  2. Might I suggest that you lock the thread before it gets pages of comments?

  5. Let´s see if I can explain this without making it sound bad... (as I´m no-one) carefully with that. In my opinion this tutorial should come with some sort of disclaimer... The tutorial is Excellent, really, dont get me wrong as is probably one of the best and more usefull videos I ever seen in youtube, BUT is really really extremme and for (in my opinion) very talented drivers. I dont feel confortable at all with some of the lines he explain -the fast ones- at least not with my car and with me at the controls... as I have the feeling that if you try to do the cascades, island bend or the shell oil hairpin that early (even with the explanation of the camber in the middle of the track and so...) with a westfield with zero aero, you may be in trouble and you will be too early to make the corner, and probably too late to save the car.. and the twin apex in druids is super super dangerous (but they say is where you atually win races) and you will likely end against the barrier-as he also explains- and is only worth the risk if you are competing. There is slighly slower but much safer ways to do druids unless you are actually fighting for the british F3 championship. And I say that because Oulton park is really dangerous and fairly unnatural, and i think is the only ever track of the ones I´ve been that I feel wrong and unsafe when I´m actually in the fast line. However, the purely technical bits as for the chicanes, the uphill section (more scary because is blind than actually dangerous) and the late entry corners (first and last) are excelently explained. "EDIT" @AdamR, your turn to disagree and call me girly.

  7. Not to worry, hope you’re feeling better soon; least you’re getting your personal repairs done in the winter upgrade season!

  8. I wish you were nearer to me Weekend warrior as you clearly want to learn about your car. Everything on a Westfield is straightforward and anyone can learn but there is no substitute for having a mate who can show you and talk things over. We trip off the tongue terms we are all familiar with, but if you do not know the term it is hard to decipher. Add to that your car is made from components originally on other cars, engine, gear box etc and getting parts is harder if you do not know what they originally came of as year changes can make a difference at OE level. Have a look for any local colleges that do night classes on car maintenance or see if there is a local member willing to spend an afternoon with you, it is much more enjoyable with the fear taken away.

  9. Actually I think servicing of premium cars is a bit of a rip off and as much based on what they think the customer can afford rather than what it really requires. Look at the service costs Lamborghini dealers charge as an example. A main service on a murcielago is around £3300 and a minor is £1800 The £1800 is only an oil change and inspection. Yes it holds about 11 litres of oil but why so expensive? Just because most customers want a main dealer service stamp to not impact resale value. An independent would charge about £400

  10. Well that was the original plan. We left Brum on Friday and are now in Edinburgh and have covered 1100 miles. Today we also stopped at an Asda to by clothes as we had ran out of clean essentials! We were originally spending last weekend in the Yorkshire dales and moors. Our journey so far from Brum on Friday is to Atherstone, Market Bosworth, Quorn Wymswold, Newark Air Museum, lincoln, Brigg, Humber bridge, Hull and more cross country to finish with @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AO and fish and chips for tea on Scarborough sea front. Saturday we were joined by @Dave-P-H and over the Saturday and Sunday we covered over around 500 miles through the stunning Yorkshire dales and moors. Indeed we spent around 22 hours out having fun, drinking tea and eating cake. Monday was quieter with a trip to York and York Minster and the Railway museum. Tuesday as the weather was holding we decided to head for Holy Island, bit last minute I know but a mate of mine has a pub there and he could sort us a bed for 2 night's. We hugged the coast all the way there from Scarborough to Holy Island taking Whitby, Boulby, over the Transporter Bridge and up the the Durham heritage coast, over the Queen Alexander bridge and then the Tyne Tunnel. Next was Tynemouth, Whitley bay, Blyth, Newbiggin, Cresswell Amble, boulmer, by this time we we were tired so jumped on to the A1 north to Holy Island. We'd been on the go 8 hours after a very busy weekend. We then had 2 fantastic days relaxing on Holy Island thinking we best go home after, anyway we haven't, the weather looked good again and we're now in Scotland. More to follow when I can with pics

  11. Even with a 1.6 CVH T1R’s I found scary in anything other than the dry. But they are cheep and say toyo on the side. R1R have been night and day better although did get badly chewed at silverstone so I now have a set of r888’s for track days.

  12. It looks much neater on the car, full size spares look oddly miss-proportioned on the back of the car. The standard Westfield vinyl cover fits fine.

  13. A top tip is to do the oil and filter change before you store the car for any prolonged period. This way the car sits with nice clean oil around the engine and not with any contaminants which which could cause corrosion gumming etc. Randy

  14. Clause 3.1 of the Regs is currently incorrect and shows class A1 and B1 but has changed to A and B Also the events calendar has been updated from the original draft doc. John Williams will post these in next few days and hopefully the revised Target Times as well

  15. Still really enjoying the car, outings are a bit limited, been rather "damp" on the Somerset levels. When the sun comes out temps. drop and the roads are covered in salt! Got some ACF50, but haven't applied it yet. Still on the T1R's, they seem to cut through the S*** on the road! Finding that provided I'm gentle with the right foot and change gear early, the car (still "running in") being very tractable, is fun to drive. Mind you I suspect my progress (or lack of) would make experienced Westie drivers laugh! Had a couple of throttle induced moments, nothing with lasting (or laundry) effects though. Whilst I'm probably driving like "Miss Daisy" I'm really enjoying it.
