  1. What another brilliant day. Met up once again with Bob and Lorna in Glencoe after breakfast and away we went. We went to the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge which is always a lovely place to visit. Lots of people talking about the cars with a few children sitting in them and having pictures taken. We then headed over towards the Skye ferry but because of the weather it was closed. We drove through a lot of rain today but it certainly did not spoil our fun. Its great that a bunch of like minded people, can be soaked through and drive through heavy rain with no roof or doors on and laugh, and laugh, and laugh even more about it. One car had no windscreen wipers as they broke and then a while later it was emergency repairs as his back wheel nearly fell off. Down into Portree we went and had some chips by the harbour and myself and Ali had an intimate encounter.......Well, he is a looker. By this time the sun came out so it was roof off time and we all headed towards out hotels. The one myself and Gary are in has a "rustic" nature but the people are so friendly. I invited the owners son with us tomorrow as he was so interested in the cars and he said yes, and he is looking forward to his day with us and he will be my passenger for the day. We had food in a great pub in Carbost where Lorna had these "things" that had massive legs and claws and eyes on. I swear when she was ripping them to pieces to eat that they where shouting....mummy. Tomorrow we are going round Skye and I would love to put up pictures for you but the internet is so slow here......Pictures to follow.

  2. Glad you're enjoying the trip and Glen Etive is beautiful. Great photos too. Warm and sunny forecast for tomorrow--lucky you. The biker you met will definitely get a westie when his biking days are over.

  3. I doubt it, it was 2 years ago and the seller is no longer a member, so unlikely to reply. Have to say, admire your tenacity though

  4. I really daren't think about what you've been making, but in this instance, please don't post photos! If it's half as bad as the ahem "gear lever extensions" stuck on James May's cars during the last Grand Tour, I really don't want to see your cage with homemade "female parts"

  6. The morning is grey at the moment with the mist in the air.Heading onto Skye today via the commando memorial and the little ferry boat. Dont care what the weather does as the day will be BRILLIANT anyway. Let's just hope that my mate "monster" gets his wipers working.

  8. The usual breakfast meet is at Curborough Sprint Course, Lichfield, Saturday 10th June, 8.30-11.30. There is a motorcycle sprint organised by National Hillclimb Association on track for you to watch, while eating your bacon sandwich and admiring the cars that will be there. For those that are not sure where it is, if you are travelling south on the A38, take the junction after the sex shop, easy peasy It is the GBS open day in Ollerton on the same day AND it is stage 4 of the womens tour cycling event in Chesterfield, which comes right past the end of our road. Glen seems keen to go and watch a lot of women in lycra, uh.

  9. from sunny Somerset. Good choice of car, but I'm biased! As for colour, guess you've got a bit of time to mull it over. I'm getting to sound like an old record, but any time you're at the factory, take as many detail photos of in build cars as you can, they will be invaluable Enjoy your build.

  10. I've sourced some new 54mm M16's. Will team them with some DS2500's then all will be good again!

  11. Tim's car is electric blue. Pics here, albeit without nosecone: I've just ordered my bodywork in electric blue as well, although I was tempted by the orange. I'm a big fan of bold colours on these cars. Dave E's is blue too, but with classic ZK bodywork, plus swept wings!

  12. They may be haggling over the price. After all it is the buyer who makes the offer in the legal contractual sense

  13. NOW SOLD - thanks After a lot of consideration, I've decided to sell the Crossflow Westy. The car is in excellent condition and underneath is the cleanest I've ever seen. It has a very special X-Flow heart the spec is - Dry Sumped 1840 X-Flow 80.8m stroke steel bda crank Cosworth rods Cosworth bdt pistons AX Ford competition block Cosworth A6 Cam Cosworth valve gear/ duplex Reworked head - larger valves, bronze guides. Titan 5 port oil pump Mocal remote filter housing. Twin 45 webbers 170bhp - runs and ticks over lovely. This is mated to a type9 gearbox with hydraulic Super Clutch and Cosworth Sierra LSD The engine was built for the original owner by a good friend of his, Graham Hickman, owner of Teme Valley race engine design, now overseeing engine builds at GB Motorsport. I rang Graham and he was more than happy to chat about the engine etc. A very interesting and knowledgeable fella. It has a lockable boot and comes with full wet weather gear with frame stored in the boot, hood and doors. The only thing that could do with doing is the rocker cover could do with repainting. Wheels and tyres are like new. The bodywork is excellent and so is the interior. MOT till October. £7750 Anyone wanting a car that makes you laugh out loud when you drive it then this is the one. Give me a bell on 07966 414017 if interested. Thanks - Jim

  16. Yes. Hide it. You don't have to give a detailed reason, if you really don't want to give a reason, just put a random character. Deleting posts and topics never used to be an option with older versions of the Boardroom. However it was enabled on a previous version as in the event of accidental deletions, the information could be relatively easily recovered as long as an admin was notified quickly. On the current version of the Boardroom, this is not possible, and deleting stuff was remarkably easy. So easy that several members deleted entire threads by accident. The only way to get them back was for Webmaster Chris to spend time going through the Boardrooms back ups and restoring the individual threads. Therefore a decision was made to change the option from delete to hide. From a day to day point of view, it achieves the same immediate goal - the post or thread is no longer visible on the Boardroom, to other members. IF for some reason you feel a thread or a post must be deleted entirely, then just like the old days, please ask a moderator.

  17. Depends on use - for general road use and blatting around for me it would be full screen for one reason only - in the event of a bird strike when at speed at least with a full screen you have a layer of laminated glass and frame between you and the bird - imagine taking that hit full in the face with or without helmet its gonna hurt a lot - I know bird strikes don't happen often.............. but they do and have happened .............. your choice

  19. What a brilliant day. Up at 6 with a walk before breakfast. Then it was down Glen Etive where we met the most interesting biker. He stopped and asked, "what made you buy the worst of a motor bike and the worst of a car" He then just drove off, so we didn't get chance to reply. We did the full 14 miles of Glenetive at about 10mph and the road is absolutely beautiful so if you get the chance....do it. We even saw a few deer which was lovely. The to Fort William for coffee before going to Glenfinnan. Ben nevis looked brilliant and was shrouded in mist but its always great to see. The rain was in by this time but we stood for nearly an hour, on a hill in the pouring rain to watch a steam train go over the viaduct complete with billowing white smoke. Now from here we continued and we went down the most breathtaking coastal road I have ever been on. I didn't get any pictures because of the rain but if you want to know where it is then come with us next year and I will show you. We had mile upon mile of traffic free roads and we didn't get in until 9.15pm tonight. Wet and a bit cold, but so very, very happy. Going to Skye tomorrow.
