The Flying Scotsman is visiting the Barrow Hill Round House in Chesterfield from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th September. We have previously visited this place a couple of times as part of the Matlock Mystery Tour, it has just been re-vamped and this forms part of it's grand re-opening. Put the date in your diary and I will sort the details out nearer the time for a visit to there. We may well be going all 4 days actually .

Cracking day. Great racing. Great weather. Company wasn't bad either!! Jeff thanks for organising and sorting the tickets.

Terry's top tips when touring. 1. Make sure you can fit your half hood on with luggage strapped on back of car. 2. Half doors and or wind deflectors are great when it gets hotter but if you intend using motorways then full doors are recommended. 3. Motorways usually have tolls. Small bag of change in the car comes in handy. 4. Plenty of water. 5. Use storage behind seats if your not 6' 6" tall. 6. Satnav with upto date maps you will not regret it. Some new roads have been built. 7. Plan your routes Tyre software is great for this but set you way points carefully. We did have 3 or 4 routes planned depending what happened if it was a long day the day before. 8. Spanish and French drivers will overtake you in some unexpected places if your just toddling along. Use your mirrors. 9. Put a small rear view mirror top left of windscreen to cover your offside blind spot. 10. Don't try and do too many miles per day. You'll be suprised how long it takes if your on the twisty roads. 11. Plan or make sure you know where the petrol stations are depending if you have small or large fuel tank. This will be important when you plan a route which is off piste. 12. Watch out for single track roads that look good and twisty on the map. Can take a long time on these routes. 13. Tractors are all over the place. Take your time choosing where you overtake them 14. We seen quite a few camping places if that floats your boat. We used hotels and alike go for the ones where they have good parking secure if possible. They normally charge for parking but it will give you peace on mind. 15. Check if hotels include for breakfast before you book. We used booking.com you pay when you leave. Will post tyre routes a bit later.

Hi all, As a new and first Westfield owner I thought I'd say hello. I've been on the site for quite a while, not posting a deal but an avid reader absorbing all the Westfield info I can whilst looking for a car. The good/bad thing with these cars IMHO is there is so much choice in particular engines. I just narrowed it down to what I wanted to do with the car and what would keep my attention. So, I'm now the proud owner of Steve's Sport 250 as per attached link. I tried to put my sensible head on and buy a lower budget car but this just ticked all the boxes so the rest was a pretty easy decision. Thirteen hour round trip but great car and nice bloke so all was worth it. Car now lives in the Midlands and I will try to get to some meets, mostly work away in the week so limited as to what I can do. So, I'm sure you want to know what's my thoughts re the Sport 250 performance? Well, I have owned a supercharged Ariel Atom for the last 3 years and this is its replacement. Why you may ask? Because the Atom ties up a lot of money and are mega expensive to maintain amongst other reasons. Back to the Westfield ................ I certainly didn't step from the Atom to the Sport 250 and notice a massive difference in power. I was really impressed with the torque and mid range grunt. This is a VERY rapid car which I know will keep me interested. It reminds me of my Focus RS with turbo dump valve, lots air intake noise and a surprising loud/deep stock exhaust. Its early days and TBH I need to get to know the car, its characteristic's and generally learn how to drive it. I've got a few changes in mind probably over winter. I've always enjoyed tinkering which also drew me to these type cars. If it aint broke fix it Chris

Another fantastic weekend at the Gold Cup, really enjoyed it, thanks guys for all the work you put in and for sorting the tickets, and the cakes were lovely too!

We followed Trevor through some lovely countryside, past Alton Towers and to the Lemon Meringue cafe. This is my photo of our cars taken from the ground. But 'Rambo' here took one from a different angle Then it was 'cake time' The monkeys at the tea party Colin had family commitments and had to leave, but thank you for coming today. After cake we set off on Trevors Circular Tour of Uttoxeter, passing Taten Hill Air Field to arrive at Claymills where the staff allowed us to park next to the pumping station. This is a Governor, which is the steam equivalent of cruise control Martyn asked Andy if he thought this might fit in the WSCC tool roll These stairs are today's health and safety nightmare You thought Dave Eastwood was at Oulton, when in fact he is moonlighting in the blacksmiths This looked remarkably like Trevors garage It has been a brilliant day, thank you to Trevor and everyone else that came. It must have been warm, I went home with only 1 coat on!

Your welcome Steve, glad you both enjoyed it. We arrived on time, which by everyone else's clock was early, and removed the bonnet so the engine could cool off ready for Trevor's Synchro thingy Martyn and Sue arrived Followed by Andy and Becky Trevor fetched his surprise, it was his wife, and a very well done to Kirsty for joining us all today He was followed by Ray, Steve and Kate, and Colin Trevor soon got down to business with the Synchro jobby, and the good news was that all 4 throttle bodies read the same, thank you Trevor. After a quick tea and wee we were soon ready for the off. Hilarious, Trevor was leading and we got to the end of the road and he is in his mirror, gesturing which direction to travel, leading is harder than it looks!

Our pleasure, really had a great time and it always enhances any road trip when you meet lovely people like yourself and Emma.

Lesson learnt, you won't come this far north to these fantastic roads with out it next time. Your face as we drove out said what you were thinking! and proboly couldn't say in front of the kids lol @Andy Dawson.

What another brilliant day. Here are a few photographs from today.

I finished getting through all of that legal red tape recently. It took about 10 weeks from start to finish. I did a writeup that details the process. I've been doing a lot of driving the last couple of weeks. Having lots of fun. The only issue I've had was a loose alternator wire.

I'd love to able to tell you where we went but I don'tt really know apart from alot of it was stunning. Scarborough to the Dales and back. Not sure how many miles but around £50 spent in fuel so that's plenty lots then.
