  1. I do this with SKCC every year. Used the car transporter train, sent cars ahead on a lorry and flew down. Mostly we drive there via the Black forest, Vosges mountains. Its a full on driving trip, on the road by 7am , I'm sure I could share the ITN files. Video of a previous trip.

  2. We decided to head back Wednesday as the weather was changing. The rest will have to wait for a while. We left St Austell to Dartmoor on the A390 to Tavistock, Two Bridges and Moretonhamstead as recommended by another member so thanks for that. Unfortunatly the fog was in and visibility was 10m at best sometimes. There was also the added danger of sheep that were lying in the road and even an air horn didn't move them. We then jumped on the M5 by Exeter for the trip back to Brum as we were between 2 weather systems heading north and the speed of the motorway keep us between them and dry ish

  3. To answer your question from another thread, there's no need to worry, it's already too late for you. This just confirms you're the right man for the chairman's job.

  4. Erm, @Ali and Gail did you say that our pictures were making you tired? really? have you looked back at your pictures, I am exhausted It's a bit of a rubbish word this 'thank you' but on behalf of the club can I thank you for taking the time to put all these wonderful pictures on, it is very selfless of you both.

  5. @CosKevis spot-on. The main area of leaks tend to be at the joints, unless you're very unlucky to have suffered physical damage to the lines. it's very easy to top up the reservoir, even easier with a small funnel or the wife's turkey baster. it's also very easy to check your disk thicknesses once a wheel is off. if in doubt, post a picture of your disks edges, as viewed through the caliper.

  6. I think the FW looks fantastic, not like a seven copy. Each to their own.

  7. What a nice tidy looking car. Ģreen isn't my colour but that looks smart. Ģood luck with the sale.

  8. Just an update, after a telephone conversation and an exchange of emails I have just ordered a set of leads from afitchett@hotmail.com who trades on eBay as Mr retro plug leads. The total cost delivered, made in high grade 8mm yellow cable to my specifications of length, terminal type and angles was £35. I will post a picture and my thoughts when they arrive.

  9. We used this company for the 2013 trip to the Alps. http://www.transcars.com/ We had the full lorry, 8 cars. They picked them up from a central point (we helped load) and met us at Munich airport, then again a week later at Nice airport for the return. Total cost was £550 per car, we flew Easyjet (yes that is an FW 400) Kenton

  11. Turn petrol into noise... I have just been out for his first post resurrection, summer evening, local village blat and it was great. Nothing obscene, just a few nicely timed blips from 3rd to 2nd (now he's got a 2nd) when in ear shot of the local pubs. And nothing back except approving waves and smiles. If God created a better way to convert hydrocarbons into noise than a Xflow with Webers, I've yet to find it... I am now going to petition for electric vehicals to be mandatory, anything to make the remaining petrol last longer so immature middle aged men can explode it...

  12. Advertising on behalf of a friend. For sale my 1800 Zetec engined Westfield SEIW. Car was completed an registered on age related plate in July 2015. Mileage covered since completion is a little over 1200 (yes only 1200) Has been a joy to own and drives very well. Finished in dark British racing green with yellow vinyl on nose. Spec as follows, 1800cc ford zetec engine running fuel injection and throttle bodies, megasquirt management fitted, stainless exhaust and four branch manifold fitted, mt75 five speed gearbox, limited slip differential to rear. Adjustable shock absorbers fitted all round, Disc brakes all round, five matching wheels and tyres (like new). Momo steering wheel, stainless mesh grille fitted, daytime running lights. New Westfield half hood and side screens fitted last winter. New project forces reluctant sale. Folder full of receipts and paperwork included in sale. Priced to sell. £9950 Any questions please ask. 13. Is it just me that doesn't like the new FW rear body? The nose I could live with, I think, although bonnet opening would possibly drive me mad, but the rear just does nothing for me and the roof on the FW bodywork just looks rubbish to me. This is beginning to cause me a little concern, as most of the cars I see that have the spec I would prefer look great, right up until I see the rear end. I could, of course fork out to build one with the nice rear on, but if the new bodywork is what people want then it could cause an issue if/when I try to sell.

  15. Wow Kenton, your MegaBlat 2015 vid is utterly fantastic. Has to be the best '7' driving movie I've seen. The driving and roads and the way it's all been edited together is tremendous. I did a driving trip last October in a tintop over several of the same passes, particularly Stelvio with a bunch of Porsches, so can relate. Thoroughly recommend to anyone planning the same.

  16. I like the classic look myself and think it is very distinctively Westfield. The FW looks great too but very happy with my chunky behind!

  18. The other thing you should check or get checked is the thickness of the disc brake pads. The fluid level will go down as they wear and you don't want to be running out of disc pads.

  19. Clearly personal taste as demonstrated above. TBH I was about to buy a Caterham until I saw the FW rear end on a Westfield. It's such an improved departure from the normal 7-esk rears that I was smitten. So, that rear potentially saved me a small fortune...!

  25. There's no such thing as a Noddy question Vorley; with apologies to Bioman, for you it's a swap with no benefit, if there's no mechanical issues with your current engine. (ie you don't have to find another engine.) As Wilfman said, it's not quite such a direct swap, plus there's the expense of new clutches, changing exhaust, which as it's on a different side of the car would need to be a complete system, then there's the holes it would leave in your existing bodywork... The CVH above is a cracking engine though, just no real benefit for you in this instance.

  26. We'd love to see photos of the new car! You'll need to host them somewhere on-line, and then insert a link into your posts, it's not too complicated! Of course, one of the benefits of becoming a full member of the WSCC is that the club actually provides you with storage space for photos on the Boardroom, and loading them in here is sooooo easy, especially from a phone or tablet! Plus various companies offer discounts to members, specially off your insurance. We're very good value

  28. Nice car dude it and welcome. Spent my time messing about in turbo Jap and German stuff. Who'd of thought a bit of box section, a sprinkling of cortina and the heart of a Mondeo could be more fun!

  29. As Adam said There's a lot to like about predictability and progressive handling of a slightly harder tyre. And definitely the best route to learning to drive hard. My early years of Westfielding were on Toyo T1R's and I don't regret any of them. And I am sure I can drive the R1Rs (and Sprint soft ZZRs) harder because of it.

  30. Left-field vote: good quality road tyres, such as Michelin Pilot Sports, Continental Premium Contact, etc. I've recently fitted a set of Conti Eco Contact 3s to my car and loving them. Plenty of grip (only around 2.5s a lap slower round Blyton than 888s), more comfortable, cheaper, better in the rain, more progressive when they do let go. Lots of benefits...

  32. It's not really surprising, the tories have hardly been subtle about their desires to privatise the health service, they're just doing it insidiously by slowly defunding it so people think privatisation is the only way to fix it, when in reality that gets you the immoral mess they have in America. My favourite statistic after the election was that the £1.5b DUP deal could have paid for 1200 doctors for a decade. I would gladly pay more taxes if I knew it was going to pay for doctors, nurses, firemen, policemen, teachers... I'm not currently in need of surgery, my house isn't on fire, I'm not currently being robbed, I don't have kids, but if any of those circumstances change I'd be glad to have public services we can rely on and be proud of.

  33. Why is it low is the first thing to ask. Brakes worn ? Fluid leak ? Would check its none of those before putting more in.
