  1. A-Plan for my tin top always comes out on top A-plan for my rental properties comes out on top A-plan for kit car always gets nudged up by quite a lot. I find myself swapping from A-Plan to Adrian Flux and back again each year. They all nudge it up. I used to always call up and magically they get it back down again I take the view that if they nudge it up, I don't bother haggling to win and get it down. I just go elsewhere now. If everyone did this, it wouldn't happen and customer loyalty would genuinely be rewarded

  8. ...and Demon Tweaks sell large diameter ones if needed. You need to ensure you Alternator pulley ratio to crank pulley ratio won't allow the Alternator to see north of 18,000rpm at max engine rpm, unless you want to buy another soon! With my Honda S2000 engine having a 9000 rpm redline, the first one I bought saw 22,500rpm at full chat

  9. I totally agree with Stephenh and insure ally car and motorhome using A Plan. I have had 2 small claims which were not fault and they dealt with them brilliantly and recovered my excesses and arranged repairs. Its not all about cheapness but how quick someone answers the phone and calls you back but in my case A Plan were also cheapest and gave free advice including on my grandaughters learner and new driver insurance.I will be staying with them!

  10. What about people who live outside town & commute City dwellers , whats wrong with using public transport . Empty HGV is hardly economical , a 20 ton 6 axles laden does a bit more than the westfield

  11. That’s always the frustration of comparing insurance though, so many variables, from geography, to personal circumstances that you never see a real like for like figure.

  12. I pay less than half that amount, as I suspect do most members. That's not too much to skim from when they take their percentage. How often does the average member need an Admin change? not very often I'd wager. It's equivalent to the cost of a curry for Gods sake.

  13. I agree Gary, the 300h is noisy when pushing on, but quiet when not. The RX450h is the same, but agree SUV not to everyone’s taste. Good job we all want something different.

  14. If APlan are a sponsor to WSCC then what are we the members getting as benefits? Quick calculation: 1000 members paying on average £250 each = £250,000. Appreciate that they are brokers (just a middle man) and are just skimming money of the top of our premium but seeing that they made over £25 million profit last year and are predicting an increase in that profit in 2018 who's pulling who's leg? Rant over but possible not finished

  15. Ha ha! Rockinham's no fun in the rain mind.. ( I have a vid somewhere clattering the Armco in said conditions!) but I think we're fairly safe in May. Anyway, I've sent them a message re discount.. we'll see what they come back with.

  16. I wasn't defending A Plan in particular - more playing Devil's Advocate from a 'supplier' viewpoint. From a customer perspective, I get well cheesed off with "admin fees" and will always try and negotiate them down or at the very least have a minor rant myself

  19. Yes. Adrian Flux was cheaper. A plan got greedy even with any discounts so they got the elbow. One of the questions is how much they charge if anything to change details on the policy. Even if I exceed the expected mileage in a year which I expect to pay for but not and repeat not the very high admin fee that these sharks charge you. I always pit insurance companies against each other to get the best deal, it's the way I am.

  20. I don't know if it increases downforce but the Westfield one I have on my car adds another 30mph to the car when it's stood still.

  22. When I changed our XC60 for a new one, LV didnt charge a penny for moving the private plate off the old car, they didnt charge a penny for the change of the car and then the change of plate again. Its what made me stay with them. Most insurance companies ( mainstream) do charge an admin fee sadly , even though no ink is really used these days.

  24. My last change to my tin top policy was £40 (not with a-plan)just to update my address and move half a mile . But when you look at rent, rates, utility', and wages it's hardly surrising they have to charge . I guess you can always shop around next time. But on the positive they did reduce the charge .

  25. Adrian Flux were much more expensive than A plan.. plus last policy I had with them they charged for ant change and.. which really annoyed me.. they had a premium rate phone number! I have been pleased with A plan.. But still find it annoying being charged admin fees.. by anyone!

  26. Need to do mine this week! but that's still cheaper than the my van. That was £50 with no increase in premium, also had to pay £30 for the tintop they are all at it I'm afraid.

  27. I can't help think that the bubble HAS to burst but I have been saying that for the last couple of years. 911 prices started to show signs of softening last year but nothing significant. Frankly I do not care whether the value of mine goes up or down - I bought it to enjoy tinkering with, enjoy driving and hopefully to pass on to my 10 year old son at some point in the future
