  4. I think if you treat it as a bet and are happy to lose whatever you have put in then that's the best way to look at it. But as someone whose always been involved in making things in order to earn money the whole concept just feels "wrong" to me.

  5. For my fiftieth Tricia allowed me to buy myself a Rolex - wanted one since my mid 20s when I was working in Saudi Arabia and I’d just received a healthy bonus.. My 18 year only has just cashed in half his Bitcoin investment and ordered himself the same watch and spent £5k on parts for a gaming PC. A year ago I cautioned him not to invest as it was a bubble going to crash - fortune obviously favours the brave and I know nothing about investment as I ordered my Eleven shortly after giving him my sage advice!

  6. Anybody that is dumb enough to call a Stanley knife-wielding man named "Slasher" soft, please queue in an orderly fashion below so we can laugh at you and your surviving relatives can be found afterwards - thanks.

  7. The SSOT has been very busy over the last couple of months; and I will publish the minutes of the Meetings in due course... but the important documents for the drivers are the draft regulations for 2018; ****These have not been submitted to the MSA as they are just being proof read and I need to speak to MR XXXXXX to ask if he would be willing to be a club steward.**** Ideally we do not want or like change, and we have tried to limit them each year; but sometimes external forces are put on us from external bodies like the MSA or because a regulations was not fit for purpose. We agreed as a group that the SSOT would publish why a change was needed, and also try to give reasoning on the adjustment. The 2 pages of summary does not give value to the amount the time the team have met talked, debated and agreed on a change. So thank you to the SSOT for their time. WSCC 2018 MSA Speed Series Regs 1.1 without Track Changes.pdf (draft) WSCC 2018 MSA Speed Series Regs Final.pdf Explanation of Changes to 2018 Speed Series Regulations.pdf I will speak to @Chris King - Webmaster and Joint North East AO to get the online shop up with the 2018 link. Many thanks John "Panda" Williams Ps We will leave the post up for comments and questions and I do have the popcorn ready

  9. Nearly 400 years ago there was a fashion for breeding (if that is the correct term) new colourful fancy tulips. People started to "invest" ever increasing amounts in buying them, until the point was reached where one bulb could change hands for literally a fortune. It made some dutch bulb breeders very very rich. Unfortunately, when the "investors" wanted to sell their bulbs, and said how much they wanted for them, other people just laughed at them. There's nothing new in this word.

  15. Having left my reply until the next day, in the hope that somehow the meteorologist ladies will change their mind, I am very, very sorry to say that I cannot set out into a forecast of 'considerable snowfall' There are 2 weekends before Christmas and, with the exception of the sacred GBS visit next Saturday, I will be only postponing this event until the next day that the roads are available. 21. @Martin Rice (Sparkymart) - Cornwall AO the audio quality is excellent. As mentioned by @CraigHew above. He's got a windscreen and I haven't yet we could both hear each other clearly with minimal wind noise. I believe they've got some noise cancellation circuitry. You can hear the other cars engine over your own which is quite strange when you're at slightly different parts of the same road and hence accelerating at different times to each other but it's no biggy. Constructions straight forward, here's a few pics to help showing the difference in thickness between the Mk1 version with the red Peltors and the slimmer green ones from the ebay link above. They come apart very easily and just require a few holes drilling and then some hot melt glue or similar.

  22. Even the Seahouses Polar Bear was hiding outside The Ship Inn as he wouldn't fit through the door. But we could & will be heading back shortly for real ales. A great pub, with a real fire. Just what's needed after being out in the cold.
