  1. Wow, from what I thought was just a simple innocent post it looks like I have opened up a big debate... let me just state that that was not my intention. Also thanks for all the comments and messages of encouragement, we recognise that winning is not everything, and we are realistic in our expectations... the social side does play a big part, and we don’t dismiss this aspect.... But the die is cast for this year, we have already entered the MSC, and have our schedule of 9+ events, hotels are already booked etc... some of these will coincide with wscc events, so I’m sure that there will be ample opportunity for your committee to test the 3.5% assumption. But back to my first point, debate is healthy, but I think that Maurici has articulated our considerations very well,,,, a true road going car will not be competitive in your class F... so until that aspect is addressed in your class structure then you will possibly not encourage new bike engined cars to join in..... So I guess that is the burning question.... how is the SS going to be an inclusive, and sustainable series and recruit new ordinary road car / novice driver combinations with limited budgets.....

  2. I was waiting to meet up with @CosKev one morning last summer at the Ponderosa on the Horseshoe Pass (he was late as usual). There were'nt many cars around as it was early, suddenly I heard a noise which made me think "someone is trying to fly a Saturn V rocket up the Llangollen Valley on full chat" A good 5 minutes later Kev hammered around a corner doing at least 25mph.

  4. OK, so been in touch with the IVA people via the web/eMail and just had this back today from this nice chap Tony Selwood -------------------------------------------------------------------- Good Afternoon Steve, There is no requirement to fit a fuel cut-off inertia switch for the IVA test, that is not to say you can’t fit one but anything fitted on the vehicle would be assessed as part of the IVA test. 8. It has taken me a long time to get to this point , unfortunately after a marriage break up last year and other stuff going on I have decided to sell my Westfield to concentrate on other projects . 2005 Seiw originally built and Iva'd by Dave Eastwood . Completely rebuilt by me over the last 3 years on the road last autumn . All parts are new or reconditioned apart from engine . 2005 Seiw , Ford St170 engine , running Westfield exh manifold and a Carbon exhaust silencer .Intake is St170 manifold and injectors with Gsxr throttle bodies .New fuel tank pump and filter and regulator. Omex 710 ecu with new custom made loom , loom has been made to take a lambda sensor and if a cat was fitted would meet any emissions requirements but on a Q reg emissions are visual for Mot . New std wiring loom too , new battery , hi torq starter motor . Chassis was stripped and all holes welded , powdercoated in graphite grey as are wishbones . Shock absorbers are brand new protecs new springs too front and rear . Interior panels are all carbon fibre except for the floor which is new aluminium powdercoated . carbon fibre chassis plate and rebuild plate . Carbon tillet seats standard westfield harnesses . Carbon fibre dashboard , gearknob , handbrake grip and steering column sleeve . Carbon pedalbox cover , carbon fibre FW bootlid only one in country at moment std bootlid too . Red FW side and back end , black ZK nose and V8 bonnet LED rear lights . Carbon fibre rear diffuser. New MSA Rollbar New Team dynamics wheels and new toyo r888 tyres Westfield carbon fibre centrecap logos custom made as the new wheels from Westfield came with none. All brake discs and suspension bolts have been zinc plated gold . Front calipers are 4 pot Westfield hi specs with solid crossdrilled discs . Rear calipers are rebuilt and powdercoated Sierra items . GEARBOX !!! Quaife QBE56G rated for 375bhp three years old and was stripped checked and rebuilt (no longer sold by quaife but they were over £4,000.00 new ) . New clutch , lightweight flywheel (gold zinc again don't want any rusty bits anywhere) New aluminium bellhousing. LSD 3.62 was rebuilt for previous owner of it but he never fitted it . Oh spare used scuttle windscreen doors and wipers , might need the odd bolt or bracket but thats a few quids worth on its own that little lot . This car is almost like new , so what's wrong with it , well if I'm picky maybe an electronic dash . Possibly a quick rack ..... built it to avoid upgrades . Could do with a rolling road set up is awesomely fast will be even better , I have priced to allow for this . 07971 264550 Julian .... Located Gloucestershire GL15 area

  9. Not all of mine made it home. Ford E93A - expired. Cooper 970S - grenade engine, turned into shrapnel. 1300 Escort Sport - rolled on the way home from the pub, with the wife. Mini 998 - rolled on the way to work, long story. Hillman Avenger - altercation with a Lada in the snow. 1500 Escort - rolled in Clocaenog, Cestrian Rally. 1293 Cooper S - lady driver, but I had right of way. XR2 - too many miles, not enough oil. Vauxhall Victor FE - stolen, but why? Lots of stories and memories, only three remain at the moment, two Westfields and a Ford Kuga. Saving up for the Aston.

  10. Just for information there are currently 4 drivers entered in class F ( No John Hoyle as yet) and 2 are Busas ! You wont know how quick you are unless you join in and get free advice on car set up, suspension, tyre pressures, mods etc as well as full paddock support and free mechanics and materials if something happens to your car. We can repair most cars and carry a lot of spare parts available to the speed series guys . The paddock banter and support is unparallelled and all part of being in the Westfield Speed Series.

