  3. Dave Terry will be along and correct me if I'm wrong but when Loton ( I think) was resurfaced a couple of years ago it was discussed and decided not to treat it as a new venue purely based on the resurfacing work alone, so a president was set to some extent. The venue and track layout hadn't changed so therefore it is not a "new event" as such. Its a question of how far do you go. If for example half the track had been done or just one section on a fast bend and the rest not, at what point do we say it has to be treated as a new venue. Clearly new records have been set on this occasion so probably the new surface had an influence but equally if it had rained and or/no records broken it's unlikely this would have been raised, as the new surface could have had a negative effect just as easily. I wasn't there but I'm told the paddock is still rubbish a full of loose stones and debris if that's any consolation. Mark

  4. A small group of us will be doing the Opentrack day at Anglesey, Monday 16th July. Open pitlane, 105db, plus free photography, tea and buns allegedly.. although I don't think I've managed a free bun yet before they disappear! It's a day that was owed to me from a deal we did last year, but there is a 10% discount group set up. PM me if you're interested in joining us. We'll be camping over on Sunday night, so hoping the weather will be kind to us. https://www.opentrack.co.uk/product/anglesey-coastal-gp-circuit-monday-16th-july-2018/

  9. Hello. I'm in Lincolnshire just north of Woodhall. Matt Vernon is based in Bourne. We try and join in the trips organised by Julie which are normally Peak District based but great. Some are our side starting in Matlock. Sometimes we go to 'Horsepower at the Hall' which is now renamed 'Gearheads at the Ground' which is at Newark Showground a couple of times a year. Other events our side of the country is the GBS Coffee mornings which Julie will also put up on the out and about section. Where are you??

  12. Car can be viewed this weekend at Shelsley Walsh Event Well after much deliberation, the time has come to admit I have lost my mojo and as a result, the car can finally go up for sale. And I mean it this time! I did the trackday at Blyton last year and enjoyed myself, but the effort to get there is much greater than the pleasure I get from driving. Westfield sei wide circa 2004 with the following spec Carbon panels with the exception of the floor. Super light weight bodywork, with detachable rear arches all fitted such that it can be stripped off the car in less than 10 minutes. Safety Devices full cage. Grp drivers seat with bulkhead restraint, carbon low back passengers seat. Momo steering wheel. Aim Mycron gold LCD dash and data logger. Geartronics gear indicator. Bespoke dash panel. X16xe Vauxhall engine giving 214 bhp on nms rollers, Forged pistons, steel rods, head ported by Guy Croft, SBD cams, valve springs, followers verniers, Pace dry sump kit with bespoke high capacity tank SBD 4 throttle injection kit, with ITG filter. All fuel lines in aeroquip and aluminium tube. Sprint fuel tank and auxiliary track day tank. High capacity pump and filter Small alternator run from same belt as dry sump system, Ducted radiator (carbon), Helix 7.25 organic clutch with hydraulic operation Elite 5 speed sequential gearbox, 3.92 LSD diff recently rebuilt. Force racing wheels and kumho tyres Bespoke light weight wiring harness with mini fuses and relays. DTA P8 Pro ECU with traction and launch control, all wheels have speed sensors. Wunoff exhaust silencer on modified TLE manifold. Wilwood front brakes, antiroll bars at both ends. Protec double adjustable dampers all round. Quick rack. Car is Road legal, and will be sold with 12 months Mot. It's a reluctant sale, as I know once it's gone I will want another one just like it! As a guide, this car cost more than £20K to build……. Looking for £13,500. Contact Paul 07973 504785

  16. I must pride myself today on finding NO COW POO, let's hope it lasts hey! We met at Matlock where the blinking toilets were shut, so it was a quick scoot to the shopping outlet. In future we will meet at Sainsbury's where there is petrol and a pee. Andy and Sue, Martyn and Sue with Paul and Pat in the VX. At Matlock Paul let me have a little drive around the car park in his VX, for which I feel very honoured, it is harder than a Westfield to get in and out of and you see nothing out of the rear view mirror, it felt a positive drive, it was lovely . It certainly looks the biz too. We sliced a route through the centre of the Peak District, meeting the Spire Classic Car Run coming in the opposite direction, so lots of waving there then. Up the very fine Winnats Pass, just look at that empty tarmac begging for my 4 new tyres, of which I am exceptionally pleased with, exceptionally. Then it was a slow run down Mam Nick to take in the scenery Arriving at the Rambler Inn at 11.55am, just before it opened, meaning an empty car park and pub, simples. A table for 8 soon became a table for 10 when Chris and Mo arrived. The feasting began The view of the Great Mam Tor Ridge from the car park. Bonnets Off - the view of the great 2 litre Zetec in Andy's car, complete with a gold rocker cover. We could have another caption competition with this photo! Paul went next with his turbo 2 l which he has just changed the cam belt and water pump on, it's service day tomorrow, he keeps a nice car there. Andy and Sue ready for the off We set off for more of those views over Mam Nick, those hills, those twisty roads, all lacking cow poo. We were now a 5 car convoy, with Chris and Mo. We arrived at the cake stop and parked in our designated area To the grand finale, the cake, but someone couldn't wait, so we had an empty plate on the table didn't we Paul? All the ingredients for a great day out - driving, bonnets off, eating, scenery and great company, thank you to everyone for making it happen. It's Shelsley Walsh next weekend so we hope to see you all back in the Peak District the weekend after.
