Just ordered a new carbon fibre aeroscreen from Carbon-NV and stumbled across a great website for sourcing fixings, nuts and bolts etc Ordered a set of cross drilled titanium nuts, bolts and washers - not exactly cheaper but absolute wonderful quality and satisfy by inner geekiness - can see me starting to go through the car and replacing all that is visible - will not be cheap but oh the joy of everything being this kind of quality www.pro-bolt.com2 points

They look really smart. Who's are they ? I would also massively key the carbon and fibre glass over the top of the bars too, to prevent 'lift off'1 point

Titanium in a V8 engined car, isn't there a touch of irony there? Now I used to build high end road bicycles as a side-line, every gram counted to get down to what was then the holy grail of 16lb all up weight, people paid more for less! I even used to tell people they'll be faster by losing weight off them, but unfortunately blinging it with carbon and titanium at the coffee stop whilst shovelling cake down their gullets was more important, but hey if that what you want to spend your money on go for it !1 point

Ok booked for the 5 of us for a meal at 7pm and 3 vans overnight in the car park1 point

Yes, mine too but smaller displacement than yours. Too long and tall for a Westfield sadly. Lovely sound though. I retrofitted cruise to mine - easy as it's fly-by-wire. Yours is FBW too I should think.1 point

Huge respect for the car, but I reckon the looks are in the same camp as the UR Quattro, they have got a bit of the Stallone / Heston chin going on... Personally I love them, but we all know Deanspoors is after a cute little Italian number, little black dress and all...1 point

Put around 10k on mine since registered in July 2015 - so an average of 5k per year which is what I used to do when I rode bikes.1 point

One word of caution for those doing long distance touring that use softer/sticky trackday tyres like R888R's, Yokohama AO48's etc; it's not a problem necessarily if you're just bimbling along, but I know of a few (Caterham) owners who've got caught out doing the European Alpine Pass tours, where you're driving quite briskly on the passes and easily racking up a journey of a few thousand miles. They've litterally hit the tread wear limits whilst up in the mountains, and been stuck with illegally "bald" tyres, in both the cases that I'm aware of, they ended up having to get tyres shipped to the nearest garage and had to get them change over locally before they could carry on!! So if using semi slicks on a long distance trip, where you know there will be some aggressive driving, do please make sure you've got plenty of life in them before you set out.1 point

Cheers I think Garry and Derek are unavailable for Hethel, prior engagements. Pete normal drives up on the morning of the event, so parking might not be at full capacity at the pub!1 point

Did you manage to get to the theatre. I have been to the Eden Project a few times but never been to the Lost Gardens. Do you have any more pictures of the Lost Gardens that you can post up.1 point

I'm hoping that my very late 2.2 Z3 (45k miles) will appreciate. Also a straight six and smooth as silk. But the obvious target must be a Z3M Coupé breadvan. They are really going up in leaps and bounds. Some things to be aware of - boot floor failure through the huge torque, and vanos problems on S50 engines. Get an S54 and it'll be beautiful.1 point

Does it have to come off the shelf pretty or would you be prepared to spend £10k on the car and £20k to £30k on a restoration? And the Alfa is pretty, but IMHO to different from original to interest the real collectors and perhaps you would have trouble shifting it on. And does it need to use all the budget? Was wondering about a Capri 2.8i Or for a lot more beans, Audi Ur Quattro...1 point

Welcome to a new section of the Boardroom! This is the Touring equivalent of the Trackday section; somewhere to tell everyone about the adventures we've had, exploring with our Westfields, recommend places to visit, discus what gear to take etc. We especially love to see photos and links to video in this thread, it really brings those trips to life and inspires the rest of us. Note, every member is free to add posts about upcoming trips and motoring holidays in here. We have made this a section for paid up members only though, so be reassured when recommending those hidden gems and off the beaten track places, only fully paid up, current fellow club members can see them. While this section isn't really for technical questions, it is a place to ask about and discus what sort of tools/spares people carry on tours, argue over the finer merits of different dry bags etc. Lets share that knowledge and improve everyone's trips!1 point

It's a shame Carbon Mods have packed up IMO. They did some Dax pattern ones which were very shallow and followed the curve of the tyre very closely.1 point

When you say "side screens" do you mean the polycarbonate deflector ones or the full "door"? I know @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AO swears by half door deflector combo (with half hood)1 point
