  1. Today has been another great adventure. After the mammoth breakfast we headed out and the first stop was the Italian Chapel. We drove over three of the Churchill barriers and past some of the visible blockade ships that we placed there in the war. We arrived at the chapel just as a coach load of visitors arrived so we quickly ran in and took pictures before the place became full. The quality and standard of the place is unbelievable and you really cannot believe the walls are totally flat. From there we had a mooch around the island. We went to another graveyard and found two graves that had skull and crossbones on them and a shield. We cleaned them off but could not make out the writing. Then as we where leaving we spoke with a group of people and I ended up taking one daughter for a ride in Buttercup whilst Gail ended up taking the other daughter and also their mother for a ride....no need to guess weather they liked it or not. We continued exploring and went to a number of WW1 and WW2 gun emplacements and that was so interesting. As I now sit here I am trying to think of everything else but my mind has gone totally blank as we have done and seen so much.....we don't just drive round you know.....well we do but we cram so much in from morning until night. We went to the supermarket and as I type we are eating a seeded crusty loaf and tiger bread with best butter, Italian meats, cheese, salad, pate and a bottle of wine and we are watching the seals in the bay at our 1.0 clock, with a Churchill barrier and a blockade ship at our 10 o clock and at our 11 o clock is the Italian Chapel. The sun is on our backs and everything is just perfect.

  2. Thought I'd post a few pics from our Highland Tour. So far the weather has been great with a bit of rain today which was totally at odds with the dire forecast! happy days!

  3. There's already a move to postpone the general election on the chattersphere. This would be admitting defeat IMHO, and life should carry on unchanged. In fact I deplore the 24 hour emotional feeding frenzy that the broadcast media churn out. Please don't think I am callous, I am certainly not and I have nothing but sympathy for the victims, but the bigger thing you make of it, the more hand rubbing glee is aroused in these evil people. Report it factually and that's it.

  6. Thoughts and condolences are with all of those caught up in in the latest incident in London. It's with a heavy heart I suspect these things are rapidly becoming a way of life. 2 things do spring to mind... I wish the media would stop saying "6 people lost their lives", 3 people lost their lives, 3 others were just evil and copped what they deserved. IMHO do not group them to together And 8 minutes to end it - good and its obvious the orders are out to end it as soon as. Sends a powerful message, but not sure others will be open to hearing it. Why can't we just live and let live, the world is a big enough place. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a pacifist, I am happy to live without a single 'ism' until somebody crosses a line, then in my view, they are fair game and should experience all they have coming to them. Speedy recovery to all those who are able to recover...

  8. It did not stop us going out today,we went to the O2 at Greenwich and over to Canary Wharf for something to eat. Yesterday I was at London Bridge and Borough High Street. Do not bow down to these scum.

  9. These people are beyond rational thought. Asking them to have a chat , isn't going to make a jot of difference. They are hell bent ( good words) on their supposed martyrdom and have no other thought in their heads. Shoot to kill , as done last night is quick and cures the evil on the spot.It may give them their martyrdom, but it means we dont have the scum in our system to feed and water for the rest of their days. It will be interesting on who they were and also if they were known to the police. This has to stop and hopefully , although not at all easy to do, they will be infiltrated and terminated. I want to vote this week and will be voting. it is my way of showing unity with the whole of the UK in showing my hatred to people who dont believe in our way of life and freedom we have. I am watching the Manchester event tonight and seeing people singing along and enjoying the evening just shows how united the country is.

  10. Hear hear. And youve got pillocks like Corbyn saying he doesnt agree with the shoot to kill policy. Best to ask them to stop being naughty and put the knives down and play nice. Hope the prime minister sticks by her words. Enough is enough.

  13. Sorry for getting angry at a fairly grim time but the BBC have just done it again... Jane Hill just said - "People have been bringing flowers to commemorate the SEVEN people who died" I'm fairly sure it's to commemorate the FOUR innocent souls who were the victims.

  14. I wish I had taken a picture of my breakfast. I have never, ever seen so much food. Everyone is complaining about the amount on the plates as each plate would feed at least 3. Gail and Ali saw my breakfast and they asked for small portions....OMG you should see their plates. Food is cooked really clean and is all fresh but there is so much....its like looking at Ben Nevis on your plate. I will look like Ali by the end of the trip.

  15. Woke up at 3.00am to full sunshine. It was amazing. The room I am in has full width windows and I am overlooking a large bay of water that is about 20 feet away. The water is light grey in colour but is as flat as a pancake. its is absolutely beautiful and I feel so, so relaxed. I invite the hotel owner to come out with us today and she said she would ,love to but our rooms wouldn't get cleaned. You can guess what we all said.......so......we have our own personal guide today. The island is not pretty as in massive hills and trees etc but there is something special about being here. I cannot put my finger on it other than to say....its a feeling...... I am so pleased to be here.

