Didn't fit anything to mine & haven't noticed any problems, they still look as good as the day I put them on unlike the plastic ones that didn't last five minutes. As for that stuff they fit to tintops it may reduce noise but it hold all the crap & mud so I wouldn't bother with it, plus it's extra weight which deflects the carbon3 points

Yea, a BIg thanks to all who have made comment on this, I have settled on the Toto 205x50x15 Proxy R1R's on both front and rear. Been a bit of a learning curve, but think I'm there now, next job it to find some on the web once my birthday money comes in at the end of the month. big Thanks to all, as usual.2 points

Waiting for delivery of some carbon fibre cycle wings from carbon-nv to replace the plastic ones that i destroyed at donington. What have people been using to coat/cover the insides? I'm thinking along the lines of reducing the noise of stones/debris hitting the inside. What is the felt stuff that is fitted to tin top production cars?1 point

If you run a aeroscreen the stones hitting your forehead are the biggest worry!!1 point

@IanK (Bagpuss) Out of curiosity, if it's 4mm from the rim to the straightedge, what is the distance from the edge of the tread to the straightedge? Here's the lip I mentioned on the R888 - you've scrubbed the tread to within mm of that, you've definitely used all of the tyres you paid for! I've got tame 205/50-15 Uniroyal Rainsport-3's on 7" rims, and the actual ground contact is 185mm at resting and 19psi. It defo looks under-tyred and if I ever pot-holed a rim and couldn't get a replacement, I'd go down to a 6.5" set. However, it's true that track tyres have a contact patch that is closer to it's stated width, and actual rim width is measured across the inside of the lips. Here's a 205/50-15 T1-R on a 6.5" from one of my old MX5's for comparison. Sorry @BugMan, has this all gone off-piste, or are your questions answered? - I (and probably everyone else on here) like a good discussion! Incidently, the code for your rims 5K2-58024H1 - 58024 is 5 for 15", 80 is for 8.0" wide and 24 is the offset.1 point

For a standard road going car you don't need to fit a separate cut off switch to be fitted but you must clearly mark the on / off position of your ign switch. You can buy a " scrutineers" sheet of various sticky labels if you wish. I might have a basic spare cut off switch though Simon which is yours for the cost of the postage ( if I can find it) Just drop me a PM Mark1 point

You have a good point. I have found someone who has done it in a westfield by modifying the passenger side footwell. Too much work for me so will be either using a type 9 or another option which is in development ;-)1 point

Good link Russ... I have not driven OP but did watch his Snetterton one and enjoyed it... Now roll on spring time!1 point

One important thing to remember come renewal time is that should you decide to not renew then you must inform your insurance company. You may have a significant discount that REQUIRES club membership. This alone often makes the fee worthwhile!1 point

Hi Mike, welcome to the site. If you would like some advice from someone very new to Westfields, here’s mine.. I’m a tight arsed Yorkshireman so paying fees for anything really goes against the grain, if I can find a way of getting owt for nowt, without taking the p**s, I will. But I have to admit paying the full club membership has paid for itself more than a few times for me. I have bought and sold cars and parts on here, also been offered cars that weren’t advertised yet and been given loads of advice from more than helpful members that seem more than willing to bend over backwards for you. Stuff you won’t get on FB forums. I’ve been offered meets and runs out.. I’m not a people person so the club thing and meets etc. Is a tall ask for me, but I will one day.. My renewal has just come up and to be honest my first reaction was my default setting of “naa, don’t waste money” but then I thought about what I had gained from it over the past year and decided it is worth joining for another year. The magazine alone may be worth the fee if you like that sort of thing. I must admit, I’m a picture browser with a short attention span, so it doesn’t do that much for me, but my grandson likes it Personally I’d like some nice club stickers without a date on them.. out of date stickers upset my OCD . If you are serious about getting into Westfields then, although it pains me to say it, you could do a lot worse than join the owners club. You will find all you need to know and may, like myself, find the perfect car for you. You May find the forum a little frustrating at times because it doesn’t seem to be often used. But hey.. people have lives and don’t bob on and off forums like some do on FB for example but you will find the best advice and for sales etc. are here. Good luck.1 point

Hello from Ripon Nice looking car. The lights, if they are the same as mine are basically the same as the ones on most of the old Harleys I've had, so that should tell you something Even the ones on my old Mini's were better! You can get 7" shells and some decent lights to go in them but I'm not keen on the bigger bug eyed look so will stick to squinting in the dark It sounds like you could do with a tune up from what you are saying. Has it ever been set up properly? Jim1 point

Not as awkward as being able to carry a spare wheel, then finding that the factory jack no longer reaches the jack points!1 point
