  1. Due to the up and come road trip to Switzerland this year, I though I would have a go at fitting some doors for the motorway runs. Little bit heath robinson but, fingers crossed they'll work on the road, they just need testing and some straps for the back of the doors

  3. The day started with lovely run through the Peak District, with it's clear air, a dusting of snow on the tops and long shadows that the winter sunshine supplies. We met Ian and Martyn and Sue for lunch, before taking a different route back home, grand. Thanks for coming everyone and don't forget to bring your camera next Saturday, it's time for a photo shoot.

  4. I'm delighted to report my car cut out on the way home and I was able to coast to the safety of a farm entrance. On plugging my laptop into the ECU no comms could be established until I cycled the ignition off and back on. This confirms my suspicion that the ECU locks up, causing my cut out. I'll feed back to Omex on Mon and they should have a test rig set-up to try and catch this occurring using an ECU and coil packs from a similarly afflicted Mega S2000 from the Emerald Isle! His does it every hour usually as Vtec cuts in and out. Mine's only done it 3 times in circa 500 miles since fitting my Loan ECU in Nov.

  5. Current classic car prices are just crazy. I never thought my little cars could be thought of as being in this category as they were intended to be individual pieces of “fun”motoring. They were fun then and I am sure now. i still remember driving number 1 and thinking great FUN!! Enjoy!

  6. I trimmed the bottom of the doors off and they fit really well. Also went back to soft bits 4 7s left the car there and Jill made me a new roof, pretty much a full roof, really pleased with it. The westy is in bits at the moment as soon as i get it back together i will post some pictures.

  7. Looks fine mate. There is some pillars Stu was selling without the mirror castings in the classifieds. It really is the swiss army knives of cars, yours

  8. That was 3 years ago. Never got a warning, just told to go home. I think the wind had a bit big part in the Noise, just blowing the wrong way on the day.

  9. Weathers good at the moment, so I’m going to take a rain check on this and carry on with Westfield rebuilding, see you next time!

  11. Pretty sure that’s the type of drivetrain used by Fred in The Flintstones.

  13. Check the carbon tip in the dizzy cap - when my car was crossflow powered, I bought a brand new distributor and cap from accuspark and after a trackday at Bedford, having run perfectly all day, on the way out after going over a sleeping policeman the car cut out and wouldn't restart. Turned out the carbon tip in the distributor cap had just sheered off. Poor quality Worth a check as a cheap starting point... Good luck with it!

  16. Depends what you mean. If it’s literally what does a Westfield with an S2000 engine in cost, then about the lowest I can remember off the top of my head was around £8/9000 years ago, for one of the early S2000 engine transplants into a modified Westfield that someone had done. However, there are very, very few of these cars around, as it was always regarded as one of the most tricky/expensive engine swaps to do. And of the conversions done, I suspect most were done as quite high spec competition setups, so not cheap, as and when they occasionally come up for sale. However, the “proper” factory engined car, the Mega S2000 is only three and a bit years old as a model, and was a premium model from launch, again, while it’s been popular, not many come up for sale. The range of prices I’ve seen seem to be typically high teens to low twenties, depending on spec, age, condition etc. The fact that the S2000 car itself has now started increasing in value as a modern classic means that we’ve also seen the supply of engines and transmissions for a few thousand or so, now start to be high threes and even four thousand plus. This will ultimately also have something of an effect on Westfield Mega S2000’s values too.

  17. I can't help think that the bubble HAS to burst but I have been saying that for the last couple of years. 911 prices started to show signs of softening last year but nothing significant. Frankly I do not care whether the value of mine goes up or down - I bought it to enjoy tinkering with, enjoy driving and hopefully to pass on to my 10 year old son at some point in the future
