  1. So on Friday I finally had everything lines up at home with the “Finical controller” to be able to place my order for the Sport 250, made the call and placed my deposit with Simon from Westfield. Was one of the scary moments, committing to this after all the planning over the last 3 months, and all the reading of posts on here, as well as the great support from the local WSCC team run by Robin at the last breakfast meeting at the Red Kite pub. A big thanks to all the guys at breakfast for helping me check in my head what options were the logical choice. Target for the car is really focused on road use, at least to start with, but I really didn’t want to not pick something I later on very much wanted, so the only think that was up for debate was front/rear anti-roll bars, which I think could be fit later on if ever needed. On the options list I have selected: - Powder coated frame - want it to last after all (Standard) Limited slip Diff - seems like a good choice (Yes) Wide Track wishbones - better of grip I assume (Yes) Upgraded to Westfield Race front and Rear callipers - it must stop best it can (Yes) Upgrade to 205 width T1R tyres Upgrade to 8" rear - lot of debate but think the expense worth it (Yes and looks great) Digital Dash - take you comment on being better with modern engines (Yes) Heater kit - wife would kill me and needed with screen for test etc. (Yes) Upgraded FW rear diffuser (Yes) Upgrade to FW rear body (Yes) Carbon effect stone guards (Yes) Sport turbo seats (Yes) Hood and side screen kit for FW Sport 250 body (Yes) The comments in brackets are from Simon to see if these were the better, more common choices. Simon has told me I’m chassis number 24, so this will hopefully be my new lucky number. Now just have to sit and wait for 12 weeks before its ready for pickup, along with 2 more stage payments. Have to say I think I came away with a pretty good deal, so thanks to Westfield and Simon for sticking with me during negotiations back and forth. So next I need to assemble a few odd tools from my Ex father-in law, and some bits from Amazon. Planning to do a build log, is this just posted as a new thread as I can’t see any specific place for it? 14 weeks is going to go so very slow

  2. What a fantastic day. Met up with friends old and new and everyone is really getting on. The sun has shone all day and we have all caught the sun. Roads where empty all the way and we got here at 7.00pm and then went for tea and a walk. I took a couple of wrong turns which was my own fault but its been a really good trip. The B&B is really lovely and the hosts are very welcoming. Its really clean and this bed is so comfortable. Food at the local hotel that I moved about last year has vastly improved as they got rid of the manager from last year and it was well priced, clean and tasty. Its 10.10pm and its still daylight and the sky is a beautiful pink. Looking forward to tomorrow already and we will also be meeting up with Bob and Lorna.

  3. Many thanks to Steve for an excellent day around traffic free roads in D&G - good roads, good company, good views. Weather started off a bit dull, but warm and sunny by the end. Here's a pic of the old, and new at Drumlanrig castle. Dave.

  4. Left home this morning at stupid o clock with glorious sunshine. Roads where empty and I just chugged along at my hears content. I have done more miles this morning than I have since November and it feels like the weight of the world is off my shoulders. Just sat eating breakfast and on my way to meet great friends. What a fantastic start and loving every minute.

  8. There did used to be a strict protocol of progress and TLA or the general geographic areas thereof, were how it was supposed to go. I did know a very young lady who was reluctant with any 'T' but after a bit more encouragement was very happy indeed to go straight to 'A'!

  11. Managed a super blat this morning as I thought I'd get out on my own before the predicted deluge/thunder/wet stuff which then didn't happen so we had a BBQ accompanied by some of that brown stuff in a bottle. This is becoming a habit (driving the Westfield that is ). Even broke the news to my dearest that a fuel injection upgrade is on the cards (well, paid for actually) and we didn't have an argument

I'm after a new rear view mirror as my current one is a small 4" one from halfords And makes thing look small ,it's got a suction pad to stick it to the screen but it keeps falling off I like the look of the 14" longacre ones but they are seem to be cage mounted which is no good for Me I also need to keep the window frame free for the half hood So any ideas would be helpful

  22. I'll be there for the Wings and Wheels day. Flew solo illegally at age 15 with ATC in 1960 and had a couple of gliding holidays in the 1990's so might even be interested in a flight. Brian

  23. I have one you could rent for a small fee, only problem is I am 1.5 hours from you. I've got a refurbished Knott braked single axle 1300kg MAM trailer in black. Perfect size for a Westfield. New jockey wheel, wiring, tyres, fenders, hitch strap, spare tyre. Might be too far for you to collect but thought I would offer.

  28. Weather looks good down here, for tomorrow - I know it will be a low turn out, but any last minute entries will be made very welcome! Hopefully we can find some quiet roads as Edinburgh today was impossible..... Steve - If you have any particular road 'requests' to aid your 'testing' we can tailor the route! See you at Abington Dave.

  30. Oh that old chestnut. A dropped nut will not only roll uphill to a grid, it will roll around obstructions to get to one. In fact, there's something about being screwed on to a Westfield that seems to allow fasteners to become sentient over time, I'm sure!

  33. I am as horrified as anyone by this, and having been a young (ish) adult during the Irish campaigns, I understand the anguish that these senseless acts incur. But I cannot help feeling that the torrent of what I might dub emotional porn being poured out hour after hour by the media actually feeds the terrorists' purpose. They can sit back and watch the video and audio reports with politicians wringing their hands live from Parliament Square and feel satisfied that the effect on the nation is indeed great. I would be intersted in other members' views.
