  1. Split this from the other thread as requested - good idea, I'll be in touch I reckon as planning to have a go next year myself Let me know if you want it pinned (remember we don't want to have too many pinned posts as it can get crowded up there!)

  2. I couldn't agree more Scotty. I started out in SS as a complete novice with a very standard narrow body car. As my times improved so did the car and my confidence. Even after 10+ years of competing and a fair bit of success I hand on heart still compete as I enjoy the crack. I have a very quick and well developed car, I have a reasonable amount of talent but am I going to win the Speed Series again? A very Probably Not, but am I going to stop competing, absolutely not! I think we are all getting very bogged down here with times for every eventuality, which is not feasible, manageble or necessary. Our brilliant Championship, (believe me it is) is blessed with not only some of the quickest cars in the country, but also some of the best drivers. There are also a number of ex SS drivers now doing very well in other disciplines, a testament to them but also to what they cut their teeth doing. Target times will never be everyone's clear cut system, but none are. They are as much as is possible based on FACT, and will always reward the quickest driver - driver/car combination, which is the only and right way. We are a Speed Championship! Whilst I agree that this debate is healthy, it's also in my opinion being stretched too far. Look at the results, they don't lie, the quickest competitors are winning, both against Westfields, and quite often against everything else they compete with. We need tweaks, not an overhaul. Get to an event, drive your socks off, enjoy a shandy, home! Kerr Out!!

  4. I should also add that if there is anyone, novice, previous competitors, anyone who thinks they fancy a go at sprinting but you need advice, help or just a nudge in the right direction there are many people who can offer great advice. Feel free to add your name below if you can be a buddy! Drop me a mail, happy to help where I can or point you in the right direction. I'll start: Richard Kerr - rgkerr21@gmail.com

  7. Been to sunny Blackpool today to collect the new addition. Can't wait to get some dry weather to get it out for a run then get it ready for next season in the speed series.

  8. Paul Morcom (Gloucestershire) - paul.morcom@pointerconsulting.co.uk Good call Rich. Perhaps we could start a specific "pinned" topic for a register of buddies. Then won't get lost after time.

  10. As a non-competitor (complete novice) who is new to the westfield scene, I would say that entering such a series in the outset would be more for the fun factor rather than trying to be THE BEST. IMO promoting the SS and educating potential newcomers would get more entrants than messing about with the scoring system. The main decider for me would be cost and secondly the time available to attend enough events to accrue enough points to get some achievement factor.

  12. Hi Both Andy and I have just fitted cages from Luke at Playskool and they are a fairly easy fit. Just double check the door bar length, as on both of ours they were too short so we had to weld in additional chassis bars. Luke is aware of this, and the cars are both wide body although 10 Year’s apart in age. hope this is useful, unlike the “Facebook” comments !!

  13. Glad your smiling! Don't forget even if the reply is irrelevant and not useful, it may get the post further up the list of recent posts and hence may help others with more to add, to see it!