  13. I'm no expert on models but I think that is a narrow car,so depending on your size and size of your m8''s you might be a little too close! If you buy a Mac1/mk indy etc you really do need to look it over properly,on these cheaper kits the builder has to make brackets/pieces etc that are not included by the manufacturer. Where as a Westfield can be built by someone with way less mechanical knowledge etc as they are a more comprehensive kit. If I was buying again it would be a Westfield or a MNR Vortx for me. Although MK are now under new ownership and looking at there cars at Stoneleigh last year they looked good I'll say it again, don't rush into buying a car! Stoneleigh is on May bank holiday weekend, the only kit car show that''s still running

  16. In my experience (as an asthmatic), if you need to take your Salbutamol inhaler, your probably not in a position to be competing.

  19. Agreed, this is such a special car, it even seemed to inspire many of the companies that supplied parts/did work on it, to go the extra mile with the subtle details.

  20. @A1243R that''s good you've got mechanical experience! Have a read of this thread to give you some idea on Mac1's customer service, the blatant lies are probably the worst part https://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/forum/45/viewthread.php?tid=175001 But,if you buy a fully built road legal Mac1 you will have no need to deal with the factory, as it's only really bodywork/wishbones etc that you would ever need to buy from them if it got damaged. Everything else is mainly universal parts or can be used from other kit car manufacturers with slight mods to some parts. Ref BEC vs CEC BEC's are certainly an aquired taste, the gearbox, being dog engagement,is clunky and knocks a lot coming off/going on the throttle etc due to lack of cushioning like you get on a bikes rear wheel. The low engine torque means you need to be using the gears a lot too,you can't be lazy like you can in a CEC and take roundabout's in third gear and just pull away out of it! I love BEC's though, the acceleration with the sequential gearbox and noise at high revs is really good on B and A road blasts!Downside is they average about 1000rpm per 10mph,so 70mph cruising is 7000rpm,so on dual carriageway's/Mway's the high revving gets monotonous to me,but I'm not planning on touring etc so I just avoid boring straight roads and always go the back road/scenic route! I've only been in one CEC vs 5 BEC's so I am biased, but the Zetec CEC I went in on Oulton Park confirmed my fears that the standard Type 9 box and Zetec on ITB's felt boring to me,revs dropped too much between gearchanges and it felt too much like a daily driver/tin top with the standard 5 speed gear change.

  21. So change the price! It's your choice and you said you're in no rush. Sorry to see you part ways with it Stuart, I had a good look at Stoneleigh last year and would echo Dave's comments, it's an incredibly tidy and well put together build!

  23. To fit their daft plate of alloy with a handle they pull out of a cupboard and test it fits in the tea tray you stuck on. Poxy thing it is too. I didnt screw mine on, but velcro'd and it stayed on. I had to dremel the edges near the fog and reversing lights to fit better. On a note @BugMan I have a mate building his latest car and has moved the reversing and fog light like you have ( and I have done after IVA) and has passed on his last build, but I didnt want to risk doing it until after the test.

  26. Ok update time I have four people interested , first is due this Saturday . I have contact details so if interested I will reply in turn I'm not going to make this into first with the money it needs to go to a good home and will respect those who have asked already , this might not work in my favour but aim to be fair . Interest shown reflects the fair price and condition of the car I think . Thanks all .... Julian

  27. I agree about it being boring and the rest of telly totally crap, was watching a rerun of Father Ted and thought the cast would make an excellent set of Top Gear presenters ( I do realise some are now deceased) Dougal would be great as a Stig, and Mrs Doyle as that German woman who pops up now and then, Father Jack as James????

  28. For Sale, 2015 Mega S2000 SEIW FW Very reluctant sale but due to lack of use and other hobbies it should be out there being used and not sitting in my garage. I'll post more photos when I have wiped the tears from my eyes. Gauging interest at the moment but will go on Piston Heads in the next week or so. Built and registered in March 2015, Has just been MOT,d and passed without advisories. Has just over 3200 miles and is in superb condition as you would expect a car with this mileage and age. SPEC. Built on a Mega S2000 chassis with the usual extra bracing that comes with this chassis. Lowered floors, powder coated panels, Wide track front wishbones. FW bodywork in Zenith blue with Gulf vinyl wrap decals. Carbon rear diffuser and Arch protectors. Ally bodied Procomp shocks, Larger radial mounted Hi-Spec race brake callipers and discs with Hi-Spec rears. Honda F20c engine with Omex Throttle bodies and 630 ECU producing 245 BHP@8800 RPM (The noise is out of this world) Honda six speed gearbox and Sierra 3.62 LSD diff. Electric water pump, Light weight alternator, Large ally coolex radiator. Tillet Carbon fibre seats with schroth four point harnesses, Carbon dash with Savage switches and a race technologies DASH 2 display. Carbon fibre tunnel top, kick strips and sill protectors. Caged full roll cage. Removable Momo steering wheel. WF cage half hood. Racing battery with trickle charger. So how much do I want? £22,500 or sensible offers (I'm in no rush to sell) I have a three inch thick folder of receipts and paperwork for the new owner. I know it's a lot of money but it's a lot of car with by far the best engine that you could fit in one of these. You could always pay £35,000 for a Sport 250 that's fitted with the wrong engine
