Well Blyton 2017 hasn't even finished and I have just booked for 6th/7th/8th July 2018! but I do need a few weeks off to refocus. cheers Panda9 points

I was in Richer Sounds Cheltenham on Saturday giving them even more of my money and I noticed Paul talking to an old boy and when I say old, easily in his 90's and frail as anything. From ear wigging, it sounded like the old boy was looking for a new remote for a TV or something like that. Which RS did not stock. First off they had found him a chair to sit on and even though it was Saturday lunchtime and busy as hell, Paul was offering to go down the road to Maplins and buy him the gadget. So its a busy day, the old boy is looking to spend £20 and will not be dropping thousands in the future but the staff are still prepared to go to another shop and get him what he needs. bl**** outstanding and that's why even if I can save a few quid by getting a new toy from the interweb, I would rather keep shops like RS in business..! Well what a fantastic weekend that was I made it 37 members of the speed series entered and took part in a very successful weekend of fast racing and great weather with BBQ, food and booze thrown in with lots of banter What more could you want?6 points

This might be a bit of a sore subject, but I never actually got a photo of Dave's car, it went a bit quick and that was it, done and parked up, oops. The good news is though that I managed a few snaps of the other cars. Stephen's 11 looking very stunningly beautiful. Simon's Westfield, below, is 30 years old, so if you are like me and wondering about the longevity of your car, don't worry, it could possibly out live you. By the size of the smile on his face I think it is safe to say that he is enjoying his first ever entry into the Speed Series. If you want to have a go at entering the Speed Series this car is up for sale, £5500, it lives only a few miles away from Blyton. What are you waiting for? Yet another brilliant day out for the spectators. Our friendly Speed Series were as welcoming as ever and Blyton is always a great little venue. Thank you all5 points

Great run out today and the rain stayed off until the very last leg home so cannae complain! Big thanks to all for making the effort to come along and good to see another new face, Ian (flyflashone) and his son, and a (very) old face in Alastair (theprisoner thepensioner), dusting off the Sylva J15 for a run with his auld Clan mates! Thanks to Brian (H.7) for keeping us right with directions, and John (Hornet600) should put his satnav back in the drawer! Wee excursion into Engerland with a pistop in Berwick to claim it back for the Scots and then up to Eyemouth for the fab chippy. You can't beat eating a chippy under the cover of the old fish market shed!4 points

Hi Guys First of all a big thanks to Robin for organising this (I think he remembers how peed of I was last year at the 25 year rule!). It was great to meet up with the new faces such as Andy and Derek :-) and Debs and Craig who we have met before. It's the first car show I've been to where I haven't seen all the cars because we were too busy talking. A cracking afternoon and Evening and well done for Wakefield as well, long may it continue. Well done John. It was a cracking weekend and I'd like to think next year will be even better with everyone's support. You all have nearly a years notice so no excuses. Get it in your diaries, book the time off, come and have a go on track, come and help out, come and spectate, come to the meal, come the BBQ social! There really is so much to do and enjoy...3 points

..sort of like a government Cobra meeting? .. looking into the Westfield fuel tank's inability to contain fuel there in..2 points

Another cracking Blyton weekend! Apart from the fuel spillages getting me black flagged, I suffered from fuel starvation after any long left handers (not helped by it pouring out I guess!) so next task is to fit a swirl pot. I may have mentioned this fact once or twice to those who would listen while sharing beers later Apologies for heading off early but just had to go home to meet my brand new Grandson2 points

