  1. From a different perspective, there are also different ways to be able to build a 'different to factory' construction , which many of us have achieved on certain parts, so this could be a good sub section to also consider. Just think of the time Mark Walker could save by having this information available ' To subscribing members only'. We are aware of the stalling of any recent publication of construction manuals and I agree in this great idea , to give confidence to new builds and new members embarking on building , especially on rare cars with information issues. This would also help with the same information from new builders asking and repetition. Although we all like to help, by the bucket load , if documented , will assist the builder on a Sunday morning when no other factory assistance is available.

  2. In fact, if we had a build 'wiki' here (or elsewhere), Mark Walker could even post latest factory info in there - he must get really bored answering the same questions day-in, day-out from builders that just need a more up to date photo from the factory, for example. If we did it here (rather than a 'wiki' site) then it might be easier to moderate and more visible to the majority of members, perhaps? Plus we could ask WSC to sponsor the server space...

  3. Yes, yes, Billy and Dave, and all the others, I can't wait for you all to be back with us. You should see the road we have been on today. It goes to nowhere, obviously, it's empty too, but it has been closed due to a landslip for well over a year. It has finally been opened and the views, oh my, but the best bit is that it finishes at The Millstone Country Inn, if you remember we had a rather yummy Sunday carvery there. We might have to wait until there is some extra cow poop on it though because it was a bit too clean today Now stop reading this and get working on those cars

  5. We met at The Wheatsheaf, found the fire and ordered the bacon sandwiches. That is, Andrew, a 2 hours drive away, and Martyn and Sue, a 1 and a half hour drive away, a dedication to be very well respected. We were soon joined by Matt, all the way from Lincolnshire, 2 hours away also, in his green Westfield running a 1.8 Zetec on throttle bodies. Now that sounds a familiar combination!! and a very good choice too. Everybody was soon clucking like mother hens around the new addition These cars were all far too clean and we needed to go and find some pure Peak District muck, which we did in true style, thankfully it was dry stuff and not too sticky. We took the great big circular road to nowhere and even stopped to admire the views. Stop, I said it would be slow, but there is no traffic on these roads, mainly because they don't go anywhere. You know the rule by now, FOLLOW ME That's it, the road to nowhere Well it actually goes to The Yondermann Cafe, so we stopped off there for lunch. You know what is coming next, we needed a cake stop and the Insomnia Cafe was the chosen place. I even managed to not break their flower vase this time. Forget horsepower, Martyn's car is exactly 2 break manpower, get it, ha ha.......never mind. For the route home we diverted through the Chatsworth Estate (where Martyn and Sue headed South) and up over Beeley Moor, to drop the Lincolnshire Boys off at the petrol station. What a lovely day, thank you to everyone for driving all the miles to join us, thank you very much, we have enjoyed it immensely. Ssh, but role on summer!

  6. This is a braced roll bar with rose joints so great for trackdays and to help towards keeping you alive (the standard rollbars can fold flat in an accident). This is higher than standard which is perfect if you're tall or want a little more ground clearance when you're upsidedown! Includes 3rd brake light and hidden wiring which runs inside the bar. £120 collected from Reading, Berkshire or postage at cost.

  9. I agree I also have all the receipts and while still adding to the pile would be scared ****-less to even think about adding things up, especially when you consider workshop candy (tools) as i can sort of kid myself its for the future. Man hours spent by one of us would be vastly different to a factory built car I suspect, and while they might work an 8 hour day, and then go home, where we steal a few hours in the evening mostly and at weekends (I suspect, and just opinion) I cant imagine what an hourly rate would be. I did originally keep a record on hours spent, but my hart was not in it and after forgetting a few nights, just gave up. I also know in my head what I spent on the kit, and in my head thats the figure its worth to me, but as Dave said its the options that change the landscape - vastly. Again it was the wisdom here (WSCC) that made be stop mistakes like tires from WF that I didn't really want (T1R, r888), and originally was going to buy, and then swap at a later point (I bet the first set of tires will last me years RiR's bought new recently). I would suggest that what a car has fitted as options, outside of engine/chassis are not as important as the availability and price, as one of my local group bought a car with an areoscreen, and is now fitting bits to make it his (windscreen and electric mirrors)

  10. ...and of course, when it comes to spending that sort of money on a fun car, you have an awful lot of options these days, including some toys from the big names.

  11. I know how much I forked out for the kit. And I keep trying to pluck up the courage to go through our PayPal account and add up all those "extra little bits" I bought when building mine. Plus the Toolstation and Screwfix bits as well! Whenever I mention it, my "Financial controller" just says " do you really want to frighten yourself". She's probably right. It doesn't stop when you're on the road either, Internet shopping is too easy Doesn't answer what a new Sport 250 should cost though. Not really sure how you can value our cars, mines very valuable to me, but in terms of pounds, shillings and pence not really got a clue. Don't think anybody would be prepared to pay the going rate for the man hours (can I still say that?) I put into the build. Guess the cost would be kit, including options, plus factory build charge. But does that include IVA?

  12. Fingers crossed, with a following wind, and not getting snowed off this week, I may be rolling by the weekend!

  13. I'd also support this idea, and would willingly submit content. If we had the a) Official step, and then B1), B2), B3) etc. popular alternative submitted by members and then moderated by somebody senior, like Dave. I also bet there is a massive amount of cross over between generations and model types that all could benefit from. I'd also been thinking of a recommended supplies list for things like alternate to "Silicon Sealant" for panel fixing, where I picked up some P40, which I've just been using today, and found from somebody else build thread. Recommended tools would also be another good idea maybe?

  15. Too close to the Oulton one I'm doing Dean, but if it's a nice day, I'll pop along and say hello, and take a photo or two.

  16. Missed these runs out, even if my waist line hasn’t! Still hopefully back on the road fairly shortly now.

  17. Just a quick note to say thanks Julie and Glen for organising the day. Without you doing all the organising i would not have been out at all - probably vegetated by the fire. Much better to be with good friends eating our way around the Peak District! Good to meet MattV and we travelled in convoy to Lincoln before going out sepetate ways.
