  1. Hello Just to let you all know that I have taken over the role of South West AO from @Darrell O'Neill who has held the position for a fair few years now. I'm sure you will all join me in saying a big thank you for his time in the role. This is the first time for me doing a role like this so I need to find my feet and get an idea of our members' locations so we can arrange a convenient place for meets or blats out (I'm in Camborne). I'm open to all suggestions that you might have for days out, meeting places etc. I'm also in touch with a couple of other local clubs to maybe arrange a joint meet up with other enthusiasts. I will keep you updated. So don't be shy come and say hello or feel free to PM me! I'm looking forward to meeting as many local members as I can , so let's see what we can make happen. Martin

  2. Is it just me or does everything come around to cars. Go to any building and there is always that glance upward followed by the thought that a four poster ramp would fit fine. A handsome stable block I see a four or five car garage. A long meandering drive to a fine house is a hillclimb track. A muddy lane an off road course or rally stage. On holiday the highlight is seeing an old odd car or trying to decide what the taxi your are in was before it was beaten up beyond recognition. My wife says I an addicted, she is usually right.

  3. Time for a gentle reminder about the meet Sunday week, from a beach in St Lucia. Just quickly checked the forecast up to next Thursday and it's sunny, average 30 degrees, with just the occasional tropical shower, so every chance we can bring the Westfields! Usual 12.00 at The Lodge. See you there.

  12. I have a Q (deliberate choice at IVA) with a brand new (crate) Zetec. Emissions will not be an issue. So yes a Q with a newer engine is fine on emissions test at MOT time although must pass emissions at IVA.

  14. Have a 5 Speed type 9 with Tran X uprated gears, long first gear etc. Has been pedalled by Tim Nunn though in a previous life so absolutely no guarantees given In all seriousness though it has just been rebuilt as was going to be used for a duratec car, but customer has since go to a 60G.

  18. Hiya I could possibly sort this out for you. I own a sign company that has metal fabricating facilities and keep Aluminium sheet in stock at 1.5mm and 3mm thick. PM me if you would like a price.

  20. It's easy enough to make, which is what most people have done. There was a "centre console" available from the factory once, but I've only ever seen a tiny number of them out and about. The easiest way would be to get some aluminum sheet, cut it to the right shape, and then fold two ends back to act as the sides of the console. You could then either paint or wrap the console to give whatever finish you wanted. Alternatively, you could make one out of three pieces of marine ply, and then vinyl, or carpet wrap. i cut and folded mine, but made the sides shorter, as they were just there to give me something to fit plywood sides to. And with the heater controls and charger socket fitted. I then made some plywood side panels. And finally covered the aluminum with vinyl over a thin layer of foam padding, and added carpet over the wooden sides. And finally, fitted. But you could use carbon fiber wrap, if you wanted a more modern look. It's really just down to your imagination.

  21. I was hoping to construct something like in the picture below to mount the sockets in it.

  27. For blade refills, don't buy the standard ones. Just do the adaption so that aftermarket universal refills fit. The universals are much cheaper, and available everywhere. Westfields have a habit of shredding the wiper rubbers every so often, makes life much easier if you can just dive into a Halfords etc to replace them. The mod only takes a couple of minutes per wiper arm, and is litterally just a case of filing one end of each arm down a little with a small file, so that the bayonet clips will slot home. Interestingly, since swapping to plain old Halfords universal refills I've also found they've lasted way longer than Tex originals.