Had a brilliant day today in glorious sunshine. Had breakfast in a cafe at the head of Driffield canal to begin with. A load of scooters arrived and they waited outside the cafe and a number of them kept coming into the cafe and asking to use the toilet, and not one of them bought anything. I thought that was a bit bad. Next stop was Fimber Halt and this is a disused railway station and goods yard. You can get a cup of tea here and there are toilets and plenty of parking. Then over to Kirkham Abbey and we had a mooch around the river. Spent a while watching dragonflies chasing each other by a weir. Next it was Castle Howard, Ampleforth, Byland Abbey and then we called in at the Yorkshire Gliding Club for coffee and cake and to watch the gliders for an hour. We even spotted an aero-screened glider. In Helmsley we spotted a well know red Westfield that seems to be following me all over the country. perhaps I have an admirer. Then over onto the moors on brilliant single track roads and headed to Rosedale Chimney. Saw plenty of feral goats. Grosmont was next on the agenda and did hope to see steam trains but unfortunately the station was empty. Whitby, Sandsend and Scarborough followed and then home. It has been a great day and here are a few pictures for you.2 points

Well after much deliberation and with a heavy heart, the time has come to admit I have lost my mojo and as a result, the car can finally go up for sale. And I mean it this time! I did the trackday at blyton on Friday and enjoyed myself, but the effort to get there is much greater than the pleasure I get from driving. So, westfield sei wide circa 2004 with the following spec Carbon panels with the exception of the floor Super light weight bodywork, with detachable rear arches all fitted such that it can be stripped off the car in less than 10 minutes. Safety Devices full cage (not thought to be msa compliant, but having seen some of the stuff that plays on the hills and sprints I doubt that scrutineers would notice!) Grp drivers seat with bulkhead restraint, carbon low back passengers seat Momo steering wheel Aim mycron gold LCD dash and data logger Geartronics gear indicator Bespoke dash panel X16xe Vauxhall engine giving 214 bhp on nms rollers, forged pistons steel rods head ported by Guy Croft, SBD cams, valve springs, followers verniers, Pace dry sump kit with bespoke high capacity tank SBD 4 throttle injection kit, with ITG filter All fuel lines in aeroquip and aluminium tube Sprint fuel tank and auxiliary track day tank High capacity pump and filter Small alternator run from same belt as dry sump system Ducted radiator (carbon) Helix 7.25 organic clutch with hydraulic operation Elite 5 speed sequential gearbox 3.92 LSD diff recently rebuilt Force racing wheels and kumho tyres Bespoke light weight wiring harness with mini fuses and relays DTA P8 Pro ECU with traction and launch control, all wheels have speed sensors Wunoff exhaust silencer on modified tle manifold Wilwood front brakes, antiroll bars at both ends Protec double adjustable dampers all round Quick rack Road legal, and will be sold with 12 months Mot. It's a reluctant sale, as I know once it's gone I will want another one just like it! Drop me your email if you want images and a video of the body being put on the car It is really a sprint car, it's geared for sprints rather than hills, but a diff change transforms that, and with the size of the fuel tank it really isn't a road car or distance racer. Looking for £13500, but in no hurry to sell, and I think i can split the car and get this so not much room for negotiating. Tel Paul 07973 5047851 point

It was cylinder 1, the one closest to the front of the engine. Yes, I've said it before a few times, but the being a member of this club makes me very proud. Without the club, I'd be... well, goodness knows where I'd be...1 point

Hopefully I can make this, even more hopefully I can make it in the Westy Will confirm in the days before Cheers, Brian1 point

Which piston was it on? Glad it had been found and you can get on with the rebuild. The amazing thing is that was diagnosed by fellow members just from a video1 point

Yep, the steep hill you mentioned is the Cwmystwyth mountain road out of Rhayader, leads across to the lead mines as mentioned and follows the river Ystwyth through Pontrhydygroes towards the coast south of Aber, great roads, but you need to include the Elan valley loop which is spectacular, did it myself today, fantastic! This was my first Blyton track day and weekend and I had a great time. Thoroughly enjoyed the driving, much thanks to Adam for the instruction and guidance - really helped a lot. Bbq was great on Sat eve and the meal with everyone on the Friday also Thanks to Panda for organising and I will be back next year to help out more.1 point

