  1. Depends what you want from the car. My last kit (non westie) was aero screen and it was a very raw exhilarating drive. Unless just popping to the shops the helmet was worn. Especially after taking a wasp strike to the face whilst wearing sunnies. My recent build has a screen and I don't think I'd go back to aero now. For pottering and cruising its nice to enjoy the open air with no lid on. Just to add. A windscreen on it's own is also useless. Anything above 50 mph the buffeting is horrendous and takes your breath away. Coupled with a set of wind deflectors is much better whilst maintaining a feeling of raw-ness. Add the full sidescreens to a screen and it becomes very civilized and you can even hold a conversation with a passenger. And stops your right arm getting covered in cow poo.

  2. So that a few post codes put in the sat nav and packing done. Just needs tieing down. Leaving in the morning for a day in the Peak District with the lovely @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AO and Glen before our first stop in Chorley to then meet @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AO Sunday midday at Alston for our drive to Glen Coe. Getting a tad excited now.

The spine has been operated on / cemented / repaired and I'm still able to get move around. Although I'm still not going to be able to drive the Westfield for a while I'm still intending to be running the events and cooking the BBQ lunch. Be safe and see you soon, Steve

  7. Lovely day again today, so thought I'd use the Westfield for an errand this morning. All ready to head back, sat in the car park, go to put the key in the ignition and got the dreaded "mushy" feeling I've been half expecting. Tried to, very carefully insert it and turn it, but no dice, with a jangle, the key ring falls to the car floor, but no ignition key! The metal blade is now firmly in the ignition barrel, but the plastic fob has broken up, just like the first key did. Thank goodness I've got tools in the car, had to use a pair of pliers on the broken off stub of the key to turn the key and start the car, (and later to turn it off). So that's it, officially both my ignition keys are f@@@@d

  12. You can have a screen with a full cage but I don't think you can have side screens aswell. Best thing would probably try and get to your local meet and see if you can blag a couple of passenger rides. You'll know fairly quickly what feels right.

  13. I had an aero screen to start with and really needed a helmet as my eyes watered up too much - also not that keen on flying beasties or pigeons (my son hit a pigeon in his face when riding his motorbike and was lucky to tell the tale ). My wife would never go in the Westie with the aero screen (good or bad depending on viewpoint). I changed to a windscreen about 18 months ago and have both wind deflectors and solid half doors and it's totally transformed it for me and my wife - I can still hoon it on my own but don't even wear a hat (though a peaked cap comes in handy for shade) - we now see the Westie as a slow or fast fun sports car and my recent half hood adds another dimension. Summer days out.... Windscreen every time for me now but I have raced single seater's and I can appreciate the buzz of an aero screen but for me never ever without a helmet....

  14. @Yanto , I'd sorted that original place and scott was taking it. Another member has had some issues with his car so it was another place thats available. I'd been in touch with Stu about the 100% chance of a drive. There is 50% possibly another place as well is there is someone else who would like to put their name on the reserve list.

  16. Same happened to my keys and I couldn't trace anyone who could cut a replacement. The factory seems to be the best chance. My solution is daft but it works. I coated the plastic fob in JBWeld epoxy with the metal key shoved back into its original fob slot (with some epoxy) and when dried (say 24 hrs) there is a useable and unbreakable fob. Just overlap a small amount of epoxy onto the metal key but not going too far down the key otherwise it might not fit in the ignition. Heath Robinson stuff I know.

  26. This year The Air Ambulance was the nominated charity for the Stoneleigh show. As some of you will have read in @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AO winter 2016 WW report we sadly lost member Ian Welch aka 'Molestrangler' in 2016. We asked Ian's wife Pat to nominate a Charity of choice and she chose The Air Ambulance. So we collected donations at Stoneleigh by selling tea, coffee, biscuits and crisps. We were also very generously given 8 charity drift rides by @Westfield Parts Dept @Julian Turner - Westfield Sportscars Ltd @Simon Westwood - Westfield Sportscars Ltd Westfield Sports cars Ltd which were raffled off over the weekend. We have managed to raise a total of £542.49p A very big Thank You to all who donated we were never expecting to raise this amount so all the fun of the weekend at Stoneleigh 2017 has also helped a very worthy cause.

  27. A sad passing, almost lost in a bad day. Such an amazing public speaker too. The Bond I grew up with, so always my favourite. I still remember seeing the Spy Who Loved Me at the cinema while on holiday with my parents, a huge build up to the films release had me bouncing off the walls with excitement, and I wasn't disappointed! After the film, dragged my dad around half the toy shops of Bournemouth as I had to have the toy Esprit and matching "Stromburg" Jet ranger helicopter, to shoot down with the little toy missiles the Lotus fired. happy days. And another little piece of childhood gone.
