  1. I just spoke to the MSA about the Ar-1. Their response was this: ”for 2017 they never got approval for all sizes in time. So only the specified sizes were a 1B tyre. The rest were 1C. This will change for 2018 however and all sizes will be a list 1B tyre. “ Mike

  9. Had to chat to Westfield this week. Seems my manual won't be ready till around Christmas time. I'm trying to pick off jobs I can have a go at and won't be too upset when I have to un wind them and do them again. I thought getting the pedals in should be pretty easy. After running through four boxes and a bunch of bags of bolts, I couldn't find the right ones. turns out they were never packed! Fortunately, Ian at Westfield spotted this pretty quickly, when asked, and sent them out overnight. So... my first job for the weekend will be to get the fly-by-wire accelerator pedal in. loving doing the jobs that make it actually look a little more like a car and a little less like a kids climbing frame on its side.... ;-)

  13. MSA have ruled out List C tyres from Road Going classes but are legal to use on the road and will pass an MOTC. Many WSCC owners and competitors use these tyres for road and competition but under MSA rules it immediately puts you into Modified Specialist Production Cars category and have to meet S12 of the Blue Book. SSOT wanted to keep a class for road legal class that used List 1C tyres; hence WSCC Classes C, D, E and F but as the Speed Series is regulated by the MSA we are not able to call them Road Going cars. These are "road based" Cars that were specific for competition and used slicks (WSCC Classes G and H) are also bound by MSA Blue Book Modified Specialist Production Cars S12 - these are non road going So the real difference is that a WSCC "road based" (not an MSA term) is a car fit for the road (i.e. could pass on motc, could be taxed and insured for the road and competes in that state) and a non-road going is a car that is not road legal (i.e. slicks, could not pass an motc, etc.). To add to the difference if a J12 Road Based car is used on the road and has MOTC, Tax and Insurance then strictly speaking it does not have to have an MSA Logbook/Vehicle Passport to compete in MSA regulated events. However some scrutineers do not understand this and it is probably wise to have an MSA Vehicle Passport.

  17. I have been to Scapa three times about forty years ago on diving expeditions staying on a converted fishing boat and touring the various dive sites. There used to be a Scapa museum in Stromness which had loads of stuff from the wrecks and also a interesting museum at the formal naval base of Lyness. I still have a book entitled 'From Jutland to Junkyard' which our old boat skipper reckoned was the best book on the subject at the time, you are welcome to it if interested. I have VHS tapes from my time there which I keeping to get transferred to dvd but never seem to get round to it . Have a great trip with good weather

  18. I think you need to put some steering rack extenders on. This gives you a bit more track and will get the wheels pointing in the right direction! You will possibly have to shorten the steering rack track rods but this is covered in the FW manual which you should be able to download. All the suspension of the FW should be the same as the sport 250. John
