  1. I wouldn't care a jot what others think. If you're happy with what you paid then you're happy. £12 to someone with very little cash will be a lot of money, so buying in essence a "hobby car" may well be seen as profligate. However, that same £12k to a high-earner will be small change. my point being if everyone replied to your question with the answer "yes, its way over-priced" what would you do? take it back? be unhappy with it for the rest of your ownership? Whatever happens, your outlay has given you the potential for a lot of enjoyment but if you find it isn't for you or needs must then you can always recoup (most) of your money. Westfields tend to hold their value relatively well, not quite as good as Caterhams but much better than your average car. So in 3 to 5 years time you can probably sell for the same £12k barring any mishaps. Your pictures look great and you're probably mad keen to get out and about. Just remember that it's almost end of season now but there's no harm in looking forward to next summer...! One final thing, I have found WSCC membership and forum access absolutely invaluable. My membership costs have been recouped many many times over.

  4. wooo @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary you've used the real deal, very nice! - I fake-baked mine, but the benefits are the same. The only cold I feel is my right thigh on the panel from cold-bridging, it's the only panel not carpeted.

  5. Not a long drive for us in Herefordshire, it's one of our favourites for a quick spin on a good day, but it does mean venturing into Shropshire. Single track road across the common to the top of the hill, big ruts/holes/puddles in the [sort of] main car park, but lots of other places to tuck into. There are old quarry workings and quarry buildings as well as the NATS radar domes. A few good walks around the common and on to the summit of the hill, cracking views all round on a good day. The sky gets dark enough for star/Milky Way photography on a clear night and if you like a challenge it's usually the first place to get snow in the winter. Gary

  6. Meet at 10am Halfords, Ashbourne, DE6 1DU in readiness for the back roads of the Peak District, to end up at The Tin Hut Coffee Tavern at Pott Shrigley, for lunch at midday. I will be booking a table, as it can get busy, so please let me know if you are joining us. After lunch, it is more twisty roads to make a visit to my current favourite cafe, Tagg Lane Diary, for the biggest slices of cake in the Peak District and/or the yummiest, home made ice cream, in any flavour imaginable. The weather is forecast good, but should they get it wrong (often) I have a plan up my sleeve for roads on lower ground. That's me, certified organised, Mr @aeg

  8. I will use this weekend to wash the new oil round. From the heat that a Honda produces, you must have leprosy , as it will be a billion deg celsius by 20 miles !! Oh and dont mention coolant leaks on rads

  9. Welcome along Agree with Craig. But,the only risk with buying at a top end dealer price is if you don't like the Westfield experience /ownership you will lose money on re-sale for sure.

  11. I won't get any higher if you warm your oil up stationary before changing! I used an oil change as an excuse for a 20 mile blat

  12. I haven’t done the bonnet - may give that a go, but I have retrofitted the cockpit -made a very worthwhile improvement to temps, and though hardly quiet, it has improved matters when I drive with the top up. I’ve saved a piece or two to do the engine facing part of the scuttle, next time it’s off. And then on the tunnel and rear bulkhead, I’ve an extra layer of the Dynaliner thermal insulator matting. It does add weight, so obviously not suitable for everyone. But in some extreme, (high 30’s) temperatures, driving for hour and two hour blasts in France this summer, it made a huge difference to the heat soak I’d normally get coming in from the engine and transmission. (The Honda is a hot engine!)

  13. If you can handle 3-4kg extra onto your car, I can thoroughly recommend dyna-matting the alloy panels and bonnet to greatly reduce panel-drum, before the new carpets go down. If new-building, then it can also go on the backside of the inner side panels (opposite the tunnel, if you know what I mean).

  14. You will never get them back in good condition but if you look at the links below both do Blue carpet in differing qualities. Any trimmer would easily make a set up as you have good templates with the old ones and will probably have local suppliers as well. http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-90-rotproof-carpet.aspx http://www.martrim.co.uk/car-trimming-supplies/carpet.php Hope that is of some help
