I´m very very fussy about my race wear... as I can´t afford to buy race wear too often. I do clean it with normal powder three times each season no more, no less. (unless like this season, that unfortunately have not been used at all nearly half way of the year for first time in 10 years), and I never use softener. Every time I get home after a meeting i put it in a hanger inside out for several days till doesn´t stinks. Normally never comes back from a meeting inside its bag. Never wear it without a full layer under (fireproof/cotton full underwear), so the actual race suit doesnt gets too damp. I do the same with the gloves. Underwear and balaclava, goes to the washing machine after every use... and never touches the dryer. Be sure to don´t spin it at high speed and use cold water. It seems to work pretty well with my stuff and most of it looks fairly new.2 points

Genuine Nomex can be washed OK and a good number of times. There should be instructions on the suit as to how. So follow the label instructions. I used to be fussy, but as the years have gone by I've dropped down to just chuck it in the washing machine by itself with normal powder. Seems to work for me.2 points

@4ndy one piece of advice. Dont rush in and buy the first car you see. Come along to a local meet and we’ll show you what constitutes a good build and what to look for.2 points

Eastern circuit very challenging! Very enjoyable Saturday, thanks to all.2 points

That is so true Gary! It does sum up, perfectly, the reasons we moved up here 15 years ago. There is nowhere else on this planet (or any other) we would rather live, than the Highlands of Scotland.2 points

I've heard of 625cc Siemans Daka injectors being ideal for a 2.0 Zetec turbo. That was on a Bailey performance motor and I know they do these on the regular, so might be a good starting point?1 point

Once you remove the torx screw it just slides out, then you can see the number clearly.1 point

You can't run lower boost than the actuator will give you unfortunately, which limits you somewhat. I'm not sure if you can find an actuator that will give you sufficiently low enough levels of boost to make standard injectors work. I'd imagine the standard injectors will be 200cc/min or so, and you're looking for at least 350, preferably more than 400. Might be worth a google to see what other Zetec Turbo guys use?1 point

Cheers for the comments Gary. Most definitely not been in a rush, been thinking about it since the motor bike was sold over a year ago.1 point

Wash them too many times and you end up with the fashion award in many years time Wash seldomnly and when they really need it in my opinion. They are not like pairs of old pants you know Oh - and pick your colour wisely. White is not a good choice unless you have a pit crew1 point

My 1800 zetec crank sensor is on the passenger side of the engine low down towards the rear of the block where the block meets the gearbox bell housing. It's a small black plastic plug that comes out at an angle. Mine's a 2001 engine.1 point

Hi all - suggestion for the run and how the day goes: Killin Run – Sunday 27thMay 2018 Summary: Approx. 130 mile circular run round Perthshire (~4 hrs driving, plus lunch stop). Not including 'transit time' to/from meeting point though, so obviously more than 4 hours overall. Public roads and no single-track. Scenic and generally good road surfaces.Maybe lunch in Aberfeldy (plenty of cafes), then back down Sma' Glen and head back through Crieff, Gleneagles etc. Meet: M9 Stirling Services for departure at 10:00 sharp. Route: From Stirling Services: M9 north to Dunblane Though Dunblane, back over A9 and take B8033 Braco Through Braco about 1/2 a mile, then left onto B827 Comrie Left at T junction on Comrie Main street onto A85 to Lochearnhead STOP at St Fillans to regroup – long lay-bys at lochside Right at T junction in Lochearnhead, still on A85 Right onto A827 at LixToll, through Killin and on to Aberfeldy STOP at Aberfeldy for lunch – go through crossroads (traffic lights), then park in carpark on right behind Co-op & petrol station. Back to crossroads and turn left at lights onto A826 Amulree, then A822 towards Crieff STOP on roadside after left turn over river south of Amulree to regroup (3 lay-bys after bridge next to river). Right onto A85 through Crieff, then south on A822 through Muthill Left onto A823 Gleneagles/ Glendevon/ Muckhart/ Rumbling Bridge Right at T junction onto A977 through Powmill and on to Kincardine OR left onto A823 via Knockhill Home (own route). Fuel: Stirling Services, Comrie, Killin (LixToll), Aberfeldy, Crieff Always a good idea to familiarise yourself with where we're going if it isn't an area you know. Matt1 point

Please could you put me down for a place. As a first timer, roughly how does the day play out? Chris1 point

Coincidentally I asked @John the same question on Sunday. But it wasn't because I am an overweight sweaty man - I had a dirty mark on a white bit through laying under the car...1 point

Have a look at your engine block code and then see if you can xref the info here... http://www.toyne.org.uk/zetec-engine.html Hope that helps.1 point

A good starter for ten, is to post a request in Tech Talk, alongside some clear photos showing the front of the engine, the top cam cover arrangement and the sides of the engine. That way, someone will potentially recognise it from what they have, and tell you what it was from.1 point

Likewise great weekend looking forward to the next outing. One of the only times I pressed play all weekend on the camera and I face the opposite way at the finish line. Always seams so slow watching it back.1 point

The word of the day was **** as in Flowery (for those that watched Fawlty towers) and spoken with some gusto by a lovely lady whom I didn't expect to hear it from but the comedic effect was awesome Long live free speech and the lack of PC in the UK and apologies to any families that were sat within earshot of us.1 point

I could have joined you today Gary, if I had known. It was a wee bit windy though! My son, James, has just started work at Orton, near Fochabers, so he's driving those roads every day now, just like me. Great, isn't it? See you on Geoffrey's trip next week.1 point

Most definitely joining Gary. Reading the reviews on the 1.8 zetec they do read positive with the words bomb proof being regularly used.1 point
