  2. They are stunning pictures, I am not sure just how you make my car look sooohhh beautiful but you do. if this is to be the 'photo thread' can I add a couple of point and click snaps please? Andrew and Anna, who worked very hard on the snack stall I am glad you enjoyed the 'bonnets off', I would call it a success and it was only it's first time.

  4. A big thank you to all the team and volunteers. A great show from the Westfield members, around 160 cars on Sunday, the weather definitely made it. It was very nice not to wake up damp in the morning. I got home at half past 7 tonight and after a shower and some food that wasn't from a pig now looking forward to a nice soft bed. Let's hope next year is just as good.

  5. Just wanted to say thanks to all the organisers and volunteers for all the hard work and putting such a huge club area together. Didn't speak to many as I don't know anyone being new, but hope that changes by next year! Thanks again

  7. I would like to add to the thanks for a well run WSCC stand. After many years of walking up and down the line of Westfields today I drove my own there are parked on Westfield Avenue. The 4 years of building, making things fit that didn’t fit and waiting for parts have all been worthwhile. Driving their in the sun today was brilliant. Everyone I met on the stand was friendly and helpful. Now, work permitting I must try and get to the local meets. Can’t wait for next year.

  9. Not having the ex-chairman there or even in the country was an excellent idea. Giving him money to stay away is well worth it. Please repeat it next year.

  12. While it's fresh in your minds, here's the feedback and ideas thread for Stoneleigh. We'd like to know all the good and all the bad, please feel free to comment. Any specific feedback you have about the following would help for next year:- Hall 2: Did you visit, any feedback, what else would you like to see? The marquee and parking area WSCC advertising, Banners etc. Did the autojumble outside the main marquee work better than inside... was inside the marquee a better environment Volunteering: For set-up Packing away During the weekend If you volunteered, is there anything that would make it easier for you, too many or too few volunteers? Any specific feedback on Snack bar and drop off Membership services Auto jumble Charity raffle and prize draws Display cars Camping and parking A few comments to get things started Good - Hog Roast.. enough food? This year it was also used for Monday lunch.. beer and wine ok? Good - Numbers of helpers, Set up and packing away was quick and smooth Good - there appeared to be a good flow of non members though the marquee, lots of conversations with the 'meet and greet' staff.... and a few new members Charity collection: We charged members a small fee for drinks and snacks (volunteers were free, but many volunteer conributed to charirty anyway ..thanks)..more on the collection amount later Good- badges for volunteers only this year. seemed to work better Good - using email only for volunteers made organising and communicating much easier. Staggering start times of volunteers... did this help with the handover... I'm still not sure that handover was completed every time? New for this year..did it work? Outside autojumble Scalextrix Thanks again to all the volunteers and especially those who helped with Saturday setup and Monday breakdown..... everything makes a difference.

  14. I thought the boonets off at Stoneleigh was an excellent idea and would like to nominate these three as my favourites a BDA replica at Cossie Duratec with an awesome Simpsons Manifold Any a well sorted Mazda 1.6 (in the best colour for a Westfield) Anybody else got their favourites?

  15. My Dad and I thought that Orange Mazda was a fantastic engine bay as well. However I think @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AO had a fantastic example ... very clean and attention to detail was great.

  16. Not the fault of the WSCC but IMO hall 2 was dead and to me the club stand was lost on the back wall of a half empty hall. I understand that hall space is currently promised as part of the WSCC sponsors package (so we have to be there) but considering what the club are asked to pay for hall space I feel that the show organisers have let us and the other exhibitors down somewhat by not filling the hall. If the decline of stands in the halls continue or if the show orgainsers continue to push up their prices for hall space then I feel the Speed Series would be better placed outside either in the club marquee or alternatively in a spearate marquee/gazebo in the club pitch.

  17. The outside autojumble kept the inside of the main tent looking very smart - but if it had rained, it could have been a struggle outside - although I guess the missing sides and roof would help then The 'bonnets off' idea was very good as an opportunity to catch owners with their cars.

  18. Dave, I had only just arrived also, but you are always a busy chap at these events, so we will proper catch up one day. Thanks to the club for having a cape to buy, I am just trying to find out how to fit it now.

  19. Was sorting the car out from yesterday and sorting a clunk at the front , which only happened travelling in Oxfordshire . Found the front cyclewing bolts a tad long and on bouncing though volcanic craters was hitting the tyre on the N/S . Was getting pretty damn hot on a tarmac drive with goggles and an angle grinder on a black car, I can tell you. So, done and back in the shade. Love this weather and would never get bored of it, unlike the winter.

  20. Being honest here, the WSCC area completely dwarfs any effort put in by all of the rest of the show. Was good to catch up with people, although I didnt stay long , as had to sort mini TJ's birthday today and sorry I missed some. Was disappointed in the show itself, with lots of empty areas. Its not a good sign in the long term scheme of things sadly. I suspect the show may disappear in not too distant future. But that doesnt stop the club from carrying on with an annual event and make it (somehow considering how organised it is) bigger and better somewhere else. Well done to all involved in making it the success it is.

  23. Just to add my thanks to the organising committee and all who have helped out at Stoneleigh. Unfortunately I was only able to stay for a short time on Sunday. Took this photo at approx. 11am and there were still cars arriving. I'm sure Monday will be just as good if not better!

  28. Had a great time at my first WSCC event. The car went well and I was warmly welcomed by all the WSCC competitors. Many thanks to them and to Terry Everall for showing me how to modify my car set up. And thanks too to John Williams for patiently answering all my questions in the weeks before the event. Looking forward to Blyton a week on Saturday.
