Well, it didn't work. The plastic just starte going in another spot. It's possible I could have re stuck it and added more JB weld, but unfortunately I drop kicked the fob down the garden and lost it So I took the upper steering column out and drilled off the old lock. (After removing the dash, unfastening the scuttle, cutting away the silicon etc, so that the scuttle would lift up enough to slide the column out.) Interesting to see that the old ignition/lock I bought (not that old, but from before these troublesome last few years) is so much smoother in action, and the key slips in and out very easily. oh yes, and it's stamped as a genuine Lucas part, as opposed to the no name pattern copy I removed. Would have probably given that a kicking too, but I'd have broken my toe! Still lots to put back together, but the column is back in and secured, as is the scuttle. Won't finish tonight though. most importantly though, I have two keys again!!2 points

It takes longer to say the abbreviation "double you, double you, double you" than it takes to say the original "world wide web"1 point

Continuing the 'dropped nut' theme. If you are working on your car on a sloping street, a dropped nut will roll uphill and into a grid.1 point

I'll go through the pictures I've took over the next couple of days and make them available. We had £69 left in the kitty so I'll make that up to £100 and gift aid to St Giles Hospice ( so they can claim the tax back ) with love from the Warwickshire WSCC. Thanks for your support.1 point

Great programme but did you young ones not see the 1966 world cup final live? Such a shame1 point

Thanks for all the comments men. Itching to get away from work but in Hereford all day. I hope the weather continues like it has been the past few days. Bobs car is yellow and Les is another red one. We will look like a bloomin scarf going down the road at this rate. @Garyt its about time you had that lawn down in the front of your house.1 point

Given the superb range of headgear Al comes up with, the car should probably be Hattie!1 point

Don't worry that your car hasn't got a yellow jersey Gary. You can be the "Lanterne Rouge"! My car (Custard) is a different yellow to everyone else's anyway. We need names for Bob & Ali's cars as well. Good Luck and enjoy the journey guys. See you next week. David1 point

+1 for Viper Performance. Good hoses and good service. They will also custom make hoses. Althouth this can get expensive for a one off.1 point

Again I have used both. ASH seemed to go through a stock issue with very little in stock so ended up using VIPER certainly does the trick.1 point

Mind you, I'll give Lock-Tec a try, I live in hope. Must be an idiot, but keep thinking it can't be that difficult...1 point

My Westfield needs a new exhaust/silencer. I contacted the Parts Dept at Westfield Sports Cars Ltd via the contacts page on their website (as suggested by them), to confirm suitability, check availability and delivery times of a replacement. Over a week has gone by and I have still not had a reply. By contrast I contacted Wunoff who responded within hours and provided full details of their "Re-pack" system including photographs, diagrams and comprehensive fitting instructions. Price delivery and lead in times were also supplied. This is not the first time that my potential purchasing requests have been ignored by WSL and I have to say I am a little disappointed at their apparent reluctance to engage with their customer base. I would have thought that the opportunity of a sale valued between £300 and £600 would have been of interest to them and worthy of a quick response but apparently this is not the case. The sad part about all of this is that I really want WSL to prosper and grow. That the brand develops a strong and powerful image is important for all of us and if the firm is to survive and hopefully grow market share in these difficult economic times, I feel morally obliged to support them in whatever way I can. But loyalty is a two way process and at the moment it appears to me to be rather one sided. Now of course there may well be a very good reason why WSL did not or were unable to respond to my query but on the basis of my experience dealing with the two firms that I contacted, I know which one deserves the business. Having got all that off my chest has anyone used the Wunoff Repack silencer and able to share their experiences with me, good or bad? My car is fitted with a 2.1L Pinto engine and used exclusively on the road. Thanks in anticipation of receiving your help.1 point

A sad passing, almost lost in a bad day. Such an amazing public speaker too. The Bond I grew up with, so always my favourite. I still remember seeing the Spy Who Loved Me at the cinema while on holiday with my parents, a huge build up to the films release had me bouncing off the walls with excitement, and I wasn't disappointed! After the film, dragged my dad around half the toy shops of Bournemouth as I had to have the toy Esprit and matching "Stromburg" Jet ranger helicopter, to shoot down with the little toy missiles the Lotus fired. happy days. And another little piece of childhood gone.1 point

I suspect there is an element of "if we don't make, we have to order it in, we don't make much profit on it" Westfield are very good at making chassis and bodywork and the associated bits and bobs (though even then I suspect there's a large proportion of the base car that's farmed out to specialist manufacturers) - for many of the "bolt on" components you're better off just going to actual supplier / manufacturer of those components rather than Westfield themselves because as we all know, they struggle at times with even the most basic customer service. This isn't a slag off of Westfield - I think they are doing a fantastic job to survive in what is a very niche market and one burdened with red tape. Personally i think they should just put their hands up and tell people the part numbers, description and manufacturer of all the "bits" so that you can buy them direct from the manufacturer and save Westfield the hassle and condemnation !!1 point
