  1. Thanks for the advise guys. I have taken the video off youtube for the time being and maybe I'll edit just the crash another day? I didn't like the fact it was causing the doctor distress and he had received one or two negative comments. The last thing I would of wanted was for him to be upset and getting grief. If I knew this was going to be the case I wouldn't of posted it my intension was to show the fantastic job the people on the scene did and it never even crossed my mind that anyone would say otherwise. I did leave him an answer phone message earlier apologising and admitting it was probably insensitive to post it with out at least asking the medics in the video, I just didn't expect any negative comments at all and quite the opposite but to be fair 99% of the comments were saying how great the medics, marshals etc were My comment on the Facebook page in question below; I was really disappointed to hear that the attending Doctor on the scene was being given a hard time by certain people on this Facebook page. As Neil said the main reason I put the video on YouTube was to show how amazing all of the people at the scene handled the situation. It is easy for someone to sit behind their keyboard and say you should of done this and done that but you weren't there and being in a situation like that must be extremely difficult for the medics and marshals involved. I'm so grateful for what they did for me and was upset to think that Stuart was distressed by the comments. The video has now been removed. If I thought for a second this would happen I wouldn't of posted it. On the other hand the good comments far outweighed the bad ones and rightfully so! Cheers Mitch

  2. Forecast was right, woke to a lovely sunny day, too nice not to go for a run. So Headed south across country to Chard, then on through Axmister and down along into Lyme Regis, usually nice and quiet this time of year now all the grockles have gone. Drove down to The Cobb, to find the place rather busy with people of a certain generation (guess that includes me if I think about it). Managed to find a space to park up, first question, where do you securely put a parking ticket on a open Westfield. Put it under the wiper and took a photo, just in case somebody borrowed it! Nice walk out along the The Cobb, made me fell quite young! Had hopedfor a nice photo opportunity of the car by the harbour, no chance to many buggies and zimmers! Gentle chug up the hill, then down through the busy town, then picked up the A35 heading east. Lunch stop at the Clock Inn at Chideock (had recently been there for WSCC Dorset meet), then onto Bridport and found the Morrisons for a fuel top up. Then we headed north through Beaminster (just had to drive through the tunnel!), and towards Crewkerne, unplanned diversion (poor memory) around the country lanes and on to Martock, then to Langport where we stopped at Shakespears glass. Fascinating place with excellent cake and coffee right beside the river Parrett if you're passing. Short run, and home. A lovely days run in the sun, can't remember having to stop at so many sets of temporary traffic lights though. Went along a road which seemed to be more water and mud than tarmac, early in the day, now realise that water spray seems to curl down over the top edge of the screen and deposit itself on the inside of the screen! Guess this must happen to everybody? Think a wash and polish is on the cards for tomorrow. Trust I haven't bored you too much.

  3. Left home at 05:30 plodded up the A37 through Bristol to Filton, left work at 18:10 average 6 mph for the next 40 mins until I got to the M5 and got back to Yeovil at 20:00 - didn’t need to stop for fuel as my diesel Clio does 700 miles/tank, no tunnels but then who cares with a 86 bhp chugger. Still at least I don’t need to polish anything...only 7 more years......

  4. I think you can have a clear conscience here Mitch as your intentions were only ever for praise of those who attended to you in your time of need.

  7. Fairly easy at Caldwell, they asked what the max rpm was which I said 8500rpm to which they asked if I was sure it was! Told me to rev it to 6000 odd rpm which I don't think I got to before they said ok & it only read 94db, static was 106db I think. So not a proplem, I think it's the itb's will drive by that causes the problem.

  8. Sorry, I will have to miss this. The weekend plan appears to involve beer Friday and Saturday night, with old workmates that drink like fish. Recovery time after a good night out gets longer as I get older. Have a good day.. Tescos sell Snicker ice cream if it gets too cold or wet

  9. I probably didn't stray more than 10 miles or so from the airfield on that particular flight, although we do also do cross country flying. That flight was just under 2 hours duration. We use Oxygen above 10,000 feet so no, no real problems with the altitude. It was cold, though! My feet took a while to regain their feeling upon landing!

  10. I agree with Justin, although I'd leave some of the assistance in the video, too- the cool, calm care of the medics and recovery crew is great to see and reflects well on the organising team and might even provide some reassurance to other competitors

  12. It's alive! Got my Westy back on the road today! Had the gearbox rebuilt whilst the engine was out - new selector forks, synchro cones, seals, bearings, pump and breather. Changed the clutch to an organic clutch plate, new cover, release bearing, strengthened fork (the part that failed) and a McLeod Racing lightened flywheel which took over 3 months to come from the USA. Even sailed through its MoT Happy days.
