I thought some members might get a kick out of this photo. I compete in SCCA Solo (i.e. autocross) here in the USA and it seems rare that I end up with a good photo of my driving....so when a good one pops up I feel compelled to share. Solo, or autocross, is a timed event held in a big parking lot where traffic cones are used to define a course. One driver at a time drives the course as quickly as they can and their best time of the day is the only one that counts. Typically a course is about 60ish seconds long and we take 8-10 runs in a day. Top speeds for the fastest cars are in the 65mph range. on smaller lots and about 80 mph on larger lots. Here I'm doing my best to rip those wide Avons off the rims and pulling hard out of the corner. Man is that fun. dave7 points

Not very effective I must say! They work perfectly when using my normal 15" street wheels and tires. It's funny - the SCCA rules say there must be a front fender and that it must cover at least 1/2 the tire. I suspect many have done what I did.....run a normal tire on the street and some silly slicks when driving Solo. dave3 points

You will remember Dave @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary reached 25,000 forum posts recently, the vast number of which were far more helpful than most of my blatherings. Dave's posts frequently and rightly get "liked", and he very recently also crossed over the 2,500 "likes" threshold, the highest grade of "like" - here it is, which you can see by clicking on his profile: We're doomed...2 points

Thanks for all the very kind birthday wishes, much appreciated. Lady Colonial was unfortunately decidedly sub-par and unwell yesterday so the test flight of the Injected Wench (sounds like a crime novel or a dodgy pub) was postponed so I could look after the most precious part of my life. She's improved enough where the test flight will be today, so fingers crossed for a issue-free outing.2 points

A most excellent day out, full of Westfields, starting off watching the sprinting at Curborough. There were Trevturtle, IanK, Paul Hammond(VX220), Gail and Ali, Alan, Chris and Dave. Conversation was only interrupted when a Westfield went past on the track and everyone went 'lens up' After receiving some good advice about my lambda sensor and the more important subject of how to navigate by sex shops. @AndrewBClarke you should have been there, Sex Shop Rob was mentioned. Curborough is difficult to find and the A38 all looks the same, but if you come from the North, like me, you just take the turning after the sex shop, easy. Like when we used to meet at the sex shop for the Horsepower at the Hall. No-one forgets where the sex shops are. Moving quickly on, cake time, I mean lunchtime was fast approaching, so we gathered together for Ian to take our photo as we left, which was mighty kind of him. Dave, Chris, Alan, Ian and me headed into the Peak District, to end up at The Tea Junction in Hulme End. We could all have had single seater cars today. Chris commented that when we turned onto the smaller, back roads, he thought 'here we go, she's leading us straight into cow poo land again' True to some extent, but it is all dried up and the cars stayed clean, thankfully. We had lunch, followed by cake, lemon curdy cake for me, oh heaven, then some free flapjack for being good customers, then more tea. All this allowed time for the conversation to head downhill, as it usually does, Ian had us in stitches with his 'taxi' stories. To think, I went in his car last time we were out, if I only had known!! I think this lot are looking for Glen, you won't find him there, he is with his glove in the lost property box Thanks for coming everyone and thanks to the Speed Series guys for making us welcome when you probably have a lot going on.2 points

Well, technically, it's an en-suite for a trailer - as in "can I have a trailer" - "yes, now about that en-suite..." - I still get to keep the garage1 point

Are you allowed to "like" your own posts ? seriously, well done Dave1 point

Sorry you followed the wrong car Tom. Yes, we were heading home after the meal. I did wonder why you were following us, so that explains it. When I could no longer see you in my mirrors, I thought it was just that you couldn't keep up!!! :-) Yes, what a great day, and thanks to everybody for making it brilliant. Hope everybody got home safely. David1 point

Hi Steve, I think I am your local AO I can re-assure you that with my 6'5" and 16 stone I have no problem fitting in my 1998 SEW (no lowered floor). It does make a difference what pedal box (top mounted offers more space for us lanky ones) and transmission tunnel (narrow type 9) the chassis has. Our meets are on the 2nd Monday of the month at Sywell and you'd be made more than welcome if you decide to pop round!1 point

It was infamous for the photos of it in the ad, lifted from the drivers side via a forklift truck. While this is not a crime (if not recommended), it appeared as if the car's fuel lines and brake lines were being crushed by the weight of the car on the forks. It was not the car that was infamous, rather the lifting technique. Strongly suggest you check the lines are undamaged, but very much hope you and your new toy have many happy miles and smiles together.1 point

Absolutely cracking day guys! Really enjoyed my first Clan McWesty run! Sorry I lost you guys, when I'd turned around I ended up following David, before it dawning on me he was probably heading home! By the time I realized a couple miles down road I thought I'd just head for home! Good to see you all again! Cheers, Tom1 point

Absolutely, mind you, in this company, I can help but apologise! With only a Willy Westfield hat on, I do feel I'm letting the side down in the headware department. Between Ninja Trev, Ian's Walking Dead tuby/bandanna type thing and yours and Gail's and Julie's posh hats I feel like I ought to just hide at the back1 point
