  1. had a lovely day today and unfortunately its our last day as we go home tomorrow. Had a drive down the "rural" side of Loch Tay looking for red squirrels then it was time to stop in Aberfeldy to pick up cakes as a treat for later on. Then headed over to Pitlochry which is a one stop, shopping mecca for rich tourists. On we went to Tummel Bridge which has the most lovely power station at the side of the road, and is in the middle of no-where. We had an Indiana Jones moment at a suspension bridge where we stopped to look for salmon. From here we headed over on some of my favourite roads to Ben Lawers Dam via Bridge of Balgie. If you like views and twisty roads at 20mph then this is the road for you. We stopped at the dam for our cakes and then headed over to the Mc-Nab burial ground where the clan chiefs are buried. The magic has gone from the place now and the landscapers have really opened up the island and it does not have the same aire of mystery about it. As I type this, my bedroom window is open, the sun is shining and I am sat listening and looking at the waterfalls. I really don't want to go home.

  2. What a lovely way to wake up. Slept in a super comfortable four poster bed and this is the view a couple of minutes ago from my bedroom window. The waterfalls are magnificent.

  3. Geoff as a spare you can use a rear gear inner cable from a mountain bike, just check you have a. The cable at the pedal has a cable clamp. You can use an electrical choc block connector, chop one section off, peel off the plastic leaving two brass screw clamps. Then feed the cable in from the engine end, let the pedal be at its highest point, pull cable tight making sure it's seated everywhere properly and clamp off at the pedal. Keep a spare cable and brass clamp in a tin with fuses and bulbs, tape the tins edges with electrian tape which can double as a wire insulation if needed (thumbs up)

  6. Yes, but not the one this year TBH there's not much left to do on the first car now, a few brackets here and there and thats about it. The car will be going to the Fordham car show again this year in August after which it will be fully stripped down. The parts which aren't already plated will be sent away for a polish and nickel plating, there's a bit of welding to do on the chassis which can only be done with the body off, then there's the chassis to enamel paint before final assembly. I'd like to think all the above will be done by early next year. That way I'll be able to use the first half of the year for testing, probably at Gosfield and to get it log booked.

  10. Not entirely sure why you guys are moaning about an event that is not compulsory and you have chosen not to enter?! It's a little like me going on the London Marathon website and saying it's a load of rubbish, I'm not entering that, it's 26 miles of running.

  16. If I was ordering a Mustang engine for $8000 I think I might go for one with rather more cylinders!

  22. Thoughts and condolences are with all of those caught up in in the latest incident in London. It's with a heavy heart I suspect these things are rapidly becoming a way of life. 2 things do spring to mind... I wish the media would stop saying "6 people lost their lives", 3 people lost their lives, 3 others were just evil and copped what they deserved. IMHO do not group them to together And 8 minutes to end it - good and its obvious the orders are out to end it as soon as. Sends a powerful message, but not sure others will be open to hearing it. Why can't we just live and let live, the world is a big enough place. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a pacifist, I am happy to live without a single 'ism' until somebody crosses a line, then in my view, they are fair game and should experience all they have coming to them. Speedy recovery to all those who are able to recover...

  24. May need to be flexible depending on 'enemy' occupation! 1 plan was to be Hurd'ed into a 'cordonned off by first arrivers' area near to hookup pitches which @Paul Hurdsfield and other tin sheders will be using! So Large whip flagging a must for congregating. I'll bring Mancs as well. I'm aiming to arrive Thursday too (although possibly late), as is my Sister who'll be joining the amassed WSCCers in her camper. We could do with a list of all Campers (& if sm tent/ lg tent/camper/tin shed) so we can try and commandeer a large enough area.

  25. I totally agree that a double lapper or figure of 8 is more enjoyable to drive, but given the choice of a single lapper or nothing I thought I'd go for a single lap pootle around.

  26. I love Curborough but single laps are less appealing than figure of 8s and double lappers these days. Having sad that, I'm entering a single lapper later in the year

  32. Thanks for the advice on the throttle cable @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AO @tex We passed the signs for first and second coast and will definitely have a look next time. We did see a seal on Orkney as he was sat out of the water for hours. Would love too have seen a colony. I didn't see much of the Lecht as it was pouring down but have done it before. I did see a herd of deer though which was brilliant. We need to get our dates correct next year.

  33. @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AO Glen says your throttle cable might be too tight. Exactly the same thing happened to Trevor when we were at Blyton, I hope it is that because it is an easy fix. Chin up @Ali Jones suns out tomorrow

  34. I guess your caution is down to how they are installed. Some people have proper manifolds made and fuel rails, throttle linkages etc.If so then they are as above and fine. However there are some less than perfect installs. You will need to look at the overall build and each on it's merits. However it's fair to say they are more variable than off the shelf car throttle bodies.

  38. Today was some what of a challenge. We had stopped over night at Aviemore so we could do the Fenicular railway this morning however there was no point with such low cloud and mist. We decided we would try going through the Cairngorns to get to Killin and only stop and go back if weather conditions got to bad, they did but we pressed on all be it very very wet and very slowly at times. It's not a great distance but it took nearly 6 hours because of the conditions. We went via Spey Bridge, Tomitoul, dangler Bridge, Braemar, Pitlochry, Aberfeldy and finally Killin. I am sure the views and scenery are stunning but it wasn't to be today. These only a few pics as today wasn't photo weather.

  39. Bike carbs, especially later Jap ones in themselves are very reliable. I think people go bike carb route as they can be great value compared to a set of Jenveys or Omex. Don't think they need any more tinkering than other throttle bodies, but happy to be corrected by someone who actually has them...!

  42. We should not put catch fencing or bollards on Londons bridges - it will solve nothing, they will simply target other places. We cannot ban vehicles or the sale of knives, this kind of incident is totally impossible to stop - its an irrational and hateful act that will sadly happen again. The scum who committed these acts should have no Muslim funeral, bodies not returned to families, just disposed of in the cheapest way possible I do believe the PC brigade need to stamped down on and these evil losers should be stamped down on. If these losers were non UK nationals and they have family and associates who do not hold UK passports they should be deported - no right of appeal - GONE The 23,000 people with extreme views known about by the Security Services - those who do not hold a UK passport - deport them. Those who do hold a UK passport should be brought in and told - "Respect our culture, respect our freedoms or exercise your right to leave and live in a country whose way of life you do support" These people are irrational and do not give a damn about the rights of the people they attack, maim and kill - they therefore lose any rights that they once held I have friends and colleagues who are Muslim, Jewish, Catholic etc, we all get on well but we all respect each others beliefs and do not seek to impose our beliefs on each other Time to get tough in this country I'm afraid

  44. There's already a move to postpone the general election on the chattersphere. This would be admitting defeat IMHO, and life should carry on unchanged. In fact I deplore the 24 hour emotional feeding frenzy that the broadcast media churn out. Please don't think I am callous, I am certainly not and I have nothing but sympathy for the victims, but the bigger thing you make of it, the more hand rubbing glee is aroused in these evil people. Report it factually and that's it.
