  12. Hi all The next North London trip will be a visit to the De-Havilland museum in London Colney on June 3rd. For those of you who don't know this place, it is where they built the Mosquito wooden gliders, which were used in WWII and the raid on Pegasus Bridge in France. Loads of things to see, and there may be the option of a guided tour - which we will have confirmed on the day. Cost is £12 for entry. https://www.dehavillandmuseum.co.uk/ The museum have kindly agreed to let us park up under the wings of several aircraft, so we should be able to get some great pics for the 2019 WSCC Calendar etc. Suggest we meet at Nottcutts Garden centre in St Albans for a spot of breakfast at 9.30am and then drive down to the museum from there. Address below for info: Museum: Salisbury Hall, Shenley, London Colney AL2 1BU - opens at 10.30 Breakfast: Hatfield Road, Smallford, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL4 0HN Please let me know if you can join us, as it would be great to get a nice number of cars & drivers. Thanks Ian

  13. This year we chose The Air Ambulance - Charity Reg. NO: 1098874 and Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund - Charity Reg. NO: 1155322 as the nominated charities for the Stoneleigh show. So we collected donations at Stoneleigh by selling tea, coffee, biscuits and crisps. We were also again very generously given 8 charity drift rides by @Westfield Parts Dept @Julian Turner - Westfield Sportscars Ltd @Simon Westwood - Westfield Sportscars Ltd which were raffled off over the weekend Also this year we had members donate parts for sale on the autojumble the proceeds of which going to the funds raised, so a big thank you goes to all members who contributed here We have managed to raise a total of £570.32p which will be split equally between the two nominated charities The Air Ambulance - Charity Reg. NO: 1098874 and Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund Charity Reg. NO: 1155322. A very big Thank You to all who donated and helped to raise this amount so all the fun of the weekend at Stoneleigh 2018 has also helped two very worthy causes.

  15. I do like getting sweaty in my garage , but not on a level that some may think . We do have turbo cycle trainers and a running machine in there too for the women to skinny their hips ( not working !!) . On another note, I do keep the humidifier going in the winter to keep the level at 50% , so this will prevent condensation on anything that can rust. I used to have a garage heater on propane, but that was dire with moisture and fumes and had to run with the door open, which was pointless. Electric heaters are good and its not going to be set at a million deg , but as long as I can get above 12 deg in the winter, I can do that . 7 deg was getting a bit numb with my arthritic fingers and knees.

  16. I've only half read this thread, but from my experience of sitting in the starline stands at LeMans for the last 20years they can be a pretty noisy and uncomfortable place. We're normally based in one of the stands on the finish line oppsite the clock and The roofs of these are made of a corrigated tin and do a fine job of amplifying the noise of any engine as it goes doen the straight at speed to quite uncomfortable levels. The french tannoy and commentators can also get quite noisy, irritating and excitable so some form of ear defenders are a great aid in ensuring you only hear radio lemans on your radio

  25. Been saying this for years... get a set of custom molded earplugs. Most vendors will make them with cutouts to hold "normal" in ear headsets that come with most music players/phones. https://www.noisebreaker.com/noisebreaker/recreation/mp3-phone/ I've had mine for getting on for two decades. I need a new pair now but I use them every day on the motorbike as well as when driving the Westfield and they are one of the best purchases I have ever made. Get them flesh coloured and avoid the Gendarmes, which is more than I did https://www.noisebreaker.com/ There are loads more...

  33. I feel sorry for my neibours in the last house... I cut up a car in the road.. sprayed a car on the drive, spent every weekend hammering. And the car I owned every time I started it it set their car alarm off. Your neibour should be grateful.

  34. I agree with others that ignoring them is the best option, however. Any neighbour issues can quickly escalate and trust me the council can get involved as noise is one of their remits and increasingly with social media there are plenty who will invoke what they see as their right to peace and quiet and drag others in. Councils ask residents to keep logs etc and it is not unknown for them to lie. We had a case , a business, where the residents were claiming all sorts so we installed recording devices and it was no surprise their claims didn't match to our expensive recordings. In this case it was one man who was telling others what time it happened and they all copied his book. What any normal person accepts matters not, it is what a council official deems unreasonable in their interpretation of the law and some of those hate any noisy vehicle. Also bear in mind if anything did escalate when you sell a home it has to be mentioned. Sounds to me you have a nut job but for your own defence, just keep a log of when you use it and times, just incase.
