  1. The awards evening dinner is advertised as a dinner dance, and has been for several years. However, there has been no music or dancing at all at the events, a clear breach of the Trades Description Act. Therefore, in order to protect the club from unnecessary litigation from unhappy punters, the only right thing to do is for @John Williams - WSCC Competition Secretary and @Andy Banks - Chairman to provide the dancing on the night for the entertainment of all attendeees. I would suggest they perform the big dance scene from Dirty Dancing - John can play Jennifer Grey's "Baby" role and Andy can be Patrick Swayze. I suggest they start practising now.

  3. Hi all, Got my Westfield yesterday, got it insured and taxed today and had my first proper drive. Didn't go far, as I wanted to see what issues it showed, xflow and twin 40's mean re learning how to start a car old school style. Mrs even enjoyed our drive out, that shocked me to be honest ! Loud, smells like a proper car, and lots if little niggles to sort. 1st was a big oil leak, think I've traced it to a full catch can, will find out tomorrow if it's dry enough for another run. Need some doors and a half roof at least, as we'd like to use it all year ! Expect questions ! Graeme

  4. Well, with seventy mile an hour winds predicted in a Cheshire tonight, I do feel somewhat sorry for my Westfield as it sleeps outside! Just been out and added a load of extra straps/bungees to the outdoor cover in the hope of keeping it intact and more or less in-place.

  5. If I recall your driving style usually means they don't get used excessively either! Hence my surprise! Could it be uneven pad deposits? Clean them up with some wet and dry and try a few hard stops from 70-30 repeatedly (AP recommend this for bedding in new pads and discs and ask for 10 stops from 70-30 and then let them cool totally-which isn't easy to do with modern traffic).

  8. I disagree with most of the above, except Chris! I drive mine in all weathers, with the exception of salty roads. Even on track orientated tyres, it hasn't killed me to death yet. Scuttle led also not sealed to aid quick release - have had no water related problems with electrics. A drain hole in the GRP seat and a couple the foot wells are a good idea though. Its a car, it won't melt, enjoy it I say!

  9. You can't have worn them out yet, surely! I've found these people excellent in the past: http://www.bgdevelopments.co.uk/ & Ian Godney may be able to help: http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/

  12. Hate to say it but Plato said it all ................. we could build it better in our own garage and what's wrong with that .... nothing ....... its a kit car we all love....... that allows us to put our own identity and upgrades into using tyres etc of our own choice ............... give any of us the budget of purchasing a factory built car and we could all possibly build a car that would get better reviews ................ but we don't have the overheads with rent rates and wages to pay and profits to make If journos have an agenda they will always be biased be that good or bad ..... they can find fault in anything

  13. We will be back off holiday in time for this event, so meet at McDonalds, Ollerton, NG22 9DT at 9.30am. From there we will go the 5 minute journey in convoy to GBS and park up together. Alternatively meet us at GBS after 10 am. @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary as it is a 2 hour journey for you, if you want you can call in at our house for a comfort break, or rattle straight there, just let me know nearer the time, and when we have a weather forecast. We are definitely going regardless of weather, but we might cheat and go in one of the other cars if the rain is biblical.

  14. Yep! The only concession I will make to not doing that is to set the timer to 'ONCE' in winter and 'TWICE' in spring summer and autumn so that the boiler doesn't cycle all day. My system is wired wrongly because at one time there was an outside pool and a spare boiler to heat it. My basement plumbing - much of it redundant due to removal of the pool twenty years ago - looks more like an industrial installation than a house and the wiring is ridiculously complex and wrong. But, yes, thermostat set to nineteen or twenty-ish and left like it.

  15. I would also check your brakes and tyres. Both may have to work well when they are cold and wet. My advice would be to stay away from R888s and get some TR1s @ £50 a corner and get some Mintex 1144 pads on your front discs. Both work well in the cold and wet although the 1144s squeal a bit!

  16. You will get wet, so will the car no matter how well put together or protected it is. ACF50 as Dave says is a lifesaver. Try and get one of those leaf blower things, this is great for removing water from all the nooks and crannies after a toweling down. Consider that some of the electrics are fairly open to the elements too. Above all - in the wet, the car can be a handful! Please take all precautions and have fun. A wet car can be easily dried; a broken car or worse a broken driver perhaps not so easily put right.

  17. Rain doesnt hit the windscreen all the time. Sometimes you find you are stuck behind Doris in her Micra doing 20 mph and you get very very wet.............
