I am as horrified as anyone by this, and having been a young (ish) adult during the Irish campaigns, I understand the anguish that these senseless acts incur. But I cannot help feeling that the torrent of what I might dub emotional porn being poured out hour after hour by the media actually feeds the terrorists' purpose. They can sit back and watch the video and audio reports with politicians wringing their hands live from Parliament Square and feel satisfied that the effect on the nation is indeed great. I would be intersted in other members' views.4 points

I suspect there is an element of "if we don't make, we have to order it in, we don't make much profit on it" Westfield are very good at making chassis and bodywork and the associated bits and bobs (though even then I suspect there's a large proportion of the base car that's farmed out to specialist manufacturers) - for many of the "bolt on" components you're better off just going to actual supplier / manufacturer of those components rather than Westfield themselves because as we all know, they struggle at times with even the most basic customer service. This isn't a slag off of Westfield - I think they are doing a fantastic job to survive in what is a very niche market and one burdened with red tape. Personally i think they should just put their hands up and tell people the part numbers, description and manufacturer of all the "bits" so that you can buy them direct from the manufacturer and save Westfield the hassle and condemnation !!2 points

My Westfield needs a new exhaust/silencer. I contacted the Parts Dept at Westfield Sports Cars Ltd via the contacts page on their website (as suggested by them), to confirm suitability, check availability and delivery times of a replacement. Over a week has gone by and I have still not had a reply. By contrast I contacted Wunoff who responded within hours and provided full details of their "Re-pack" system including photographs, diagrams and comprehensive fitting instructions. Price delivery and lead in times were also supplied. This is not the first time that my potential purchasing requests have been ignored by WSL and I have to say I am a little disappointed at their apparent reluctance to engage with their customer base. I would have thought that the opportunity of a sale valued between £300 and £600 would have been of interest to them and worthy of a quick response but apparently this is not the case. The sad part about all of this is that I really want WSL to prosper and grow. That the brand develops a strong and powerful image is important for all of us and if the firm is to survive and hopefully grow market share in these difficult economic times, I feel morally obliged to support them in whatever way I can. But loyalty is a two way process and at the moment it appears to me to be rather one sided. Now of course there may well be a very good reason why WSL did not or were unable to respond to my query but on the basis of my experience dealing with the two firms that I contacted, I know which one deserves the business. Having got all that off my chest has anyone used the Wunoff Repack silencer and able to share their experiences with me, good or bad? My car is fitted with a 2.1L Pinto engine and used exclusively on the road. Thanks in anticipation of receiving your help.1 point

Would love to come along, I live in High Easter so would be ideal but working a bit too late and the SEi is feeling a bit sorry for itself after a trackday at Snetterton on Monday, nothing major but needs a checkover which I haven't got time to do. Will look out for future Essex events. Derek1 point

from sunny Somerset. I'm part way through building mine, the excitement is a long term thing! You've let yourself in for a great experience IMHO. You're already taking the right steps (along with buying a Westfield!), by joining the WSCC and posting on this forum, it's a great, friendly resource. Been said before, but when you're at the factory take as many photos as you can, you'll be surprised what you can glean from them when you start scratching your head! Enjoy the build.1 point

It's funny how one of the most important parts of build prep seems to have got lost in the mists of time almost. I can only surmise that it was considered so basic, or so obvious, that it didn't need pointing out. But then times were very different in the world of kit cars; manuals were almost non existent or frequently half a dozen or so sides at most, and kits generally, were less complex, with less complex drive trains. (With a few notorious exceptions). Photographs! I even remember being asked at Westfield if I had my camera ready, as they had plenty of builds at different stages that I could snap. Any trip you made to the kit makers factories, was always an opportunity to try ale more photos of how things fitted together, how pipe or cable runs should be dressed and so on. Even nowadays, such pictures are still invaluable.1 point