...and don't forget, you're not limited to one meet venue, the club isn't set up like that, everyone is more than welcome to visit as many other Area Meets and events as they fancy! In fact we positively encourage it, with combined events and so on. Though it does always tickle me when you arrive early at a meet, before too many have arrived, and find the Area Organiser to member ratio 1:1 or better! (We do like getting out and about too!!)1 point

Fimber Halt is a great little stop if you want toilets and a cup tea. Its all in woodland and everyone is always friendly. There is a little cafe but it does not do hot food. It has a great supply of cakes and pies etc. Plenty of free parking and if you like to see motorbikes then there are usually plenty to see. It is the site of the old railway and across the road there is the Yorkshire Wolds Railway. They have a 300' length of track and they often run a diesel locomotive and it gives cab rides for £1.50. Here is a link about the place with some nice history. http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/s/sledmere_fimber/ http://www.visithullandeastyorkshire.com/Driffield-Yorkshire-Wolds-Railway/details/?dms=3&venue=20524801 point

I've got to echo the sentiment, well done Robin, it was good to see a group of Westie's - hopefully this has raised the profile of the club. I was surprised how big the event is, 100's of car exhibiting and it was free to get in! I managed to hobble around on my crutches and ii was good to see some other friends there with their family Rolls, I managed to blag a chair and beer - much appreciated!! Just waiting to be picked up, going to Blyton to see the Sprint I should have been doing1 point

I'll see you at the A1/A720 Services, Westy's still off the road, though, so I'll be in my other V8 Cheers, Brian1 point

Welcome back Tom. Rickwood Cars in Chorleywood are very good with Sevens and Classics. I used them previously when I had a '72 Lotus Elan and they were superb. Springwood Garage, Heronsgate Road, Chorleywood WD3 5BN. 01923 283675 As for local meetings, I've been heading up to the Herts Beds & Bucks meetings near Leighton Buzzard. Almost equally close would be the Thames Valley area, or the North London area, but so far I've not managed to get along to their meetings. Martin.1 point

Hi, welcome back into the Westfield fold. Trackday Toyz at Uffington near Faringdon in Oxfordshire, though not absolutely on your doorstep are not a million miles away. They did a few pre IVA items for me on my XI - good job done and reasonably priced. Steve and Lee run the business and are very kit car minded. Sorted I got myself a 90degree chuck adapter for battery drill and opened out the hole in the centre to 6mm in 1mm increments taking care not to drill right out the back of the thread. Bought a set of screw/bolt extractors and gradually wound it in until it hit the back of the thread which I had left in. Now I had created a good grip for the extractor I took it back out and gave a 2-3 minute Heat cycle with blow a torch then wound the extractor back in. Now was the dreaded bit, kept applying more and more pressure with the ratchet until bingo, the sender threat started to come out, PHEW! NEXT step was to give the engine a short turnover, just enough for it to squirt a small amount of oil from the hole to clear any debris that may have been there. I shone a torch into the hole prior to this and to be fair i couldnt see any swarf from the drilling anyway. Now just got to wait for the replacement sender to come on Monday.1 point

My brother-in-law and I had an enjoyable morning session especially him managing to spin right in front of me - IN MY CAR! Due to an oil leak I pulled the afternoon session, after getting home i identified the oil as gearbox, although at Blyton it looked like engine oil, so it looks like the slight weep past the input shaft seal has become a bit more serious especially when the box is hot. So to sum up, a fantastic morning of being a mobile chicane, but an early bath! @John Williams - WSCC Competition Secretary Many thanks Ian1 point

Good turnout last night including a few new faces. Sorry not to see @6carjon, @BillyPee or @1960dave The evening was even more special as several of us got to take a Tesla Model X P90D for a run in Ludicrous mode and it is! Even @6carjon may have had to work hard to keep up with it! Shame the nice Tesla sales man had come along to talk to the Ferarri club who we share the carpark with on Summer nights. They didn't seem to interested. We kept him busy though!