  17. If I've learnt anything so far on this trip it's that when things go wrong as they have on this trip and despite the fact until a few days ago we were all strangers @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AO @ziplob @Garyt there is an unusual bond and when it all went Pete Tong we stuck together and sorted things. Maybe it's because we are all nuts with our preferred hobby! and it attracts our type of person. Its great to see this sort of humanity still exists when so much of the world is screwed up. 18. If you are thinking of going tomorrow then do. Its a great day out and its free...A few pictures from today. Its V12 and old school and really loud.. It will never catch on.... Its a machine for making black stripes. The track, how cool is that. For those who don't know that is Loris Capirossi 990 Moto GP bike. Its really loud and used to watch them race but nothing prepares you to the sound of one three feet away and when it goes through the tunnel. A bit of wee came out. One for the bike fans. When was the last time you saw on of those. City centre Live music through out the day. Oopps, how did that get there..

  23. Today we went to the Italian Chapel. This was built by the Italian prisoners of war. Everything you see on the walls and ceilings is painted flat on the wall. The lights that are hanging from the ceilings are made from corned beef tins. The font is made from the spring from a dumper track and the font actually moves from side to side. The statue of George and the Dragon is made from a skeleton of barbed wire. The place is absolutely beautiful.

  28. Oh yes, a day full of cars, cake and silliness. Both Martyn and Sue pointed out where the sex shop was, very close to when they pointed out where they live, actually We parked up at Middleton Hall, flags a flying, and within a few minutes Kevin arrived and parked with us. We went for breakfast butties and coffee before taking off to look around the cars. Martyn dived off to talk to the other 2 Westfield owners that arrived separately, and that live locally, both of which said would come to the Curborough Breakfast Meet next Saturday, so well done Martyn. After a quick visit into the Hall we headed off for cake lunch at Fradley Junction canal cafe After a great day out we headed back up through the Peak District, while Martyn and Sue set off West to the black country meet. I hope they encountered all the lovely sunshine that we did on the way home. We were expecting to have to put the roof on, but the skies cleared and it was warm and sunny.

  31. No worries, both are top quality.... And glad you went for things with a replacement powerpack Important things are: 1, Did you spend way more than you originally wanted to? 2, Can you get carbon bits for it?

  32. Yeah, I've had the Series sat on the Sky box for a rainy day for a couple of years now. Don't get your hopes up for any more "is borns", but from teasers on Mark Evans' Facebook page, it looks like we might be getting another special on Jaguar some time in the hopefully not too distant future. Speculation was on a C or a D Type last time I looked...

  34. A friend of mine, a few years back, had been rabiting on for ages about another mate of his who had a tuned GTR, (and who I know, not well, but I know), Martyn and this other lad played golf together regularly and the other lad used to drive them to whatever course they were playing, in the GTR, Martyn used to say he had the g meters displayed all the time, and was regularly trying to pull big numbers on them. One day when Martyn and I had caught up for a while, we arranged to go for lunch at a pub, out in the wilds of Cheshire and as it was a nice day, Martyn suggested we went in my Westfield at the time, an XE powered car. As he'd never been in it before, I short shifted and kept everything quite tame, but as I knew he was used to being hooned round in a GTR, I didn't go too sedately. when we got to the pub, I had to give Martyn a few minutes to gather himself, before he could climb out! After calming his nerves in the pub, he said he'd never been in anything that felt as remotely raw fast as a quick Westfield, even the Nissan, though insanely fast, and way quicker, just didn't have that wild, raw feel to it. We've got a better idea of what you're looking at now, but really, really, if you've not been in one, try and grab some passenger seat time in the sort of Westfield you describe before parting with cash. If you like it, not much else will give you the buzz for the money, on four wheels. But if you don't, and more people don't, you'll find it way too brutal, too much of the time. (And I readily admit, I'm in the former camp, but there are good reasons why so many threads are full of people saying around 180 bhp is a good figure for a Seven).

  37. Sorry, John; went to my friends at TFD in Uttoxeter this morning. They are dealers in both Bosch and Makita. Ended up spending much more money than I first had in mind. Bought a combi set, ie 2 drivers, one is a drill/screwdriver/hammer driver, and the other is an impact driver (so I can now change wheels on an F1 car!!), all in a box, with 2 battery packs and a charger. I went for the Makita rather than the Bosch simply on feel and looks, coupled with my experience of the mains drill which I purchased early in my XI build programme. The chap I spoke to at TFD assured me there was nothing to choose between them so far as he was concerned, and the prices were, on a like for like basis, similar. So now I''m about £125 poorer than I thought I was going to be, all because of you chaps urging me to spend more than I had in mind!

  40. Many thanks guys for a brilliant run with you all yesterday. It was great to meet old and new friends and I'm only sorry that I missed out on getting soaking wet with you all on the run between Ullapool and Durness. It didn't rain on our way home after we left you! A fantastic day all round and we did 330 miles door to door. Even losing my front cycle wing didn't spoil the day. Can't get Sunburst yellow anymore, so it looks like I'm going for black to replace them. Enjoy the rest of the trip. David