I too share the revulsion over this. To me though there was a world of difference between the IRA and this scum. They tended to give warnings, not always, they went for in the main military targets and had what they saw as justification. They also did mind dying and that was a huge difference. Neither were justified at all but the IRA were like boy scouts at the side of this lot. This lot do not care for their own lives and by their actions how do you stop a single man running into a place like this and blowing themselves up? And as others have rightly said, the publicity feeds their sick and twisted ends as even children are infidels of no worth to them and they glorify the death of a Marta who carries out the attack. The issue is how do you stop them without curtailing freedoms? How do we respond as not all Muslims are evil or support them, yet they will be caught up in the horror. People will quote one mans terrorist is another freedom fighter and liken Mandela to their actions, quite wrongly, but one cannot avoid seeing that over the years terrorism has worked for many. But other than the death of all non believers what is their aim? They abuse the freedoms they have, by trying to remove the freedom of others by fear and force. In my opinion we need to stop pussyfooting around, any that are involved in any terrorist plot or action life in prison, no parole. I would re-instate the death penalty to be honest, others feel differently. I would come down hard on any internet operation like Facebook that allows any extremist group to spread their hate and fine them heavily, money is the route to curb their willingness to allow such actions, money will make them take action. We will see a difference, pictures of dead and mutilated kids in Syria on the news were okay for us to see, as it served a purpose to paint Assad and Putin as evil, but we will not see pictures of mutilated children in Manchester as somehow their deaths are more dignified, personal, private as they will not want to whip up hatred for any group as that is what they might want, to turn good Muslims into targets of aggression so they too join the fight. Targets like airports, Parliament, and the Royals have such protection now, it will be soft targets they attack, how can schools secure kids, or hospitals, shopping centres do that? We live in a world where there is still more good than evil, but one that has changed where slaughter is a currency, where good lives are taken too soon. My heart is aching for all involved. The victims, the families and the emergency workers who will never be quite the same again, the but I will not change what I do but wherever I go now I always look where the escape routes are just in case something happens.1 point

I was out in town last on one of my regular (monday club) nights out with my old mates. We usually start early and finish early cos a couple of lads travel a fair distance on public transport, so I was on the tram at 9.45 going through Victoria station and passed the Arena. Obviously that was before the horrific cowardly incident took place, got home went to bed and woke up this morning to the terrible news, what can you say? Don't these idiots realise they wont win, they will eventually be wiped off the face on the planet and good riddance to them too.1 point

I don't tend to agree with much DT has to say these days, but I think he got it right this time. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/murdered-evil-losers-donald-trump-10480057 We need to stop calling them Isis, or formerly know as this that or the other.. they are cowards. If they want a fight, they should put on uniforms and fight soldiers not kids.1 point

@Ianboom has a wunoff silencer and im pretty sure @TableLeg has two becasue of his massive engine. heard nothing but good things about wunoff. i heard though the grapevine that westfeild were having some troubles with there exhaust suppliers and are currently changing suppliers but that doesnt account for the bad customer service1 point

Welcome to the club, as others have said it's not quite a bad as it seems. My advice would be to look at as many build diaries as possible, I did before I built mine and quite a few bits of important info popped into my mind when needed. I also kept a build blog, this in the end was quite important for a number of reasons, it's a good reference now, it was useful for the IVA process and most importantly it was really surprising how often I'd finish the day pondering over an issue then while updating the blog saw if from a new perspective. Quite often when having to explain a problem to other the solution can then be seen. A few useful links, my blog, wiring diag, Zetec engine wiring supplement most importantly enjoy the build.1 point

Impressive spec! Bargain price imo. Maybe one day I will upgrade my Duratec Westie. You will definitely miss it, not trying to talk you out of selling. I know, as I sold my first Westie and I bought another within a year! All the best Andy1 point

OK an update. I have had a look on the Invision Forum and it seems this is (probably) caused by a known issue whereby logging in to a device which (after a period of inactivity) will log you out of all other devices you had logged in on previously. So if you use a laptop, log in and then don't use it for a while (like weeks), you get logged out. But logging back in again on that laptop resets your 'common' cookie and thus all your other devices no longer appear as logged in. Not 100% sure if this is the culprit, but it is going to be addressed in the new v4.20 release (we are on v4.1.19.4) so we have to wait for them to release it and see if that helps. Note, version numbers mean that 4.1 -> 4.2 is a pretty big release, there could be dozens of 4.1.19.x minors followed by 4.1.20.x, 4.1.21.x etc before we see it, so don't hold your breath!1 point
