  1. This year we chose The Air Ambulance - Charity Reg. NO: 1098874 and Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund - Charity Reg. NO: 1155322 as the nominated charities for the Stoneleigh show. So we collected donations at Stoneleigh by selling tea, coffee, biscuits and crisps. We were also again very generously given 8 charity drift rides by @Westfield Parts Dept @Julian Turner - Westfield Sportscars Ltd @Simon Westwood - Westfield Sportscars Ltd which were raffled off over the weekend Also this year we had members donate parts for sale on the autojumble the proceeds of which going to the funds raised, so a big thank you goes to all members who contributed here We have managed to raise a total of £570.32p which will be split equally between the two nominated charities The Air Ambulance - Charity Reg. NO: 1098874 and Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund Charity Reg. NO: 1155322. A very big Thank You to all who donated and helped to raise this amount so all the fun of the weekend at Stoneleigh 2018 has also helped two very worthy causes.

  2. Are you sure it wasn’t “Hey look at that old grandad, in that car!” ?

  3. Episode 17 is out, (if your a Patreon), tomorrow for regular YouTube viewers. It’s another cracker! We've already seen the start of the HVAC system previously, it’s no spoiler to say how it turns out is a stunning piece of work! Edited to add: It should go live at 8pm BST tonight, so get the mug of tea and your favourite biscuits ready!

  4. Chris King, it's not a problem. My time on the original post was nothing compared to the amount of time you spend keeping this forum running. Please keep up the good work. As Dave said, it is appreciated. I will repost my first entry into the build diaries sometime over the weekend, just without the spelling mistakes that crept in last time....

  5. Gary - unfortunately no. Basically, I had to revert the forum to a backup that I made prior to performing some updates when those updates caused a problem. So we lost a few posts that were made late last night. I will now also have to do the update all over again and probably lose another few hours of my own (supposed to spend with family or having fun) time - so believe me, I feel your pain! The next update will happen at a time that I can fit in - and I will put up a holding page until complete so that no posts can be made and thus lost. Last night's update was 'supposed' to go smoothly - but you live and learn

  6. from sunny Somerset. Best of luck with your search. You could always buy it now, and enjoy an extra summer of ownership! Could always treat yourself to some upgrades for your big birthday! None of us know what's round the corner!! Just my take on life!

  9. No worries Dave, I thought it might have been that, the topic re. National A licenses has also gone. So if it was personal it was against Matthew two, problem shared problem halved etc

  10. Know the feeling! once sat at some traffic lights in the previous black and yellow car, aeroscreened, carbon fibre bits everywhere, Race Technology DASH2 digital dash, all high tech stuff; heard some kid call out to his mates “hey, look at that old grandad car!” Was in a foul mood, all the way home!

  12. This was lost in the system reboot , so this is version 2. Anything I wrote in that and havent in this is mainly because I am brain dead, but I have remembered most of it. After discussions with Martin 123 about heading from Newbury to Hayling Island for Breakfast On The Beach . Plan is to leave Newbury and head to Basingstoke, Alton and New Forest way to end up at the Surf Shack for a big ( not in Gary T's size) breakfast. Start at Tescos in Newbury for tank filling at 8am and hope to avoid the bank holiday drivers. Hope to be there for 10am, breakfast, walk on the beach and indigestion, in that order and then head home. Info for place is here https://www.facebook.com/pages/Surf-Shack-Café-Hayling-Island/298415083833503 Can pick up people en route . Weather depending of course . Anyone want to tag along ?

  16. I would presume so. You can usually add second drivers and passengers on the day.

  17. @Andrew Bernie has offered to share his car (the mad, but generous fool), presumably I can sign up and pay as a second driver on the day?

  22. Because nonsense like whiney letters through the door and not knowing where it came from, only serves to create tension, wondering who it is, whether they're going to create trouble for you, is it a deeper problem? what might they do? might they damage your property? is it safe to leave the Westfield outside? Do they frequent other internet motoring forums? might they have a pile of frozen sausages and a large mallet? It's important to use what information you have, to work out who it might be in order to put your own mind at ease and to avoid creating awful neighbourly tensions by suspecting the wrong people. When one of our cats was poisoned (first with rat poison and then with anti-freeze), both my GF and myself both said we could no longer live in an area where one neighbour was capable of doing that, and not knowing who it might be was easily the worst thing about the whole thing (that and a £3000 vets bill).

  24. Yes - at midnight the server reinstated a backup I had set in motion some hours earlier. This caused it to 'lose' it's access to the database. I am a bit annoyed with myself for letting that happen - but as I say lessons have been learned Not meaning to whinge about my time by the way - just now I need to do it all again and this time the wife might not be out with friends

  27. I hope I'm not too late for this. Had my car noise checked yesterday and its 100db so fine for this event. Please add me to the list if there's still availability. It will be my first track day (if there's space) in the Westy so very exciting.

  29. Hi, All, The numbers quoted above are somewhat meaningless without specifying a distance from the source. The IVA test (98dB(A)) is carried out at 0.5m from the exhaust outlet, at 45 degrees to the direction of the outlet and at 3/4 engine maximum rpm (similar to how cars are tested at motorsport events). The numbers above will, I am sure, relate to a prescribed "drive by" test. Typically, a background sound level of 50-55dB(A) would be found if you read a noise meter outside in a quiet garden (with only slight intrusion from almost ever present traffic, wind, aircraft noise). Talking near to a meter will send it up around 65-70 dB(A) and whistling (pursed lips, not fingers in the mouth) will register 80dB(A). Regular exposure to 80dB(A) and above should send you scurrying for ear defenders - petrol lawnmowers typically have stickers advising of levels around 95dB(A). Your neighbour may be (possibly self) sensitised to your car and, in a quiet area and time, if he is woken by it (or the dawn chorus, the milkman or his wife snoring) he will be awake and aware of the car pulling away for a distance. When I was getting ready to go to Stoneleigh the other weekend, I could hear Subarus heading for JapFest, droning their way along the A420 1.75 miles from the house. It was a still, warm day. I would not have heard this on a wet morning, or if weekday traffic was making its way past my house, or if a westerly wind was blowing. You could have a look at the MSA website (www.msauk.org) and look for a local Environmental Scrutineer who would, I am sure, carry out a test for you locally. However, I am sure that, if you try to keep the noise (and unnecessary revving) down as far as possible, so you are able to hand-on-heart say that you are not being unreasonable, you can carry on with your life and your neighbour will have to get over the fact that someone with a sports car lives nearby. Heaven knows, I am often out early and not all my cars are what are traditionally regarded as quiet but I do try to sneak about first thing! Simon

  31. I moved into a house that the previous people were like church mice. When I told them I should be able to get the car in the teeny garage , they raised an eyebrow. The neighbours of the other half of the semi , were miserable old coffin dodgers, who really had nothing better to do with their short remainder of life than moan. So, we moved in and a week later collected the Westfield from mums. Lots of curtain twitching and mumbling from them. Well sadly, the missus sodded off and I needed a lodger to help the mortgage................... it was tight, but we managed to get his collection of superbikes in the garage too We just used to wave at them when we left the house in bikes or cars. Nothing they could have done to be honest. All legal and on the road.
