  3. Anyone else had any howlers. Just had Skoda ( you know, the cheap one in the VAG chain ( think they were trying at pulling mine)) So, our 999cc of sheer power is due a service next month . Its only done 10 k miles. The lady called me said it also needs an air con service. My reply was ' I am in the air con trade, so do you think it needs a service ? ' Skoda girlie ' Er............ no, it wont need one then' . (Thats a great money spinner ) Skoda girlie ' But the car requires an annual service ' Me ' Yes, that is correct, next month' Skoda girlie ' Would you like me to book it in' Me ' Can you tell me the cost for this ?' Skoda girlie ' For an oil change ( 3.5 litres) , oil filter and pollen filter , its £260 ' Me ' hahahahahahahahahahahahaha' Skoda girlie ' er..................' Me ' Thanks for the costs. Can you email this to me please' On another note, when I get the service costs, I have an email saying that I will get a half price service due to the mongs washing my car , when it went in for warranty work, so happy days............But £260 for a noddy car service !! Must be thousands for the big cars...................I used to pay £250 fixed price for our 10 plate Volvo XC60 and that used 8 litres alone.

  4. Party eh? women of my age rarely get to go to a party, so I can't pass on this one, even if it is only a Steam Party. Here is the plan, meet up, blag free entry by showing the cars, stay for a hour or so to admire the steam engines as they parade around the ring, and then drive somewhere just for fun, it is a party after all. Glen is getting excited, he thinks that he is going for a sauna. Is anyone joining us? Time/Place TBC depending on who, if anyone, comes.

  5. Sorry, I’ll have to give it a miss. I got dragged out to play in Wales today by the naughty @greenstreak aka Sparky Dowler and his accomplice @IanK (Bagpuss) all the jobs that should have got done today are now staring me in the face tomorrow! Have fun! And hope you get the same great weather we did.

  12. Slicks probably aren't a good idea for a track novice though, IMO.

  13. If you're planning on using the tyres for track use, is it not an idea to get a couple sets of rims and fitting slicks and wets to them, that's what I've done. I got a set of lightly used slicks for around 80quid with a lot of life still left in them. One of the up sides to slicks I have noticed is the difference in weight, it's incredible the difference between my Avon ZZS road tyres and Pirelli slicks. I've also got a set of wets which I haven't used in wet conditions yet, but I did witness @stickymint at Croft on one occasion, I was on Toyo R888's and he had proper wets on and he was running rings around everyone while I was struggling to stay in a straight line. Plenty tyres for sale on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X13+slicks.TRS0&_nkw=13+slicks&_sacat I also know someone who buys them in bulk and sells them on for a reasonable price. He usually has a wide selection of compounds, sizes and manufacturers, posts them out to me next day and have always received tyres with a lot of life left in them.
