  2. Today has been a long one ! The hotel at Lourdes had its own resident Alsatian which as some of you know don't agree with me on these euro tours :-/ It was a wet start and @Terryathome dash 2 was playing up but we pressed on, climbing the Pyrenees started with thick fog but soon cleared. Then we got caught up in a cycle race which was a bit of a pain but didn't last all day. We stopped for a quick coffee stop and changed from doors to half doors and wind deflectors as the heat was building. The afternoon has been extremely hot but so many miles of brilliant twisty roads has made it a great day . We have made it to our villa near Barcelona for a 4 day stop and we are all exhausted, so a quick trip to the shops and time to relax :-) here's a few pics.. nice handbag Terry :-0

  3. OK, first off, unlike some, as a club, we have no specific policy, (currently) on what can and can't be posted specifically in a For Sale thread, outside of the normal rules for all posting, or the restriction of non-member sales being in their own section. So it's very much a case of courtesy and discretion. Recently though, and with no wish to single any individuals out, there have been a few sales threads with some very, very off topic discussions kicking off, or discussions about price. First and foremost can I remind everyone of one key point. - In order to post an advert, you have to be a paid up member of the club. Please understand that this means some members will even pay to join the club in order to sell items, and now consider the Fro Sale posts once more in this light. It is essentially a Classified Sales section, that is free to use for members, or that you can buy the use of in as little as 60 day chunks. Would you scrawl extra messages all over some ones sales advert in the Newsagents window? Would you book advertising space in the local paper to comment on the advert immediately above yours? Normal good manners would suggest no, unless there was something factually wrong/misleading about the advert, in which case you'd report it. Our For Sale section is essentially the same. Except that, potential buyers have the luxury of asking questions, getting clarification about features etc, Even a certain amount of good natured "bumping-up" is accepted. (Posting some trivial comment to move the post back to the top of the un-read list). Prices are always a contentious topic, and while no one wants to censor their discussion, there is a time and place. If you have comments you feel would benefit the seller, you can either use the PM system to discuss them privately, OR, start a fresh thread (ideally in the Members Only section), and invite the poster of the sales thread to discuss it there. There may be very good and logical reasons why something is priced the way it is, but crashing the adverts themselves benefits no one in the long run, and ultimately discourages people from using them in the first place. If on the other hand, you believe an advert contains a deliberate or even malicious falsehood, please do not hesitate to use the report button on that post, and the moderators will look into it.

  8. Pop the cover off and have a look to make sure that the foam cover is fitted over the pump like below. It quietens it down a fair bit. A ticking noise from the pump (providing not excessive) is considered normal.

  9. If I put a tea tray on the underside of a brick, it will still not be aerodynamic. There are too many possibilities to actually feel the difference a little splitter will make. To be proper aero and create downforce, you need a car like flymo was. If you want aero, then flat bottom the car , front and rear diffusers, box in the wheels and wishbones and even then it wont come into play for a lot of MPH. It looks nice , but I dont think it would make that difference.

  12. I remember many freezing days in November watching the RAC rally in Kielder, the days of Escorts, Talbot Sunbeams etc. We also used to go to Croft to watch local drivers in Minis, Fords etc. Motor sport seemed to be fun and affordable then, was going to go to Scarborough to watch the Barry Sheene event but they wanted £35!!! .

  15. Day 4 Leaving Lourdes today and heading to Jorba, about 20 miles short of Barcelona. Over the Pyrenees again, well it is a driving holiday. The route is well over 200 miles long and some twisty bits planned so early breakfast and on the road. Weather looking a bit damp but I'm sure once overy the hill it will brighten up some.

  17. Today we travelled from Spain to France over the piranees, we started with cloud then sunshine then rain then lightning, some glorious roads. So for tomorrow we travel from France to Spain back over the Pyrenees to Barcelona :-) they say a picture paints a thousand words but you need to see the Piranees to really appreciate it ..

  20. I guess the pillar mount has been the same for a while. In which case you will find its a countersunk head bolt, needing an Allen key on the outside, and a M6 (10mm A/F) locknut (and washer) up inside the scuttle. You should be able to get your hand up under the scuttle and onto the nuts, be suprised if they are captive having looked at some of the older build manuals on line! If your car is anything like mine, you may find loosening the pillar mounting bolts will help to let you slide the screen out and in. Having first removed the wipers and fillet as Dave has highlighted previously.
