over the course of the evening, and barring one tank slapper on the chicane into the start finish straight, I kept it on the track and hit some great lines. Some of the equipment out there was crazy, including a bright orange Porsche 911 GT3 RS which was blisteringly quick, and lots of modified hot hatches that we just too quick (in the straights anyway!) to keep tabs on, but you'll be pleased to hear that the solitary Caterham out there I was able to run down and overtake :-) As I say, quicker machines out there (mine's pulling around 170 bhp in a more road focussed car) but I didn't see many of them having as much fun. And yes there were the mandatory kn*b heads on track with disregard for the safety briefing, overtaking where ever they wanted (including lunges down the inside as you turn in on the natural racing line) - but it was good to see a few of them beached in the sand, steam pouring from the engine bay! I've certainly got the bug for more now - looking at other amendments I can make to the car - wide track front with ARB, swirl pot, damper settings and air pressures to fettle - then more power.....!!!!!!!0 points
