These blinking Westfield drivers really are proper nuts. Quoting my words from my earlier post 'I have changed my route to lower ground' yes, Simon, thanks for totally ignoring that fact by giving me a naughty grin and suggesting that we go up Winnats Pass. I don't have a 'NO' button, so, Winnats Pass it was, nobody thought, oh it's snowy let's not. Ready, here we go........ We set off in slushy, rainy, snow to arrive at a dry, cold Wheatsheaf where Andrew and Pete, and Simon and Jacob were waiting for us. We congratulated Simon on having the very best Christmas present that you could possibly have, a second Westfield, and he proudly showed us around it. A roar of an engine later and Martyn and Sue soon arrived, with their new in-car communication system that Santa bought for them. The staff in the Wheatsheaf apologised and told us that they were not serving food until midday, so we booked a table for 8, for later, and left. Glen was popular when he suggested we go to Grindleford Station cafe for breakfast instead, so off we went and parked up right outside. Sue and Glen were quick to warm their drinks up with a nip of whisky My second route plan was now messed up because we were at the wrong starting point, so I started to plan a third route, until I was intercepted by the aforementioned Simon and his nuts idea, to go up the Winnats Pass. We excitedly jumped into our cars and set off on our unusual adventure, the nearest you can get to an alpine pass without leaving your home county. In places, the roads were decidedly iffy. The views were so amazing and it was so much fun, not fast, but definitely fun. We wiggled our way back down the other side to finish back at The Wheatsheaf for lunch. Thank you to Jacob for filming the Pass and Glen for removing his glove to take the photo's. To Martyn and Sue for driving through a blizzard to get here and Andrew and Pete, who set off in heavy rain on a 2 hour journey. Last but not least, thank you to Simon, for bringing your superb new Westfield out and I am glad you got to try the first gear out, 60 eh! More photo's to follow...7 points

Ok.... I've had some time off to recharge the batteries and regs have just posted the changes that have been made since the Opening Post. The SSOT have been listening, but we can't please everyone and I can see from the 14 pages of debate & comments.... so thank you, it nice to see passionate conversations. There are now 2 sprint championships for novice and experts. Club Stewards is now sorted @Stephen H (thank you) Classes A & B's target time/record times (Please note, This is not a reg issue) - In previous years these were based on an adjusted time; next year is a real target time is set this will be used. (2019 will be record times, if you guys do the events and clock times); the spreadsheet will be published under a new post. In the nicest way this thread is now locked. The final will be published once jack from the MSA confirms he's happy. Many Thanks John2 points

So I posted a few notes on this car. I bought it from a dealer in Philly and it arrived on the 12th. It's not quite as sorted as I had hoped but not bad. It was supposed to have a dry sump, it did not. Mostly happy though. just have to spend a bit of cash and do some sorting. the electrical has been a bit of a pain. The car lived in Japan for 30 years and I would have thought the basics where sorted. Have had many Lotus and It seems not all Lotus owners are all as detaled as myself so not too surprized that I will need some electrical work done. I am going to have the whole thing re wired. As far as I can tell the wiring is possed, lights wont work for a while and then they just turn on by them selfs and wont turn off! Not kidding. I tried to clean up under the dash and and I added a few zip ties and it really started acting up. I cut the ties and all is back to normal. Happy to say the motor was rebuilt and runs great. Really plan on a few things, Wiring Brakes Better 4 point roll bar and tonu cover Brakes, Can anyone Id the master Cylinder? It looks like a TR7/8 Master made by AP Lockheed. But the mounting flange on my tghe TR7/TR8 unit has bolts that are left and right not top and bottom like mine? I have been searching and have not found anything that matches. The unit is a 3 circuit master, 1 Circuit to the rear brakes and 1 for each of teh fronts. Weird set up that was supposed to be done by the factory in 85. I also leaning with a 2 circuit master one for the rear and one going to a T fitting at the front split into left and right with a presure brake light switch at the front. Love to hear some thoughts on this, wilwood has a kit that would work. Has a 1" bore.1 point

Main reason you can tell it didn't come from Westfield - all the parts were present and correct and the build manual made sense!1 point

Well I found a place in the USA that sells the proper version of the light and they arrived over the weekend and I got them installed yesterday. The high temperature yesterday was 6° F and the roads are snow covered so not a good day to test out how bright these are but I was able to get a weight on the stock lights vs. the Dominators. The stock 5 3/4" lights weigh 35 ounces (992 gm) each and the smaller Dominators weigh in at 20 ounces each (567 gm) which of course is a savings of 15 ounces (425 gm) per headlight. Not too shabby. One thing I really like about the Dominators is the ease of adjustment with the right/left and up/down adjustments being completely separate from each other. The stock lights have the one big nut that, once loosened, allows the big lights to flop around in every dimension making it very fussy to adjust accurately. That's all I've got - dave1 point

TBH I never ask for car related items. This year some rather nice single malts were 'hinted' at!1 point
