The first passenger in my car after the build was my mate Mick. At the time Mick had recently been diagnosed with MND (or ALS as the Mercans call it) - but I call it 'worst nightmare syndrome'. Anyway - I took Mick out for a run and at the end he looked up at me and said - "thanks Chris, it's been a while since I've had something to smile about - and that really did make me smile" I was well chuffed that he'd enjoyed the blat and he said "so, what do you call her?" I replied "I've not got a name - any suggestions?" - to which he pondered a bit and replied "Scarlet". So, Scarlet it is - in memory of my great mate Mick who sadly passed away just before Xmas last year.11 points

Plain and simply “Tommy” after my dad who encouraged me in all sorts of car naughtiness and never got his own “7” due to me arriving4 points

Many people know mine is called The Wench, but fewer know why. It’s because she’s colourful, flashy, noisy, demanding, hates being ignored, likes it rough, smokes a bit, drinks like a fish, strictly for amusement, prefers to have her top off, and if you’re inside her for more than an hour your bum goes numb.3 points

As much as I’d love to have joined you, I’ll be in a field in France watching other people driving funny little, and not so little, cars! Wonder if Bagpuss has a pet passport?2 points

Yeah good night out and run. Terry and I managed to sort out a few of Paul's niggles on his re-bodied car with the help of our special squeaky spanners (Paul reported it's a lot better now ) Graham enjoyed the opportunity of solid food, the first in a week! Nice to see Bernie out.....it's been a while, still as good looking as ever (his words). Also a chance for Paul, Jim and myself to go over a few plans for Shelsey Walsh, looking forward to it. Bonus for the night?.............to hear the chap we'd been chatting to with the Aprilia V4 ,"gun it" away from the car park2 points

Meet at Artist Corner Car Park, Matlock, DE4 3PS at 10.30am for a drive north through some of the Peak District's finest scenery to arrive at The Rambler Inn, Edale just in time for lunch, with views over the Mam Tor ridge. For anyone wanting more, we will wiggle a route back down and finish with tea and cake. It is Father's Day so I am not expecting anyone to be able to join us, but just in case you can I am posting it up, ever the optimist.1 point

I was given the following advice which worked for me. I was advised to contact the company in writing with my issues and I had to give them an opportunity to fix the problems, I did this and they failed to complete the works to the specification discussed in the first place. I wrote to them a second time acknowledging there attempts to correct the work but it was still far short of complete. I then contacted two other reputable garages who effectively put a value on the work done, each invoiced me £25 for the written quotes, I had to agree that though substandard a portion of the job was complete or progress had been made towards completion. I then wrote a letter to the first supplier explaining that I had given them every chance to fix the issues, I also included the two garages valuations of there work. I took an average of the two valuations and sent cheque for that amount to the first supplier detailing my calculations in the letter. I also stated that if they banked the cheque I would take that as there acceptance of final settlement. There where many threats made towards me but I don't think they could argue with the independent valuations which to be fair I couldn't either, fortunately for me they banked the cheque some weeks later and I was able to move on. Wishing you luck.1 point

Far from offended, made me chuckle more than anything. Maybe if you hadn't posted in such an obnoxious manner initially, you wouldn't have had to explain it second time around :-) Thanks to castlecroft for the photo's.1 point

APPLECROSSKI 2018 please find the time table for Applecosski 2018, this year we are having a Russian night in the campsite due to the fact there are no tv sets on the site so we don't have to watch Engerland play in the world cup, so there is no reason for not destroying the odd bottle of vodka please note as we are going to the highlands you can arm yourself to the teeth so get the swords, crossbows and chibs polished up the clan are coming . Thursday night the horse and cart will be at the BP petrol station at the forth bridge at 8 oclock if you want to drop stuff off , I will put in tools ,jacks and tow ropes and a couple of wheels and a few cables just in case . then were heading to Mr and Mrs wee dov to pick up the Barbie , thanks again for this . Friday 22nd 10 oclock ,meeting in kilmahog at the woollen mill car park past Hamish the bull, we need to be away from there no later than 10.30 . Lorna and I will not be there we will not be leaving Livingston till eleven as we need to get the puppies in the kennel . We are booked in at twelve thirty in the Onich hotel for lunch so we hope to catch you there if not we will catch you eventualy. After that its up to Applecross via fort William for fuel . We need to be at the Applecross pass for about 5.30 due to the Pass closing for road works . Applecross stickers will be in the van . 7.30 Friday night the infamous Clan McWesty Bar Beeeeee Que when yarns of great battles and blats will be told . 8.30 Friday night bed time ?????? Saturday morning 9.00 at the walled garden for breakfast as we have a long run ahead on Skye via the Kyleakin ferry weather permitting I have route maps so we will all get lost . Applecross in is booked for 6.30 at night so when we return from our run go down the pub and order your dinner , again we need to be over the pass for 5.30 to avoid the long way round , After dinner we will go along to the junction for a few beers and the usual clan patter . Sunday Morning 9/9.30 down to the junction for Breakfast heading off home 10/10.30. a few rules lads remember its not a race you win nothing for getting there first we have a bad enough name there thanks to Matty for smashing trees and knocking of guys on bikes . also remember the road up is full of law enforcement agents with cameras and unmarked cars . please also remember there are other people on the campsite and they have no right to go to bed at eight o'clock so we don't want to upset the failed NCP parking attendant / camp security man .Not??? its there fault for picking that weekend to go camping and not owning a westfield . Safe trip guys and girls Bobski1 point

One of my favourite places and also the location of my favourite whiskey is the western Isles of Scotland and more specifically one very small island famed for its Peaty whiskey. Therefore being a Westy, “Islay” seemed to fit the bill!1 point

Thanks for the warm welcome chaps , I enjoyed the run out and meeting both new & some old familiar faces . The chippy stop was worth the run on its own , loved the spanner trick ! managed to get as far as the A580 East Lancs Rd turn off before the rain came along , not too heavy at first so only got a bit damp Brought back happy memories when anything up to 20 Westies turned up regularly to run amok around the Pennine roads . Happy days1 point

For those that haven't been to this event before, have a look at http://www.bonessrevival.co.uk/ It's actually run over both days at the weekend and is a great combination of the pre-'72 (mostly) competitive hillclimb and car show. Usually very busy on the Sunday and we've had a stand at the show for a few years now. The paddock for the hillclimb competitors has some brilliant classic racing machinery and is as good, if not better, than the classic show itself. As the clan generally prefers to drive the cars, rather than sit and look at them, this is the only show event on our calendar - well worth a visit! Bob - I'm sure you'll still be there nice and early Matt1 point

Thank you all. Good advice. I've spent some time looking at the CAB site and in summary under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 I can claim the cost of the work is not reasonable. They may try and answer this with a detailed job sheet. We would need to try and negotiate. I can ask them to resolve the issues at their cost. If that fails I will ask them if they are a member of any trade association such as The Motor Ombudsman or Retail Motor Industry Federation. If no, I must ask them if they are a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme. I'm going to clear my head, take some time, think calmly, consider their point of view and try having a chat with them.1 point

I seem to remember seeing one which had a piece of aluminium rivetted to the chassis at the from point of the diffuser. The front then slotted into the gap the backs were pins secured into the spare wheel carrier mounts, these passed through a hole on each side and secured with a quick pin.1 point
