  1. Not everyone keeps all there receipts and stores them in a file with a matching photo album. Some of us actively chose to avoid having such a bulk of divorce promoting evidence. Our biggest fear when we die is our partners sell the car for what we say it has cost!

  3. Now I'm a fully paid-up WSCC member, I can post two more photos I'm collecting the car on Sunday morning, but looking at the weather forecast for Monday, its going straight into the garage The current owner says it is a proper handful in the wet - extremely tail-happy. Can this be engineered out? If I remember correctly, its running Toyo Proxes at about 19psi. I'll have a bundle of questions - for example the throttle response is a bit fluffy coming off idle and it can cut out when cold. Sounds like the map needs tweaking to me. Not sure I fancy mapping it myself, so it will need a pro - any recommendations in the Midlands? I'm enjoying this already and its not even mine yet....

  4. Ouch, that would have been painful. One of my children ran into my mother-in-law and broke her leg on a ski trip. That was very painful for me.

  6. Bit of a thread drift, sorry, but how nice is it for a newbie to get solid and seasoned advice to an age old question rather than “use the search”. Just goes to prove what a cracking club we have

  7. I had t1r on my first Westfield & it went sideways everywhere, which I thought was great fun at the time current Westfield has r888 fitted brilliant in the dry but you have to drive to the conditions in the wet but that’s no different to any tyre on these cars!

  8. Before you do the compression test 1. If you have compressor blow out any dirt where the spark plug sits (stops muck going in the bore when you take out the spark plug) 2. Would take out all spark plugs (engine will turn over easier and faster (you don't have to but again good practice) 3. You don't need fuel or spark so pull the fuses (good practice) 4. A little oil on the O ring seals will help you seal the joints (good practice) 5. Gauge is on 0 6. Your ready to test. Turn over the engine for about 5 seconds or so with the throttle fully open, you will see the gauge stop increasing. 7. Write down the result 8. Move on to next one, remember to reset gauge to zero Hope the above helps

  9. The one in Halfords has the extension with it. It's the long black tube. I personnel use the solid shaft extension like in the previous link Https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0012MEMWM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_5VLVAbJKPCCY6

  12. Shakey I have just read your original post..to see what you are going to use the car for.. mostly weekend some trips and some track days.. to be honest I think you will be fine with any of the engines..all generally good.. just look at overall package and which suits what you are going to do with it most. To be honest though it is nothing like a Japanese 4x4. So that's the decision you need to make first.. If set on a Westy then look at plenty.. stoneleigh show on soon so you would see loads there and could talk to the most knowledgeable guys and gals in the country.. If it's the messing around with it you like buy something cheaper and then start the upgrades!!

  13. Tail happy in the wet is fairly normal for light weight rear wheel drive cars. But best bet is to get it to a local specialist to have the car corner weighted, ride height adjusted, camber sorted, toe in fixed and dampers set up. Might cost north of £150 but we’ll worth it!

  19. Yep, you start seeing dash illumination wires in your sleep after a while doing that job; there's just so many of them!

  22. Would love to but I'll be in the White Mountains (New Hampshire) starting my 40th birthday celebrations a few weeks early by hunting large animals, ice fishing and drinking whisky next to a roaring fire I've made from scratch. At least that's what I've been told will happen but I suspect when all that fails because I'm not an experienced woodsman ... the holiday will be spent finding a bar with a nearby McDonalds!!!
